Description
The 20mm Railed Tactical AK Receiver Cover from 5KU is the perfect part to bring the ergonomically challenged AK platform into the 21st century. This dust cover is constructed from aluminium alloy and features a 20mm Picatinny rail complete with numbered slots along its upper surface, allowing optical sights to be mounted to the AK directly without the use of the Russian side rail and adapter.
This receiver cover is designed to work with Z-Co style handguards (compatible handguards listed below in "Features") and attaches to the handguard's threaded sockets, allowing the top cover to be hinged similarly to an AKS-74U rifle, keeping it on the weapon during battery changes and avoiding the fiddliness of trying to reinstall a conventional top cover with a battery beneath. This handguard will only work with Z-Co style handguards, so make sure you do your homework before ordering this!
For those building a modern Spetsnaz-style AK, this part is practically mandatory. The real version of this top cover has been lauded the world over for its ability to provide an optics mounting solution for the AK that both holds its zero well and reduces the need for additional adapters to mount modern western optics. Another perk is that you can still fold your stock to the side with your optic mounted to this top cover, unlike side rail mounted optics!

Special Instructions
This top cover will not work without a compatible Z-Co style lower handguard. You will find a list of the handguards we have found to be compatible in the "Features" section above. This top cover cannot be installed on a standard handguard without the Z-Co mounting holes, please consider this carefully before buying.
The 5KU 20mm Railed Tactical AK Receiver Cover will not fit AKS-74U or PP-19 style rifles.
