Description

Will a full anodised aluminium handguard and flash hider, the EMG Seekins Precision SBR8 With 9" Rail is a sleek, modern spec ops style AR with a host of exciting new features from G&G, enough to turn head and keep your enemies heads down! With G&Gs version 2 gearbox, cycling stop functionality and PDW stock, you can stay ahead of the game with this advanced compact assault rifle.

Beginning at the front, the flash hider has an aggressive, angular and pronged design that looks like its ready to burst through and break glass. (Though, best not to do that during skirmish!) The flash hider is constructed from tough and well-weighted alloy, that aids in balancing the rifle. This helps with lining up shots and keeping things steady as the overall weight of the rifle is distributed perfectly throughout.

Along the sides and underside of the handguard is an MLOK rail system, with ample room to install any tactical attachments such as torches and lasers and foregrip, whatever you'd prefer for your special operations loadout.

On both left and right sides of the handguard, we can see both front and rear QD sling points, allowing you to modulate how you carry the SBR8 on the fly, depending on what situation you find yourself in. Whether you value additional movement or quick access to blasting, the rifle gives you those options on the fly. Additionally, there are two more QD sling points on the underside of the handguard, giving even more options for loadout configuration.

Above the handguard, we have the 20mm RIS rail, which runs along the length of the handguard and receiver, giving the rifle a sleek and monolithic style, but attached to the rail is where the real features are. The front sight is a flip-up ironsight, easily flipped up with the thumb, which then locks in place, and is flipped back down again by pressing the side button. The rear sight has an aperture-style design, allowing for incredibly accurate target acquisition and takedown, but the real feature of the rear sight is the fact that it is fully customisable. Rotating the side toggle adjusts the sight from left to right, perfect for windage adjustment for those longer-range outdoor skirmishes. Just below the aperture sight is another rotary adjuster, which adjusts the sight up and down for elevation.

A unique feature of the SBR8 is the auto-stop feeding method. What this means is that the rifle won't continue to cycle when the trigger is pulled when the mag is empty. The magazine feeder is also designed to feed fully into the receiver, eliminating any BBs coming loose when loading and reloading. The advantages of this are twofold. Firstly it lets you know without a shadow of a doubt that your mag is empty and it's time to reload, and secondly, it reduces unnecessary wear on the gearbox, as opposed to if the rifle would be cycling and not feeding. Inside the magwell is a switch that prevents cycling until the magazine is inserted. But if the included magazine is empty and the feeder is fully extended, the internal switch is not pushed, resulting in no cycling. Other STANAG magazines will work with this rifle no problem but you will lose that cycling prevention functionality.

Will a sleek and hard-wearing finish that feels metallic to the touch, the receiver both looks and feels, both modern and sleek, but the fact that the base is constructed from a high-density polymer, the rifle is kept lightweight and better balanced than if it were built from alloy. Engraved on the side of the SBR8's magwell is the EMG Seekins Precision logo, letting you know the rifle is of the highest calibre and letting your opponents know to fear it!

Another, both aesthetic and functional feature of the receiver is above the front of the magwell we can see finger-ridged indentations to aid grip and complement the contemporary look. The magwell itself sports a raised, curved design to allow for ease of reloading during those intense firefights. The mag release sports a diamond textured finish, as does the bolt catch in keeping with the modern aesthetic. Featured is an enlarged trigger guard to aid in shooting, while wearing gloves.

The pistol grip features a ridged textured design on the front and rear to ensure a comfortable and strong grip with or without gloves. The ridged design also keeps in with the sleek, modern aesthetic of the fire select.

Fully equipped with the SBR8 is the capacity for burst fire mode in both 3 and 5-round options, for that extra precision style of gameplay. To activate 3-round burst mode, simply set the fire selector to semi-auto and hold down the trigger for 10 seconds while the mag is removed. Once completed the MOSFET will emit an audible confirmation to say that it is enabled.

Similarly, you can change full auto select to 5 round burst by moving the fire select from semi-auto to full-auto 5 times and the MOSFET will again emit a confirmation sound. (Adjust 5 times for 5 shot burst, makes sense!). To switch back to the spray and pray mode simply carry out this process again and you are back to sending a torrent of BBs downrange at the discretion of your trigger finger.

Perfect for both lefty shooters and right-handed shooting, the fire selector features an ambidextrous design, with the fire selector sporting a textured and ridged design for ease of switching between fire modes, with or without gloves.

The charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver and is an enlarged ambidextrous design to ensure you can find the control when you need it, even with your eyes up scanning the environment for your next target. On an Airsoft AEG, the charging handle is not used to cock the weapon but is instead used to pull the mock bolt carrier backwards either for realism's sake or to access the HOP-up.

The bolt release catch can be found just above the magazine catch and can be used to lock the mock bolt cover open for a HOP-up adjustment by pulling the charging handle back and pressing the lowermost surface of the bolt release catch down. This should hold the mock bolt to the rear, and provide access to the gear adjuster for the alloy HOP-up unit. The gear can be turned to tune the amount of backspin applied to your BBs and set the Phantom up for your ammo weight of choice. With your adjustment complete, you can now hit the upper portion of the bolt release catch which will send the mock bolt plate home with a satisfying snap.

For a more combat, urban combat style, the SBR8 comes equipped with a PDW stock, reducing the overall footprint, but balancing the weight. The metal adjustment rails keep the weight squarely in the centre of the rifle, as opposed to a metal buffer tube being towards the end. The stock has 3 settings and features weight-reducing cut-outs along the stock panel for a sleek and agile look, with the stock being able to be collapsed down to as close to the body as possible, making for a compact, spec ops style aesthetic, which complements the rest of the gun perfectly.

To work in tandem with the front handguard, the very rear of the stock features a QD sling point, so you can attach a two-point sling at the front and rear of the SBR8.

The battery compartment of the SBR8 can be found inside the stock tube at the rear of the gun. Due to the low voltage cut-off of the G&G MOSFET, this AEG requires and 11.1v battery, for extreme cycling and rate of fire. It's a tight squeeze, so be careful of the other components, but the rifle will fit up to 1450mAh 11.1v LiPo battery with a Deans connector, letting you shoot for a good length of time, even with a compact PDW stock.

When it comes to internals, the SBR8  boasts the same astonishingly fast gearbox found in the ARP-9, SSG-1, and ARP556; known as the G&G G2 gearbox. These are the platforms that really put G&G on the map with their withering rate of fire, lightning-fast trigger response and of course, the aforementioned programmable burst fire. The burst mode is controlled by the G&G electronic trigger unit, which is one of the best bits of this gearbox.

G&G have outdone themselves once again with this one, so if you're looking for a perfectly weighted AR with options for burst fire, advanced features and internals, that all comes together in a sleek, modern operator-style look, you'd be hard-pressed to find something that fits the bill quite like the Seekins Precision SBR8.
