Inside, the SSG11 is something else, based around the VSR-10 design but far more convenient to use and with incredible performance potential. The CNC steel cylinder boasts considerably larger volume than the VSR-10, allowing for optimal performance with long inner barrels.

The inner barrel is a "bull" type, with thick walls to reduce vibration and enhance accuracy. The HOP-up is a CNC aluminium TDC type with a convenient external adjuster capable of lifting almost any BB weight while minimising side-to-side deviation. The mainspring can also be changed in under a minute, making power tuning easy, and the set even includes FPS adjuster rings so you can get tuning right away. Starting at the front, we can find the muzzle cap, which by default isn't threaded, but can be replaced with a threaded alternative if you require a tracer unit or suppressor. According to Novritsch, the SSG11 is the quietest spring sniper rifle around with a suppressor mounted, so if you can handle the extra length, we wholeheartedly recommend it!

Moving rearwards, we come to the outer barrel with boasts straight fluting to add a hint of the Novritsch aesthetic and mimic real steel precision rifles. Fluting exists in real steel form to reduce the weight of heavy-profile barrels and help heat dissipation; a hallmark of a serious rifle intended for pinpoint accuracy.

On top of the outer barrel, we can find the adjustment dial of the TDC HOP-up unit, a convenient external adjuster which can be tuned in seconds, even when wearing gloves. Being placed on the top means you're very unlikely to accidentally bump it and mess with your HOP-up settings, unlike VSR-10-based designs, where you need to be conscious of how you grip the rifle to avoid touching the slider-style adjuster.

The HOP-up unit itself is CNC machined from aluminium to ensure the form is perfect, the air seal is flawless and robustness is at a maximum. The dial adjusts with tactile clicks and locks into place with each adjustment, ensuring it won't unwind after long shooting sessions. We've already had the SSG11 out on the field, and we had great luck using 0.46g BBs, but the SSG11 can reportedly lift even heavier stuff!

Below the barrel, we come to the chassis, which is a unique Novritsch design, equipped with a Harris-style bipod lug on the bottom at the front so you can install a Harris-style bipod. Along the sides, the chassis sports crackle-textured panels so you get a good grip in any weather conditions. The magazine well is in the same spot as it is on the SSG10 and VSR-10; centrally positioned on the bottom with a magazine release button at the front.

Behind the magazine well, we have a second magazine well with a realistic dummy magazine, though this isn't all about looks! The mock magazine serves as a storage compartment for a spare functional magazine, allowing you to carry extra ammo without extra pouches and providing an easy and fast reload option on board the rifle itself.

With a magazine installed inside the mock mag with the feed lips facing down and rearwards, you have a second magazine within a few inches of the magazine well, ideal for reloads from concealment, where unnecessary movement can give the game away! If you're more of a minimalist sniper, you can remove the mock magazine entirely using the magazine catch just behind.

At the rear of the chassis, the SSG11 is rocking a CNC aluminium M4/AR-15 GBBR type pistol grip, a lengthy yet comfortable design which is compatible with any M4 GBBR grip on the aftermarket, provided it doesn't have an extended backstrap. The trigger is a curved design which feels fantastic to use, with a super light pull and almost no take-up before hitting the wall.

Behind the pistol grip, we have the prolific M4/AR-15 buffer tube, providing 6 length of pull adjustment positions for the pre-installed minimalist sliding stock. This means you can adjust to suit your body type and preferences and change it up in seconds, unlike legacy sniper rifle designs. The adjustment lever for the stock is on the bottom, a low-profile design intended to reduce snags to keep you agile in the field. The buffer tube is compatible with almost every M4/AR-15 sliding stock in existence, so you definitely aren't short of options if you fancy a change of pace.

On top of the chassis, we can find the action of the SSG11, an ambidextrous VSR-10-inspired receiver made from CNC-machined aluminium with a top-notch finish. On the right side, where the ejection port would usually live, we are treated to Novritsch trademarks laser-engraved in white text, reading "Novritsch SSG11" in the iconic Novritsch brand font. The left side also features laser-engraved branding in the form of the F mark, model number and serial number.

The important stuff is at the rear of the receiver, the bolt and the charging handle! When cocked, a red protrusion will appear at the rear of the bolt to indicate the rifle is cocked. Anyone who has ever raised their VSR and pulled the trigger, thinking they're cocked and locked, only to be greeted by a mushy, dead trigger will know how useful this feature is in the field!

The bolt handle itself is an enlarged design with plenty of purchase, designed to provide plenty of clearance for the hand when a rifle scope is mounted. One of the biggest pitfalls of standard bolt-action sniper rifles is left-handed functionality; thankfully, Novritsch thought of this and designed the SSG11 to have a left-right swappable bolt handle with no extra adapters needed. Finally, wrong-handed snipers can lay waste to the enemy without burdensome body mechanics!

On the top, we have a 20mm Picatinny rail, ready for your choice of optical sighting system. The rail is a "full" rail, omitting the cut-out often found on bolt-action receiver rails, meaning if you prefer a dual ring mount for your scope, the SSG11 is ready for it. The rail is also weight-reduced with a relief cut running down the centre, as is the convention with many modern rail systems.

Inside, the SSG11 is ready to rock, with no upgrades needed to outshoot any other out-of-the-box sniper rifle. Included in the box, we are treated to a set of FPS adjuster rings which can be installed inside the cylinder to boost FPS by fine increments, so you can get right to the field limits. The piston itself is also threaded to accept piston weights (sold separately).

The HOP-up unit is something truly special, a CNC aluminium build with 360-degree locking with the inner barrel to prevent rotation and maximise air seal. The pre-installed HOP-up bucking is an Immortal R-HOP type, providing insane accuracy and range, so much so that you'll probably never think about upgrading.

One of the coolest features of the SSG11 is its quick-change spring system, allowing you to tune power with the included FPS adjuster rings in under a minute. To do this, simply pull down on the tab inside the trigger, and you can pull the massive bolt and cylinder out. With this done, remove your mock magazine and index the two steel pins on the mag with the cut-outs on the front of the cylinder to unscrew the cylinder head and access the piston. This is WAY easier than the VSR-10, perfect for the exacting sniper who knows what they want!
