Introducing the 10-inch Desert Eagle from Toyko Marui themselves. The Desert Eagle is a jaw-dropper in its original format, the 10-inch version is guaranteed to turn even more heads! Let us go through what makes this handheld artillery piece so effective...

Description

Tokyo Marui's Desert Eagle is a one of their "Hard-kick" line, and as such it is no surprise that this pistol is one of the heaviest recoiling Airsoft Pistols we have ever seen. Normally everything is a trade-off, and heavy recoil comes at the price of poor gas efficiency and speed of cycling, though not with the TM Desert Eagle. The high-density polymer slide and perfectly tuned magazine release valve/knocker relationship allow both a hefty recoil force and a rapid cyclic rate. Picking the Desert Eagle 10-inch up, leveling it and looking down the sights leaves you with a sense of sheer power; you know darned well you are lining up the sights on a MONSTER of a pistol.

Starting at the tip of the looooong outer barrel we have a dovetailed front sight blade, providing a visible, large point of aim which interfaces excellently with the wide rear sight at the rear of the slide. Moving rearwards we have a mock pistol scope rail, keeping things in line with the real Desert Eagle, which is designed for target shooting believe it or not! This rail is not compatible with Picatinny scope rings as it is slightly larger, replicating the original Desert Eagle from a time before 20mm rails were standard. At the rear of the outer barrel we arrive at the HOP unit, which differs in its operation from other GBB pistols. To adjust the HOP first lock back the slide, after which you will note that there is no sign of any adjustment wheel. The HOP in this pistol is hidden rather well, and the Japanese instruction manual probably won't help you find it. With the slide locked to the rear, the chamber of the Desert Eagle needs to be pulled back, revealing the rotary HOP unit dial. The dial has a helpful gauge on it, showing which direction to turn to increase HOP, with small increments indicated for finer tuning. When you are done, simply slide the chamber back into position and release the slide and you're good to go! The rear of the slide features aggressive serrations to ensure you get a firm grip when operating the slide. The safety lever appears on both sides of the slide, perfect for left-handed users, and clicks satisfyingly into position, revealing a red dot when the pistol is in "Fire" mode.

Now, on to the lower frame. The pistol grip is of an ergonomic finger ridged design, with a rubberized surface finish which feels amazing in the hand. The Desert Eagle jumps around whilst firing, as it is intended to, though these grips ensure it has a good chance of not kicking its way out of your grip! The fire controls are all considerately placed, with the slide release catch, magazine release and safety lever lying well within reach of your digits whilst in a firing grip. The slide release is designed with stepped texturing to ensure you hit it properly when you need to. The magazine release is small and out of the way, ensuring you cannot accidentally bump the mag release when drawing/reholstering and drop your magazine. The trigger is also textured, this time with vertical lines in an attempt to reduce the detrimental effects on accuracy from "slapping the trigger". The trigger guard is shaped in order that you can use it as a gripping surface for your support hand, helping keep the muzzle down for fast follow-up shots. At the rear of the frame we can find the hammer, which locks back and releases with each shot, and features a textured thumb surface so it can be cocked for those theatrical movie stand-off moments.

Now we have been over the externals, we must discuss why this particular Desert Eagle has the best performance of those on the market today. Tokyo Marui has build quality and internal performance which is, as yet, unmatched. Some AEGs come close, but TM GBB pistols remain the pinnacle of Airsoft performance and longevity. The design of the internals has been imitated, but never surpassed in performance, this being due to Marui being responsible for the original design of almost every Airsoft gun there is. They are the experts, the creators, and they know exactly what to do to produce an amazing gun. The Hard-kick design of the Desert Eagle becomes evident when you fire it, with a hard to place "snappy" feel to it, which is absent in practically every other GBB pistol. You feel the force of the shot, then the slide reciprocates in a jarring manner, then it happens again. There is no "chug chug chug" from the TM, the slide snaps back and forth and physically moves you; its an experience all of its own. The HOP design in the Desert Eagle does its monstrous size some justice, being the most effective on any TM pistol or clone. The wealth of space inside the pistol allows the use of a rotary HOP unit which is widely regarded as the best pistol HOP design going, providing AEG like range, even when shooting a moderate 300 FPS. The HOP can be adjusted on the fly without disassembly, meaning you will never have to make do with a poorly set HOP. The combination of excellent consistency, unrivalled ability to handle cool down under rapid fire, and superb HOP performance make this one of the few pistols actually worth using outdoors as a primary. Sure, you will get some looks....looks of fear, intimidation, discomfort and maybe some tears, but that's why we love Desert Eagles, especially TM ones!

Special Instructions

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.

Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
