The reinforced version 2 gearbox of the FREYA™ Gen.2 features a CNC-machined nozzle, piston head and cylinder head. The gears are CNC machined from steel with a 16:1 high-speed ratio, providing a rate of fire increase along with the strength to go the distance. The cylinder and spring guide are also CNC machined from steel for flawless air seal and strength, resulting in rock-solid internals with little left to upgrade.

Inside, the EAGLE™ ETU/MOSFET is the star of the show, offering unprecedented programming options using only the fire controls of the AEG itself. Options include 3 or 5-round burst mode, binary trigger, sniper delay, AUG mode, semi-auto only and precocking. The presence of both the EAGLE™ and a quick-change spring system makes the Gen.2 FREYA more versatile than ever before, allowing you to run it as a DMR one day and swap the spring out for CQB the next. For an ETU which requires no app and no extra bits to unlock its most advanced functions, this is very impressive indeed!

Starting at the front, we can find the integrated suppressor pre-installed on the alloy outer barrel's 14mm CCW male threading. The suppressor is a big part of the "Silent Ops" aesthetic, but it can be swapped out for alternate suppressors or tracer units with the addition of a barrel extension to clear the extended inner barrel running through the suppressor. The outer barrel itself is 10 inches in length, concealing a 360mm inner barrel which runs through the suppressor, providing the ideal barrel length for multi-role Airsoft; short enough to

Moving rearwards, we come to the handguard of the Silent Ops DMR which is constructed from aluminium using CNC machining, guaranteeing in-spec attachment slots and rails and a flawless form. The handguard is equipped with a 20mm Picatinny rail along its entire upper surface, allowing for a wide range of 20mm Picatinny accessories to be added without hindering your ability to also mount a massive scope.

At the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, we are treated to KeyMod negative space attachment slots, allowing you to mount the latest vertical and angled foregrip designs directly or make use of 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for KeyMod if you prefer 20mm Picatinny accessories. The front end of the handguard is also swept back, adding to the dynamic, modern styling of the Silent Ops DMR.

The benefit of KeyMod is that in its slick configuration, the handguard is incredibly light and surprisingly ergonomic, meaning you don't need to add rail covers to avoid the cheese grater effect as you might with a 20mm quad rail. In this integrally suppressed configuration, the front 3 KeyMod slots are non-functional due to the lack of space between the inner handguard wall and suppressor, though the other KeyMod slots can all be used with the suppressor in place.

On the top of the handguard, we can find our front flip-up iron sight which is spring-loaded, requiring a press on the textured surface at the rear to deploy. The rear sight is mounted to the receiver rail and functions the same way; simply press the button and up it pops. Elevation adjustments are applied on the front sight using an AR-15 front sight adjustment tool and windage on the rear sight via the dial on the right side. The rear sight also features two apertures, a fine one for bright conditions and accurate semi-auto fire and a wider one for low light scenarios and full auto.

Following the handguard, we come to the receiver which is constructed from alloy with a unique skeletonised design based on the real steel GrandPower R15 FREYA™ receiver. Practically everywhere that weight can be reduced, it has been, resulting in an ultra-modern look and superb handling and weight distribution. The forward assist button has been deleted, just like the best of real steel AR platforms, and the mock brass deflector is considerably smaller than mil-spec M4s, further reducing weight. As we would expect for a modern AR, the receiver boasts a 20mm Picatinny rail, meaning you can mount a red dot sight or scope straight away with no extra adapters needed.

The layout of the controls matches other M4/AR-15 platforms, meaning no need to retrain if you are used to a standard AR despite the unique receiver of the FREYA™ Gen.2. The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip and offers 3 modes of fire; SAFE, SEMI and AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. This makes the selector easy to switch, but not so easy that it can be knocked out of position accidentally. Each mode is denoted with laser-engraved "SAFE-FIRE-AUTO" markings. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is accessible for a right-handed user with the tip of the trigger finger.

Pulling back the charging handle, located at the top rear of the receiver will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt carrier to allow access to the rotary HOP-up adjuster. This is the latest HOP-up unit design for the M4/AR-15 and provides finer increments of adjustment and holds its setting more effectively when compared to the older gear style HOP-up unit. The charging handle has an extended latch for easier access, allowing even those with thick gloves to access the HOP-up unit, though you may need to take off a glove to turn the adjuster!

The pistol grip of the FREYA™ Gen.2 Silent Ops DMR boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and in more modern shooting stances. Each flank of the pistol grip includes fine crackle texturing, with additional linear texture on the front and back straps for perfect wet weather handling. The trigger is a "flat" trigger with a short finger ledge and textured front, making it ideal for pumping out rapid semi-automatic shots in CQB.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction of the sling plate practically guarantees even if you mount a massive rifle scope, PEQ box and RunCam, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight. Following the sling plate, we come to the good old AR buffer tube, constructed from alloy and offering 6 adjustment positions for the pre-installed stock, or any other M4/AR-15 AEG stock you choose to mount!

The stock itself is a slimline design unique to the latest releases from Delta Armory. Featuring a QD sling socket on either side, a low-profile adjustment lever on the bottom together with conventional "footman loops", aka sling slots, the highlight of this stock is its rubber butt plate featuring lattice checkering and an angled section at the toe for providing grip in the most modern shooting stances, with or without body armour. If you have a preferred stock design, the stock can be swapped for alternative M4/AR-15 AEG stocks if you want to change up the looks!

The buffer tube also serves as the battery compartment for the Silent Ops DMR FREYA™ Gen.2. To access the battery compartment, you will need to pull the stock adjustment lever (located on the bottom of the stock) out and hold it in place, after which you can slide the stock off the buffer tube, revealing a Deans/T-Plug battery connector inside. We recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo in stick configuration for the R15 FREYA™ Gen.2 though you may need to keep the stock extended to fit this battery inside. Delta Armory recommends a LiPo battery measuring 1.4 x 1.9 x 10 cm approximately for full functionality of the sliding stock.

Inside the FREYA™ Gen.2's version 2 gearbox, we are treated to the best of both the Delta Armory EAGLE™ and ETU series. Its CNC 16:1 ratio high-speed steel gears run on 7mm bushings for an intense rate of fire and the usual Delta Armory pre-upgrades are present, including an SHS piston with a full steel tooth rack, an SHS tappet plate, and a CNC aluminium piston head, cylinder head and nozzle for maximum long term durability. The cylinder is also CNC machined from steel, as is the spring guide.

These ultra-strong CNC parts are powered by a high torque motor with Neodymium magnets, kept in check by the EAGLE™ ETU/MOSFET system. The combination of the EAGLE™ and the internals from the previous ETU series is a match made in heaven, offering more programmable options than ever before. The ability to choose 3 or 5-round burst, binary trigger, sniper delay, semi-automatic only, AUG mode, trigger sensitivity settings and active braking levels gives the FREYA™ Gen.2 Silent Ops DMR the edge over practically any other platform in this price range.
