Description
If you're planning a DMR build and want a unique base platform, the G&G Armament TR80 DMR GT Advanced AEG is one to watch. A high-quality build with a CNC aluminium handguard and high-density polymer receiver, the TR80 is a unique G&G design with vibes of the legendary PSG-1 but kitted out with modern attachment interfaces and an incredibly comfortable, multi-adjustable DMR stock.
Inside, this beast is rather unique, based around the G&G G3 split gearbox with a programmable MOSFET which can be set up using the included wireless remote control. Programmable options include pre-cocking, 3 levels of trigger sensitivity and the ability to turn the "bolt lock/stop firing on empty" feature off and on, ideal for any skirmisher, whether realism is top priority or not. The gearbox itself is rocking 18:1 steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings, with a quick-change spring guide to make the DMR conversion easy and the G&G Orange 25K motor to provide the speed and torque needed for a rapid trigger response. If you need a DMR which stands out from the crowd, the G&G Armament TR80 DMR GT Advanced AEG is the one for you!
Starting at the front, we can find a unique flash hider design made from steel, styled after a combination of the Dragunov SVD flash hider and the KAC QDC device, at least to our eye! The flash hider looks fantastic and blends well with the sleek design of the TR80, but it can be replaced with a device of your choice, including tracer units and suppressors, thanks to the outer barrel's 14mm CCW male threading.
The outer barrel itself is 18.5 inches in length, right in the sweet spot for a game-dominating DMR build. Between the flash hider and gas block, the outer barrel boasts fluting to reduce weight and mimic the aesthetics of real steel precision rifles. In real steel form, fluting allows a heavy-profile outer barrel to cool more quickly during rapid fire, an essential feature for a semi-automatic DMR, making it a perfect addition to complete the TR80's DMR look.
Moving rearwards, we come to the dummy gas block, which features a steel dial on the front that perfectly mimics the appearance of real steel adjustable gas blocks. In classic G&G style, the dial actually functions as the adjuster for the TR80's innovative HOP-up system, allowing you to easily adjust mid-firefight to get the perfect trajectory for your BB weight of choice. While the HOP-up unit of the TR80 is proprietary, it is reportedly a very effective unit and is compatible with standard AEG buckings and nubs for those who want more.
To the rear of the gas block, we come to the handguard, which is CNC-machined from aluminium with the hard-wearing, high-quality finish we expect from G&G. M-LOK negative space attachment slots are present at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, ready for M-LOK accessories or 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for M-LOK. Running along the top, we are treated to a 20mm Picatinny rail which mates with the receiver rail seamlessly, offering plenty of space for a massive rifle scope, RunCam or whatever else you need to complete your build. The handguard also keys into the upper receiver HK416-style, improving strength and ensuring the handguard never loosens up and rotates.
The receiver itself is a lengthened version of G&G's PCC45 receiver, made from super-strong high-density polymer with ambidextrous AR-15-derived controls. The fire selector is right where we would expect, on the lower receiver, just above the pistol grip; an ambidextrous enhanced selector with a 90-degree throw, mechanically locked to semi-automatic only. The magazine release is a similar story, positioned on the magazine well ala AR-15, easily within reach of the trigger finger when the TR80 is held in a firing grip. The mag release is also ambidextrous, making it easy to use for either left or right-handed shooters.
The trigger is a semi-flat ported design, adding a stylish touch to the build and facilitating rapid double-taps without restricting the position of your finger. The trigger guard is M4/AR-15 AEG compatible and is an enlarged design with texture on the bottom to provide a grippy place for your trigger finger to safely rest between shots. The pistol grip is a unique G&G design with a filled-out backstrap to support the web of the hand and crackle-textured panels on the front and rear to ensure gripping qualities are flawless in any weather condition. This grip is also M4/AR-15 AEG compatible and can be switched out for other AEG grips with a bit of know-how.
The final two fire controls have a surprise in store which will definitely please realism fiends! Like the ASG Scorpion EVO and TM NGRS M4 series, the TR80 boasts what is known as a "bolt stop" or "stop firing on empty" function, which prevents the AEG from cycling when the magazine runs dry. After inserting a fresh magazine, you can then push down on the bolt release catch on the left side or pull the charging handle back to bring the TR80 back online again.
This is a great way to avoid running out of ammo mid-firefight without realising it, and for those who prefer a less complex manual of arms, this feature can be deactivated using the included wireless remote control. This feature works with all compatible mags (G&G SR25 mags and PTS EPM-LR Mags). Advanced stuff from G&G, how they did this, we simply cannot fathom!
At the rear of the TR80, we can find another G&G innovation, a folding M4/AR-15 buffer tube mounted to a conductive hinge folding mech. This works the same way as the CHFS stock on G&G's ARP9 3.0, allowing you to fold the stock quickly and easily without running the risk of trapping wiring. The button to fold the stock is on the left side of the stock base, and to redeploy it, there are no buttons; simply swing it back into place.
The stock itself is G&G's interpretation of modern precision rifle stocks, known as the GOS-V12. This stock has a truly incredible amount of adjustment, featuring 6 length-of-pull positions, an adjustable butt plate, an adjustable cheek riser and a folding monopod with length adjustment built in. When folded, the monopod functions as a 20mm Picatinny rail, just in case you have a preferred rail-mounted monopod or you want to do something silly, like mounting a VFG back there, L86 LSW-style.
To adjust the length of pull, you'll need to loosen the large thumbscrew to the rear of the QD sling sockets, after which the thumbscrew can be pulled out slightly and the stock can be slid back and forth on the buffer tube. When you've found the sweet spot, tighten the thumbscrew down to lock the setting in place. Adjusting the butt plate is as simple as loosening the rearmost thumbscrew on the right side of the GOS-V12, after which the butt plate can be pulled out and the thumbscrew tightened back down.
To raise and lower the cheek rest for a perfect view through your optical sight, loosen the foremost thumbscrew on the right side and slide the cheek rest into your chosen position, tightening the thumbscrew when ready. To deploy the monopod, hold the button on the bottom left side of the stock, and it can be deployed by hand and adjusted for length by turning the tip clockwise to lengthen and counter clockwise to shorten. This is an incredible amount of functionality for any stock, even an advanced precision rifle stock; the legendary PSG-1 wishes it had this stock!
The battery compartment is inside the butt plate of the GOS-V12, accessible by pressing the tabs on either side and sliding the butt plate downwards and off the rifle. Inside, you'll find a mini-Tamiya battery connector to which you mount your choice of battery. Space inside is rather limited, so we recommend an 11.1V 600mAh LiPo in PDW stick configuration for an easy fit. It is possible to fit larger batteries inside (900mAh - 1000mAh), but you'll need to be careful with wire admin to avoid getting anything trapped.
Inside, the TR80 is equipped with G&G's unique G3 split gearbox, a reinforced design packed with innovation and advanced features. The 18:1 steel gearset runs on 8mm steel ball bearing bushings for a smooth gearbox sound and long-term robustness, and the spring guide is a quick-change example, making it super easy to crank this beast up to DMR power levels. Also inside is the G&G Orange 25K IRFIT motor, a super-speedy motor famed for its presence in ARP9 builds, providing ample speed and torque for a stunning trigger response.
The G3 MOSFET really is something special, offering pre-cocking adjustment, trigger sensitivity adjustment and diagnostics via the included wireless remote control. The stop firing on empty/bolt stop function can also be turned on or off via the remote, making the TR80 a versatile platform ideal for realism seekers or easy-mode players!
If you need a DMR but don't want a build based on prolific SR25 and M4 rifles, the G&G Armament TR80 DMR GT Advanced AEG should be right up your street. Mission-ready on the outside with superb quality components and equipped with innovative, high-performance internals, which are sure to have the enemy on the run, the TR80 is a foe to contend with in outdoor scenarios!

Special Instructions
If you split the receiver of the TR80 for maintenance, upgrades or simple curiosity, it is essential that you follow the procedure outlined in the user manual under "Sector Gear Reset". Failure to do so can cause internal damage. This is considered "user error" and is not covered by your 12-month warranty.
It is essential that you do not attempt to shoot/cycle the gearbox of the TR80 when the receiver is split(other than through the "Sector Gear Reset" function). This can cause internal damage and is not covered by your 12-month warranty.
When inserting the included magazine when empty, ensure that the extended follower is retracted (pushed down inside the magazine). Failure to do so can damage the HOP-up unit and cause misfeeding.
The TR80 features what is known as a "Stop firing on empty" or "Bolt stop" function. This means you can only dry fire a single shot before the TR80 will cease to fire. To recommence firing, press the bolt catch on the left side downwards or pull the charging handle back. This feature can be deactivated using the included remote control.
