If you want to sharpen up your target shooting skills, or you want a pocket rocket for skirmishing the Dan Wesson 2.5 inch revolver would be a fine choice. This Airsoft revolver is constructed from alloy with polymer grips, giving it the hefty and authoritative feel of a full metal replica, and it feels from realistic metal cartridges with a swing-out cylinder, just like the real thing. This is the high-power version of the Dan Wesson platform, and comes with 6 high-power shells, but is also compatible with low-power shells if you want to skirmish it as a standard sidearm.

Description

If you want the satisfaction of cocking the hammer back and seeing the cylinder turn as you line your sights up with the enemy, nothing does it quite as well as a Dan Wesson Airsoft revolver. These Airsoft wheelguns have been around for many years now, and have found their place in many Airsofters' arsenals thanks to their hefty, realistic weight and feel, and their fully functional revolver features. This revolver is the high-power version of the Dan Wesson, and comes with 6 high-power shells, but is also compatible with low-power shells if you want to use it for skirmishing as a standard sidearm.

The Dan Wesson 2.5-inch revolver is a "full metal" Airsoft pistol, meaning all the metal parts of a real revolver are also metal on the Airsoft model, giving the pistol a hefty and powerful feel before the first shot is even fired. The super short "snub nose" front end gives this pistol a compact and menacing look, and has the unmistakable shape of a revolver barrel with the heat mirage reducing rib on top, and the lower part being shaped to protect the cylinder axis pin from damage.

On either side of the barrel, we are treated to the stylised "Dan Wesson" signature marking, giving the pistol a more realistic look and adding the brand pedigree of Dan Wesson Firearms. At the front of the barrel we can find our front sight, which is a typical revolver-style sloped front sight, angled to catch the ambient light and make the sight more visible.

This combines well with the rear sight and its anti-glare texture, making the sights easy to acquire and align quickly. The rear sight is adjustable for windage and elevation, so if you want to zero your revolver in for a little more than "combat accuracy" you can, using a flathead screwdriver. The adjustment screw on the top controls the up/down movement of the sight, and the screw on the right side moves the sight left to right. Included in the box we can find a single 20mm Picatinny rail which can be installed on the top of the revolver, just above the cylinder. This is perfect if you want to add a reflex sight or red dot for faster target acquisition, but can be left off the revolver if you prefer the classic look.

The Dan Wesson revolver operates exactly like the real thing, feeding from realistic brass-coloured metal shells which can be loaded with a single BB each. These shells need to be loaded into the revolver's cylinder, which rotates into position each time you pull the trigger or cock the hammer. To access the cylinder and load the revolver you will need to push the cylinder release catch forwards, which is found on the left side of the pistol just to the rear of the cylinder itself. This will release the cylinder lock and allow the cylinder to swing open to the left side, ready for reloading.

The cylinder release catch also does double duty as a hidden safety catch and can be pushed rearwards to lock the trigger of the revolver. This is very "un-revolver-like", but is a thoughtful inclusion for Airsoft skirmishing. The fact that it is hidden as a part of a realistic control means this revolver can be safe without compromising its realistic looks.

The shells can be loaded either individually or using the included 6-shot speed loader. The speed loader functions just like a real revolver speed loader, and to fill it all you need to do is place your shells inside. The loader can then be aligned with the open cylinder and the shells can be loaded by pushing the plunger on the rear of the speed loader.

The Dan Wesson revolver makes use of what is known as a "double-action/single-action trigger", which means your trigger has two modes of operation. You can either simply pull the trigger straight back which will cock the hammer, rotate the cylinder and release the hammer in succession, making for a speedy shot at the cost of a slightly heavier trigger pull. The other option is the "single action" method, which allows you to manually cock the hammer using the thumb before benefiting from the short and light pull provided by the simplified trigger function. This means you can unload on the enemy with rapid double-action shots, and take a precise single shot using the single-action function when it is needed.

This revolver is powered by 12g unthreaded CO2 capsules which is what gives it that potent muzzle energy. The CO2 capsule is loaded into the grip of the revolver, and this can be done by pulling the rear of the grip backwards, after which the CO2 capsule can be loaded in from the left. With the CO2 capsule inserted you can now tighten down the screw at the bottom of the grip to pierce the CO2 cartridge and secure it in place. This must be done quickly in order to avoid losing CO2. We recommend lubricating the top of each CO2 cartridge with silicone lubricant before insertion as this will greatly prolong the life of the internal seals in the revolver.

The grip of the Dan Wesson revolver is shaped to fit the hand perfectly, making use of finger ridges and comfortable dot texture to ensure you have a firm grasp in whatever weather conditions you are shooting. The grip is straighter in angle than more old-fashioned revolvers which helps to keep the web of your hand clear of the hammer, preventing "hammer bite". This grip is styled similarly to that of the famous Taurus Raging Bull which only adds to the large and in charge look of this snub-nosed revolver.

So, if you are drawn to the shape and style that only a revolver can provide, or you have mastered all other forms of Airsoft weapons and want to master the revolver too, the Dan Wesson 2.5" would be a fine choice. This high-power version of the Dan Wesson is ideally suited to target shooting with its high power level but can be brought back down to earth with power down shells for the skirmish gunslingers.

Special Instructions

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
