The Theta Optics 3-9x40 Illuminated Compact Rifle Scope w/ Scope Rings is probably best equipped on a sniper or DMR; however, it can be fitted on any Airsoft platform with at least 10cm of 20mm Picatinny top rail. Its adjustable magnification of 3-9x is perfect for most Airsoft engagements; any more magnification and you're usually only using it to scope out foes in the distance, but not to shoot.

The Mil-Dot reticle of this scope provides a clear crosshair for you to line up shots on your enemies. With its 45mm objective lens, you get a wide view of the battlefield in front of you so you can see any other threats that may appear while scouting out the land. At the rear of the scope is an adjustable fast-focus dial, which lets you quickly change the focus of your lens to get a clearer image when you rapidly look between different ranges.

Adjustments are applied via a pair of capped turrets, one on top and one on the right side. To apply adjustments, you'll need to unscrew the protective turret caps, under which you will find dials which can be adjusted either by hand or more easily using a coin or flathead screwdriver.

The turret on the top controls elevation, moving the reticle up and down, and the turret on the right side controls left-to-right reticle adjustment, also known as windage. Once you've zeroed in, replace the caps to prevent mid-skirmish bumps and scrapes from messing with your zero and to keep dust and debris out of the delicate internals.

On the left side, we can find the illumination adjustment turret, which offers reticle colour selection and 3 different brightness settings for each colour. This allows you to run the 3-9x40 illuminated with either a red, green or blue glowing reticle for maximum visibility against different background palettes. The 3 brightness settings allow you to adjust the optic to provide the best possible clarity in any ambient lighting conditions, but if you forgot to install a battery or it has run out, you can still use the reticle without any illumination.

Included in the box is a pair of scope rings for20mm Picatinny rails, meaning you can mount the 3-9x40 Illuminated Compact Rifle Scope straight away on any Airsoft rifle with a 20mm Picatinny top rail.
