Delta Armory DA-C11-EGL CHARLIE™ 10" M-LOK SilentOps M4/AR-15 AEG

If you're in search of an affordable stand-in for the Royal Marine issue KS-1/L403A1, the Delta Armory DA-C11-EGL CHARLIE™ 10" M-LOK SilentOps M4/AR-15 AEG is a fantastic option. Styled after the shorter KS-1 variant, known as the KS-3, this is as close as you'll get to a pre-built KS-1 currently without spending Bolster Armouries AEGIS money!

Externally, the DA-C11-EGL is rocking a 10-inch barrel and 10-inch M-LOK handguard, providing the same barrel-to-handguard offset as the KS-1. This means you can slap a QDC/MCQ-PRT suppressor replica on to provide the KS-1 vibe without pouring your savings account into a custom build or a pile of parts. This set also includes a pre-installed micro suppressor for the sneaky look, even if you don't want to replicate the KS-1!

Internally, the DA-C11-EGL is equipped with the same reinforced internals as the original CHARLIE™ series, with the EAGLE™ programmable MOSFET system pre-installed. The EAGLE™ is an opto-magnetic ETU offering a wide variety of programmable fire mode options along with adjustable pre-cocking, trigger sensitivity and active braking for the technical types. Fire mode options include 3 or 5-round burst mode, binary trigger, sniper delay, AUG mode, semi-auto only and precocking. Incredible functionality for not a lot of money!

Also inside is a 6.03mm tightbore barrel and rotary HOP-up unit along with a pre-upgraded gearbox featuring an SHS tappet plate and piston, 8mm bushings and a quick change spring guide for easy power tuning. With solid internals and cutting-edge externals inspired by the KS-1, the DA-C11-EGL CHARLIE™ from Delta Armory is a fantastic, affordable route into the milsim world!

Starting at the tip of the 10-inch outer barrel, we can find a birdcage flash hider pre-installed, the classic M4/AR-15 muzzle device. The flash hider looks great and suits the build well, but can be replaced with any other 14mm CCW threaded muzzle device if you prefer a different style, including tracer units and suppressors.

The handguard is equipped with M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, punctuated with additional M-LOK slots at the offset angles, giving you plenty of space to mount M-LOK accessories. M-LOK is one of the latest accessory interfaces to hit the market, both for real steel and Airsoft, allowing you to fit M-LOK vertical or angled grips directly, or mount 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for M-LOK to make use of 20mm Picatinny grips, flashlights and laser units.

With a 20mm Picatinny rail at the 12 o'clock position, the handguard also provides a mounting point for the included flip-up aperture iron sights which can either be left flipped down or removed entirely if you prefer to use a red dot sight or scope. The irons can be raised and lowered by pressing the textured button at the rear and are fully adjustable for both windage and elevation.

The receiver follows the familiar M4/AR-15 format but is styled up with some unique Delta Armory flair. Constructed from high-density polymer with angled surfaces and gripping texture on the front of the magazine well, this receiver is rocking the "billet" aesthetic, mimicking real enhanced AR-15 receivers constructed from a single block of aluminium. The finish on the receiver is consistent and strong enough to resist scratches more effectively than most metal receivers, making the DA-C11-EGL ideal for those who skirmish like a bull in a china shop!

The fire selector can be found on the left side, positioned just above the pistol grip for fast access from a firing grip. The selector provides 3 modes of fire; Safe, semi-auto and full auto, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. The modes are all indicated with modern bullet pictograms, with a crossed-out projectile for safe, a single projectile for semi and multiple projectiles for full auto. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is easily reached from a firing grip with the trigger finger, allowing for super swift emergency reloads and the enviable handling the M4/AR-15 platform is known for.

The mock bolt catch is located in the centre of the left side of the receiver, and while this is a dummy control which doesn't provide a function it is nonetheless a separate part to maintain the realistic appearance and avoid the tell-tale signs of being a replica. The dummy forward assist is present on the right side of the upper receiver, right where it should be. This control does nothing on an AEG, and some real AR shooters argue it does nothing on the real thing, but it is included on the DA-C11-EGL to keep the rifle faithful to real M4/AR-15 rifles.

The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver and doesn't need to be pulled before the first shot. It instead serves to retract the mock bolt carrier and open the dust cover on the right side of the upper receiver, giving us access to the rotary HOP-up unit inside. The HOP-up allows you to tune the flight path of your BBs and set the DA-C11-EGL up for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest trajectory possible. The use of the rotary adjuster style is a nice touch and futureproofs the DA-C11-EGL with the most modern HOP-up design for the M4/AR-15 platform, boasting an improved ability to hold its setting under the vibrations of firing and being adjustable in finer increments than the older "gear" adjuster design.

The pistol grip of the DA-C11-EGL boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and in more modern shooting stances. Each flank of the pistol grip includes fine crackle texturing, with additional linear texture on the front and back straps for perfect wet weather handling. The trigger is known by Delta Armory as the CNC Type A Flat trigger, offering a flat serrated front surface with a short finger ledge, ideal for rapid double taps.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction of the sling plate practically guarantees no matter what you choose to mount to the plethora of 20mm rails on the DA-C11-EGL, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight.

To the rear of the sling plate, we come to the M4/AR-15 buffer tube, which is constructed from the same strong high density polymer used for the receiver. The buffer tube offers 6 positions of stock adjustment for the pre-installed Delta Armory battery stock, allowing you to set the stock at the perfect length to suit your body type and loadout.

The stock itself is a slimline design unique to the latest releases from Delta Armory. Featuring a QD sling socket on either side, a low-profile adjustment lever on the bottom together with conventional "footman loops", aka sling slots, the highlight of this stock is its rubber butt plate featuring lattice checkering and an angled section at the toe for providing grip in the most modern shooting stances, with or without body armour. If you have a preferred stock design, the stock can be swapped for alternative M4/AR-15 AEG stocks if you want to change up the looks!

The buffer tube also serves as the battery compartment for the DA-C11-EGL. To access the battery compartment, you will need to pull the stock adjustment lever (located on the bottom of the stock) out and hold it in place, after which you can slide the stock off the buffer tube, revealing a Deans/T-Plug battery connector inside. We recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo in stick configuration for the DA-C11-EGL, though you may need to keep the stock extended to fit this battery inside. Delta Armory recommends a LiPo battery measuring 1.4 x 1.9 x 10 cm approximately for full functionality of the sliding stock.

On the inside, we are treated to some decent pre-upgraded parts, even in this CHARLIE™ line platform. The gearbox shell is reinforced to cope with stronger springs and the spring guide is a quick change example making power tuning a breeze. Inside the version 2 gearbox, we have an SHS piston with a full rack of steel teeth and an SHS tappet plate to guarantee reliable feeding. The gearset is constructed from steel with an 18:1 ratio, and the gears themselves run on 8mm bushings for a smoother, unlaboured gearbox report.

The new EAGLE ETU/MOSFET system takes centre stage, offering more programmable options than ever before, including 3 or 5-round burst mode, binary trigger, sniper delay, AUG mode, semi-auto only and precocking. The ability to program this wide variety of modes using the trigger and selector of the gun itself gives the DA-C11-EGL the edge over practically any other platform in this price range. To provide the accuracy needed to deal with long-range foes, the DA-C11-EGL is equipped with a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel offering higher FPS with the same spring and improved accuracy potential.
