Description

APS set out to create a unique Airsoft gun that’s as user-friendly as possible – and that’s just what they did! Designed from the ground up as an Airsoft gun, APS have managed to create an Airsoft gun that’s incredibly ergonomic and undeniably eye-catching. This bullpup configuration Airsoft gun is lightweight, fully ambidextrous, and looks out of this world.

As a bullpup platform Airsoft gun, the Urban Assault Rifle is shorter than traditional assault rifles but manages to have a long barrel – by relocating the magazine and internals behind the trigger. Changing magazines couldn’t be easier on this Airsoft gun, thanks to the front and rear magazine releases APS has built into the UAR. The front releases, located above the trigger on both sides of the gun, mean users can drop the magazine using their trigger finger, without having to move their hands or adjust their shooting stance. An additional ergonomic design feature is the fire selector and safety: an ambidextrous design, similar to the AR-15 / M4 / M16 design, located above the pistol grip. Whether you’re left or right handed using the Urban Assault Rifle is easy and comfortable to do.

As you’d expect of a modern Airsoft gun, the UAR features a lot of 20mm RIS real estate for mounting weapon accessories, allowing users to go to town customising their Airsoft gun. A large rail along the upper surface allows the installation of any optics or scopes as required. A lower surface rail provides ample space for foregrips, whilst short rails on both the left and right sides allow users to fit a wide array of accessories from lasers to flashlights. The outer barrel utilises the standard 14mm CCW threading, meaning that 14mm CCW compatible suppressors and flash hiders can be mounted. The supplied flash hider is held in place by a grub screw, which once removed allows the flash hider to be unscrewed.

Weapon functionality is entirely ambidextrous, including the mock charging handle and ejection port, which can be swapped over from one side to the other. A 410mm inner barrel is connected to the alloy gearbox, which features a quick-change spring system. This handy function means that the FPS of the gun can be quickly changed without the need to completely dismantle the gun, an invaluable feature for Airsofters who attend multiple Airsoft sites with different FPS limits. The gearbox is re-wired, with ample battery space contained in the stock of the weapon.

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.

I love this little bullpup. For the price of a starter gun it performs in the price bracket above. The tight bore barrel as standard gives it good accuracy, and all the ambidextrous features mean it works the way you want it. Another little feature I love but not advertised is the the selector switch goes from safe to full auto then semi. This means that you go straight into hosing down mode from safe. A nice feature if you’re caught out with safety on. Initially I didn’t like the short barrel length, but one game at an Urban site and I was converted, speaking of which, the flash hider is weighted to give a more centrally balanced rifle. All in all, out the box, range and accuracy is great, rate of fire is ok, and it’s really user friendly. The one issue I did have was the trigger linkage slipped off, but it was a quick fix to pack the trigger arm out with a bit of scrap plastic and gaffa tape which solved the problem.
