For a more compact alternative to the F226, WE Europe brings us their more compact 228. Don't be fooled by it's small form factor, as it is used by both the SAS and SFSG and packs a punch, with this replica giving us a satisfying gas blowback recoil.

It's more compact size gives it a more lightweight build and still comes with a host of features, with this variant coming pre two tone factory  painted in bright matte blue, so not only is there no UKARA needed to buy it, there is no wait time for a two tone service to be completed so you can get into the action and get skirmishing ASAP!

Description

Here we have the F228 from WE Europe, a more compact and ergonomic variant of the F226 platform, that is light as a feather (almost) and great for tight CQB environments where manoeuvrability is key; The F228's small for factor gives you that extra speed when moving about. It sports a shorter receiver & mag well than other F226 variants providing the user with a comfier grip and increased handling overall to give you that extra wiggle room and handling when on the field.

Best of all, this pistol comes pre two toned from WE's factory, with a matte finish in flashy high contrast blue, you don't have to wait to get into battle and start taking charge of missions with this modern styled sidearm.

At the front of the slide, we can find the white dot sight which enables rapid snap shooting in close quarters when coupled with the bevelled rear sight. These sights are  a no frills design, being simple yet easy to use and even easier to get your targets in your sights!

The slide itself is composed of high quality, robust alloy, featuring deep vertical ridges along either side of the slide for additional grip, which provide plenty of purchase, when racking the pistol, while remaining comfortable enough to not hurt your hands from over-zealous racking!
The controls are displayed on the left hand side of the pistol and as such is only suitable for you right handed folk there, though with a bit of practice you can master lefty use of any firearm (Ian from Forgotten Weapons, anyone?). Above the trigger, we can see the disassembly lever, which can be used to remove the upper slide and outer barrel to reveal the hop adjustment dial, attached to the outer barrel. The slide can be removed by performing a field strip achieved by pulling the slide to the rear, aligning the disassembly lever with the half-moon cutout on the slide, and rotating it clockwise by 90 degrees, after which the slide can be removed towards the front.

The trigger is that of a standard F228 design, with a nice wide contact surface and a curved design to aid the use of the double-action function. To the rear of the trigger, we can see the magazine catch, well designed and accessible without presenting the possibility of accidentally dropping your magazine. Well integrated into the grip of the F228 we can find the decocking lever and the slide catch. The decocking lever allows you to put a BB in the chamber and then "decock" the pistol safely, which lowers the hammer into a half-cocked position. This allows you to holster the pistol in a ready-to-fire condition with the heavier double-action trigger acting as a safety device. The first shot will take a long pull to fire and the subsequent shots will fire from a light and short single-action pull. A very useful feature for a pistol without a manual safety. This saves you from shooting your own thigh as you draw the pistol, a common problem with single-action pistols (looking at you 1911 and High-Capa!)

The grip panels mounted to the metal lower frame feature a stippled look with a rubberized coating, granting you excellent control over your pistol, preventing it from slipping out of your grasp in wet weather conditions. The rear of the frame is where we can find the hammer of the F228, which moves with each shot, just like the real deal!

The gun comes with a 24rnd Gas Magazine with a fill window on the front & a bottom gas inlet valve just like most GBB pistols.

So if you're looking for a more compact approach to a sidearm, perfect for those CQB environments and concealed carry related situations that features a realistic build and satisfying gas efficient recoil blowback, the WE Europe F228 will be right up your alley.

The great part about this F228 however is that it comes pre-painted blue, so no waiting around & more importantly no defence needed, so you can skirmish as quickly as you can rack an F228 slide (almost)!
