Description

Specna arms have brought us something uniquely beefy with the SA-B16, a faithful replica of the real world rifle designed as a 'Special Purpose Rifle', being more accurate than M4 or M16 models for longer range shooting, but still retaining fully automatic functionality for closer range targets. The replica has a hefty weight, thanks to it's full metal construction, which complements it's size and accuracy, for those of you wanting a realistic feel from a longer range DMR.

The metal on the exterior has been through an anodising process and is powder coated to give you not only a great feeling finish, but an incredibly strong and sturdy material to add your accessories.

At the front of the weapon, the free floating handguard is a sizable and comfortable length at roughly 290mm, giving you ample room to choose where to grip, depending on your arm length and playstyle. The handguard features a full length quad RIS rail which will let you attach your 20mm accessories straight out of the box; These could be anything from front grips, PEQ units, torches etc. Whatever your imagination can conjure, you have the space to attach whatever you like and customise depending on your preferences or to complement the mission at hand. There is also a 20mm rail atop the receiver for the attachment of all manner of optics and sights, long range or short and though the included handguard is of high quality alloy, it is also removable should you feel like customising your build down the line.

The length of the barrel is a great starting point for a DMR build, at 450mm, it runs from the receiver to the flash hider, giving that you that increased range and accuracy, perfect for those longer range field skirmishes. A cool feature of the SR16 is the mock gas block and tube which runs all the way back to the receiver for added realism, if you are looking for an authentic and lifelike replica, that is often missing from other Airsoft rifles.

To complement the longer barrel's added accuracy, flip-up aperture style ironsights come pre installed and can be adjusted to account for windage and elevation, giving you that additional adaptability you need when aiming at those long range targets.

Moving on to the receiver, again constructed from high quality alloy, we notice that it is laser engraved with US Marine Eagle, Anchor and Globe trademarks and insignia, for added style, giving the rifle a striking look., Other features of the receiver include a mock bolt release on the left hand side as well as right hand magazine release button. The charging handle located at the rear of the receiver can be pulled back from either side, doing so will reveal the mock shell ejector port. Within the shell ejection port you can find the adjustable Hop-up unit, which is a rotary type, adjusted by turning the wheel to adjust the amount of backspin on the BB, another way to customise your shots and give you increased accuracy depending on the situation and terrain at hand. Another feature not always present on rifles of the design is the fire selector switch being ambidextrous, so if you're right handed or a leftie, this rifle should feel right at home in your hands.

The magazine included is a standard high quality 30rnd 5.56 STANAG magazine, so of course if you have any other STANAG configurated rifles such as an M4, the mags will work perfectly fine with this B16.

Lastly on the receiver is the finger ridged 'A2' pistol grip we are all familiar with, featuring a diamond style texture for additional palm hold, both with or without gloves.

At the very rear of the receiver, we can find the M16A2 style full stock, which has an SPR style sling point on the left side built into the buffer plate. This is a nice addition and allows a more modern sling set up to be used with the SPR with the addition of a front sling mount. While a front sling adaptor would be an aftermarket purchase, a front sling point will be required to mount a two point sling on the SPR, however a single point sling is potentially usable.

The battery compartment of the B16 can be found inside the stock, and given the large form factor of the solid stock, the is ample room to fit massive high capacity batteries, keeping you shooting for a lot longer, meaning more time in the field playing and less time in the safe zone changing batteries! The biggest battery we had to hand to test was a 7.4V 2000mAh nunchuck battery, but the compartment could probably fit an even bigger block battery. Remember to measure up before ordering though!

Another customisable feature is the enter and covert quick change spring system, which is super simple to to use, and although isn't as quick as other guns in this series, it still means you that don't have to disassemble the gearbox to change the output power of the weapon.

For those looking for a DMR who have a taste for the special forces aesthetic, you can't do much better than SA-B16 to fulfil the role. A perfect starting point for an DMR build / loadout, thanks to its rotary HOP-up unit, quick change spring system and absolutely massive battery space. Ready to go out of the box, but with plenty of room for additions, with hefty full metal construction and realistic real-world features, the SA-16 has the look, feel and functionality of everything a replica DMR should strive to be.

The externals of the replica are metal where they would be on the real world gun. This includes things like the outer barrel, handguard, and receiver. If a real world gun has polymer parts then the gun will still be marked as full metal externals, examples of this would be an M4, where the Stock and Pistol grip are always made from Polymer.
