As one of Lancer Tactical's new line of AK AEGs, the LT-52 takes Lancer's philosophy of providing the best out of the box performance possible and wraps it up in a stamped steel receiver with authentic AK-105 style black polymer furniture. The LT-52 features a pre-installed electronic trigger unit, MOSFET, an adjustable metal HOP-up unit, and a high torque motor which works together with the Lancer gearbox internals to provide performance to rival Lancer's Pro Line M4s, but in modern the AK-105 format.

Description

We all know Lancer Tactical for their extensive line of well equipped, affordable M4/AR15 variants, as well as their Proline series of advanced M4/AR15 AEGs. The LT-52 is for all the Stalkers out there, the Metro dwellers, and the Spetsnaz milsimmers who are looking for an AK with Lancer's impressive ETU trigger system and MOSFET. This ETU MOSFET combination gives the LT-52 an extremely snappy trigger response with its pre-cocking function, as well as battery and circuitry protection to keep the LT-52 running effectively in the long term.  For the AK people that have felt left out of the MOSFET game, here is your opportunity to catch up with the M4 fans!

Starting at the tip of the barrel we can find an AK-105 style gas booster muzzle brake, which is intended in the real AK-105 to direct additional gas back into the operating mechanism to ensure the AK-105 keeps the AK typical reliability with its shortened barrel. The muzzle brake mounts to 14mm CCW male threads at the tip of the 12.5-inch outer barrel and can be swapped out for a suppressor or tracer unit if you are going for more of a Spetsnaz look for your AK. The front sight of the LT-52 is cast as part of the gas block,  providing an adjustable front post with protective wings to ensure an accidental bump or scrape does not render your sights useless. This connects to the gas tube, which is the correct design for an AK-105. The gas tube meets the polymer upper handguard via a steel handguard cap. The handguards of the LT-52 are styled after the standard AK-74 polymer type, with linear grooves for additional grip. These handguards match perfectly with the post-Bakelite era AK furniture, such as the side-folding solid stock and shortened AK-105 length outer barrel.

The lower handguard surrounds the outer barrel and is retained by its own steel handguard cap which includes a sling point on the left side, ideally for hook-type slings. The trunnion block also provides the mounting point for the classic AK tangent rear iron sight, which provides multiple graduations for adjustment and a fine rear sight notch to align with the front sight post. The sight can be adjusted by pressing the buttons on either side of the sight notch and moving the notch back and forth on its base. The lever on the right side is the handguard disassembly lever. This lever does not appear to provide a function on the LT-52 but can be moved back and forth. As part of the classic AK aesthetic, we can find a dummy cleaning rod running parallel to the outer barrel, stored on the weapon to give the Russian soldier less to remember! This isn't intended for cleaning an Airsoft barrel and is just for the look.

Next up we find the receiver, which is constructed from stamped steel, just like the real AK-105. The receiver has standard AK style controls on the right side, with a fire selector lever which doubles as a dust cover when in safe mode, and a charging handle attached to an authentic black dummy bolt carrier. In typical AK style, the first position on the fire selector is fully auto and the lowermost position is semi-automatic. Each fire mode is denoted by a crispy engraved authentic Russian Cyrillic marking, adding some realism to this already very realistic AK. Over on the left side, we can find an AK quick detach mounting rail, allowing for authentic Russian scopes to be mounted, or Picatinny rail mounts if you prefer a more modern western optic. The receiver also provides several authentic dummy rivets, all found in the correct place for this AK variant. On the right side, below the charging handle, we can find the laser engraved "LANCER TACTICAL 6MM" and beneath is your unique serial number.

To access the adjustable HOP-up unit of the LT-52, simply hold the charging handle to the rear to reveal the slider adjustable HOP unit. The slider unit is known as one of the best designs out there, and that is the reason this unit has not changed in design since the original Tokyo Marui AK-47 AEG. To increase the HOP effect, simply move the slider rearwards. Returning the slider to the front will reduce the HOP to its lowest setting.

The receiver top cover of the LT-52 is also constructed from stamped steel and is the appropriate design for a modern AK, with ribs stamped into the upper surface to provide additional strength whilst keeping the material thin and lightweight. The battery compartment for the LT-52 is beneath the top cover. To access the battery compartment, simply press the button at the rear of the top cover and it should come straight off, revealing the mini-Tamiya connector. The LT-52 is LiPo ready out of the box, and we recommend a 7.4V 1450mAh stick battery but you can also use a 9.6V NiMH stick battery if you prefer a NiMH battery. With the battery connected and installed, you can place the top cover back into the LT-52, align the button with the hole in the rear of the top cover, and pull the charging handle to lock the cover down if necessary.

The pistol grip of the LT-52 is a standard AKM/AK-74 type pistol grip, with diamond checkering on either side to ensure the LT-52 stays firmly in your grasp in any weather condition. The trigger guard and magazine release can be found just ahead of the pistol grip, and are constructed from steel to provide solid magazine locking and ample rigidity. The magazine release is placed in the centre of the receiver and is accessible from either side of the AEG. The magazine retention system of the AK platform is a "rock and lock" motion, requiring you to first index the front "hook" on the magazine inside the receiver, then rock the magazine to engage the catch.

The stock of the LT-52 is constructed from polymer, and is a realistically slim design to facilitate side folding functionality. The stock features a storage compartment within its steel butt plate, which can be opened using the large polymer button on the butt plate. This compartment is rather small and is intended for a cleaning kit, but could also be used to store batteries for any accessories on your AK, or any documentation you might need. To fold the stock to the side, simply press the button on the left side of the rear of the receiver, fold the stock to the left side and lock it on its hook. To unfold the stock, press the button on the butt plate to disengage the hook, and the stock can be folded into the deployed position and locked. The right side of the stock also features a steel sling loop which pairs well with the front sling point on the lower handguard cap, providing appropriate mounting apparatus for a two-point sling, but ideally suited to an AK47/74 sling.

Internally, the LT-52 is very impressive. Some Ruskie fanbois have been waiting quite some time for a steel-bodied AK that also packs all of the modern enhancements found in M4/AR15 AEGs, and now their prayers have been answered! The LT-52 boasts ultra-robust gearbox internals, including a steel toothed piston, 8mm bearings, an anodized cylinder for reduced internal friction, and a quick change bearing spring guide, allowing you to change the spring of your AEG without having to take the gearbox apart. To drive the gearbox, Lancer saw fit to provide a high torque motor capable of 19K RPM, and packing enough torque to handle stronger springs. To keep these internals in check, and provide an incredibly fast trigger response, the Lancer Tactical ETU and MOSFET have been installed, providing battery protection and providing pre-cocking to the LT-52. Pre-cocking means the piston starts its travel at the rear of the gearbox, in a pre-cocked position, instead of first needing to be cocked. This results in an exceptional trigger response; when the trigger is pulled, the piston drops without delay and without first needing to be pulled back. Phenomenal in a platform of this price range, especially an AK!

So, time for the AK fanbois to play catch up! The LT-52 easily rivals any out of the box ETU equipped M4/AR15 platform in its rate of fire and trigger response, and with the reinforced gearbox internals present in this rifle we are sure it will perform for many years to come! Time for the AK to become the fearsome platform in Airsoft that it is in the real world!
