The CQB beast is back again, and better than ever! This latest top-quality AEG offering from G&G accepts the widely used and Airsoft 5.56mm STANAG Magazine - basically any Airsoft M4/AR15 AEG magazine - making this incredibly practical for Airsofters with a large stockpile of Airsoft STANAG mags, and gear set up for M4/AR15 mags. Sporting the performance of the ARP9 in a new, all-metal package with ambidextrous controls, the G&G ARP556 wants for nothing!

Full description

Description

The G&G ARP556 is G&G's answer to requests to make the much lauded ARP9 in a 5.56mm receiver configuration, with the same robust, well-finished metal body found on G&G's CG series of AEGs.

Starting at the front end we can find G&Gs hyper-aggressive sound amplifying muzzle device, made from alloy and attached to the 14mm CCW male threads at the tip of the alloy 5-inch outer barrel. This device makes a world of difference, making the muzzle report from this AEG at least as loud as a GBBR, with an extended metallic 'ring' after each shot. Not for the stealthy players this one, with its aggressive styling and a loud muzzle report the ARP556 is an asset in the phycological war, ensuring the enemy will hear you coming and flee for their lives!

Surrounding the barrel we have an aluminium 5-inch M-LOK handguard, with a Picatinny rail running along the 12 o'clock position to meet the receiver, providing a lengthy attachment point for optical sights, PEQ laser units and magnifiers, should your build require it. At the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock position the handguard features two M-LOK slots for mounting M-LOK accessories and rail sections where needed. The use of M-LOK keeps the rifle light and gives it a modern, dynamic look whilst facilitating mounting any accessories you might need for your mission. Atop the Picatinny rail is a pair of metal flip-up iron sights, providing a clear front sight post and a fully adjustable aperture at the rear sight, which can be folded and deployed as and when you deem necessary.

The receiver is a G&G metal CG series receiver and features a modern angular design with a flared magazine well to speed up reloads and gripping surfaces at the front for controlling the ARP556 when shooting in unconventional or compressed positions. The fenced magazine release is present on both sides, allowing left and right-handed users to exchange magazines quickly. The fence surrounding the magazine release prevents the release from being pressed inadvertently from rubbing on gear or obstacles. The fire selector lever can be found above the pistol grip, and is also ambidextrous, with bullet pictogram markings indicating the safe, semi and automatic firing modes. The receivers' small components are also made from metal, including a steel dust cover and forward assist button on the right side, with steel extensions on either side of the ambidextrous alloy charging handle.

Pulling the charging handle to the rear allows access to the rotary HOP unit, housed beneath the dust cover and mock bolt carrier. The fire selector is of a modernized design, with gripping texture along the top and bottom surfaces ensuring that you don't slip off the controls whilst operating it. The pistol grip has a filled back strap, ensuring the grip is comfortable in your hands and your firing grip is consistent. Coupled with the texturing on the grip, this allows a good firm hold of the rifle to be maintained even in poor weather conditions.

The ARP556 trigger is flat-faced, allowing speedy double taps and rapid-fire in semi-automatic. With the high-speed internals within this bad boy, your trigger finger will get tired way before this AEG does! The ARP556 trigger is also skeletonized in design, reducing the overall weight of the AEG and adding to its mean looks. The trigger is protected by an enlarged metal trigger guard, allowing full finger gloves to be used with this AEG with no difficulties.

Arriving at the rear of the AEG, we come across the G&G GOS-V5 PDW stock. This stock features alloy stock bars, allowing it to be extended to any one of two positions, depending on your body type and whether or not you use a bulky rig or plate carrier vest. The compact nature of the GOS-V5 allows the ARP556 to fit in smaller gun bags designed for SMGs, whilst allowing you to collapse the stock for extremely tight quarters during CQB skirmishes. The stock adjustment button can be found on the bottom of the stock, and when pressed allows the stock to extend or retract. Integrated into the GOS-V5 design, we have an ambidextrous sling loop, located on the bottom, which is ideally suited for use with a single-point sling

Within the GOS-V5 stock lies the ARP556's battery compartment, which can hold up to an 11.1V 1100mAh battery. For ease of installation, we recommend either an 11.1V 600mAh PDW battery or purchasing the Airtech Studios Battery Extension Unit in order to install larger batteries. For more information on ARP9/ARP556 batteries, and how to install them see our Guide on the subject. To access the battery compartment, simply remove the butt plate and stock bars by holding the adjustment lever down and pulling the butt plate off to the rear. Following this, push in the tab on the bottom of the battery tube which allows the end cap to be removed, revealing the Mini-Tamiya connector beneath.

The internals of the ARP556 V2S have been upgraded from the factory to allow for the use of 11.1V batteries, giving this AEG an absolutely monstrous rate of fire. Full auto on this beast will definitely do its job, with only the most fearless willing to brave the torrent of BBs this thing lays down. Semi-auto performance is as we would all expect, quick to cycle with minimal fuss and a very loud muzzle report. The version 2 gearbox of the ARP556 V2S contains an electronic trigger unit (E.T.U) which is the cause for the enhanced trigger response and will also serve to protect the AEG from power surges and damage to the trigger contacts from extended use of semi-auto. Also provided inside is a programmable MOSFET, allowing the trigger to be programmed for different modes of fire using the trigger and fire selector of the rifle to select the set-up you need, offering both burst and full auto options.

If you had your eye on the ARP9 but are resisting the temptation because you already have a shedload of M4 magazines, you are about out of excuses! The G&G ARP556 provides all the exceptional skirmish performance we have already seen in the ARP9, but in a metal body, with ambidextrous controls, and feeding from familiar and ever available M4/AR15 AEG magazines!

Special Instructions

To re-program Full Auto to 3 round Burst follow these steps:

  1. Remove Magazine
  2. Ensure the replica is cleared of any BBs
  3. Set the fire selector switch to semi-automatic
  4. Hold the trigger for 10 seconds
  5. You now have 3 round burst instead of Full Auto!

If you are having trouble installing a battery into the ARP556, please check out our guide on ARP9 battery installation. The guide is named for the ARP9 but the same applies to the ARP556.

The externals of the replica are metal where they would be on the real gun. This includes things like the outer barrel, handguard, and receiver. If a real gun has polymer parts then the gun will still be marked as full metal externals, examples of this would be an M4, where the Stock and Pistol Grip are always made from Polymer.

Special Instructions

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.

Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
