The design specs for the Bolster Armouries Quartz were laid out by the Bolster Armouries technical teams' own resident IPSC shooter, to match the demanding performance requirements of an "Open Division" race gun. The Quartz is to a mass produced gas blowback pistol as a Ferrari is to a Kia Picanto: They both do approximately the same job, one just does it faster, with greater precision, whilst sporting the art gallery worthy looks of a true masterpiece. One is a thoroughbred, the other a workhorse.
The Quartz is equipped with everything you will need to perform your best at any competitive shooting event, and would also be a fearsome contender in an Airsoft skirmish. Its sighting system, the notable Vector Optics Frenzy-X sits in line with the cutting edge of modern handgun shooting doctrine and provides a crystal clear sight picture with a precise 3MOA dot reticle for rapid target acquisition and optimal situational awareness.
The ultra-light and flawlessly machined Airsoft Masterpiece IMM Cross Ver.5 slide provides the prerequisite "Open Division" looks, together with slick and snappy slide performance for an accelerated cyclic rate. The grip of the Quartz has been stippled by hand by the Bolster Armouries tech team, providing exceptional gripping qualities and signalling the custom nature of this GBB pistol with its intricate "cobweb" pattern. Behind the scenes, the Quartz is packing the absolute best parts for its task; boasting names such as CowCow technologies, CL Project Design and Laylax/Nineball, to name but a few.
Airsoft Masterpiece External and Internal Enhancements
Infinity IMM Cross Ver.5 Open Slide - Black/Gold - CNC Machined Aluminium
The Airsoft Masterpiece Infinity IMM Open Slide kit is CNC machined from Aircraft grade aluminium, and weighs an absolutely astonishingly low 265g, including its barrel and compensator! This is one of the many enhancements present on the Quartz which give it the astonishing cyclic rate one would expect for a competition optimised Airsoft GBB and the supercar-esque looks of an Open Division pistol. The slide does away with iron sights, in line with its "open class" style, they will only slow you down when you are rocking the Quartz! The rear iron sight dovetail remains, but instead of a sight it now houses a CNC machined aluminium cocking handle which protrudes on the left side of the pistol, replacing the slide serrations for a more easily grabbed handle which you will never miss when time is of the essence. The cocking handle has zig-zag style diamond texturing to ensure the smooth and flawless finish does not inhibit your grip on the control. The slide also provides a secondary gripping surface at the rear so you can keep the pistol under control in those moments when it all goes wrong, and carry out some rapid corrective actions to prevent a DQ.
The compensator of the IMM Open slide kit is also machined from Aircraft grade aluminium, and attaches directly to the barrel, as opposed to the frame, to ensure there are no mechanical weaknesses in the design which might loosen over time, and freeing up the dust cover area for a 20mm Picatinny rail. This rail might not be much use in a shooting competition, but for skirmishing, it provides the perfect location for the addition of a tactical flashlight. The compensator not only looks fantastic, finished in contrasting gold, but adds weight to the muzzle to near eliminate muzzle flip, allowing for rapid follow up shots without having to correct by pulling the pistol back down onto target. The compensator includes a port on either side and two ports at the top, together with a linear texturing design which mates perfectly with that of the slide. The comp and slide also feature a textured surface across the top which is intended to prevent glare from ambient light sources reflecting off the top of the slide and interfering with your sight picture. In the real firearm, this texture also prevents a "heat mirage" from forming, ensuring the shooter has a clear view of the target.
Edge M1 Magazine Well - CNC Machined Aluminium

The Edge M1 magazine well is CNC machined from Aluminium, and has an extremely wide flare which should aid the shooter in carrying out a fumble-free reload without having to work "eyes down" on the pistol, instead, allowing you to spend those precious milliseconds scanning for the next target. This is a very important part in a race pistol and can make all the difference when it comes to reload times. You can practice all day long and granted, you can become very fast without a magazine well extension. With this muscle memory built up the Edge M1 allows you to confidently carry out reloads at full speed, on the clock, whilst preventing any adrenaline-fueled blunders by guiding your magazine into the magazine well thanks to its wide flare.
The design of this mag well extension also allows it to be used as a palm rest, which helps encourage an effective, comfortable, and consistent grip on your pistol. This magazine well extension is larger than many others and leans into the race pistol aesthetic with its linear weight reducing cuts along each side, making it a perfect match for the Bolster Armouries Quartz. The Quartz aesthetic, together with the overall shape of the Edge M1 mag well makes this thing look like it is about to break the sound barrier!
Bolster Armouries Custom Stippled Grip - Polymer
Each Bolster Armouries Quartz pistol has its grip custom stippled by the Bolster team with a super grippy and exceptionally comfortable "cobweb" style pattern. Grip stippling has rapidly grown in popularity in recent years, and a stipple job is now considered a prerequisite characteristic of a custom pistol. As such, many Airsofters attempt a stipple job, but due to the delicate nature of this task and the permanent nature of the modification, this often requires a lot of practice to perfect, and as such it is not recommended for beginners.
Our Bolster Armouries techs are absolutely fluent in the language of soldering irons and melting plastic, and have been carrying out stipple jobs on their own custom guns for many years. This proficiency shows in the quality of the stipple job on the Quartz, which is not only extremely effective in keeping the pistol securely in the shooter's hands but also looks fantastic with its intricate cobweb design.

Steel Hammer and Sear INFINITY HD - Stainless Steel

The Airsoft Masterpiece Steel Hammer and Sear set was chosen for the Quartz due not only to its high quality stainless steel construction but due to its sporty skeletonised design, which fits in perfectly with the design language of the Quartz. The hammer is finished in gold, matching the pistols compensator and outer barrel and tying the whole custom piece together. As far as performance goes, this hammer and sear set combine with the Airsoft Masterpiece trigger components to provide a light and crisp trigger pull, akin to breaking glass, with an ultra short reset enabling rapid, accurate fire. The hammer is also designed to provide more reliable performance on Green gas, as the part is designed to work with higher pressure gas from the outset, without the need for a stronger hammer spring.
Steel Thumb Safety Type 4- SV Wide - Steel

The Airsoft Masterpiece Thumb safety Type 4 was chosen for the Quartz, primarily due to its extended design making it well suited for an Open division pistol and the speed at which it is intended to be operated. The left side catch is nearly double the size of a standard Hi-capa thumb safety which allows the shooter to reach the control swiftly, with no chance of missing or slipping off the control. The right side catch is also enlarged, but to a smaller degree than the left. Each catch sports linear checkering machined into its upper surface, ensuring that you get a good solid purchase on the safety and that it can be used as a "gas pedal" to provide an additional index point for the thumb during firing, improving overall control over the pistol.
Steel Grip Safety STI Type 1 - Steel

The Airsoft Masterpiece Grip Safety Type 1 is CNC machined from steel and is intended to provide an extended beavertail grip safety to both prevent your pistol from being fired inadvertently, and to allow for the pistol to be fired quickly, straight from the draw, even if your grip is not perfect. The STI style of grip safety provides a serrated extension to the safety, allowing it to be disengaged immediately upon gripping the pistol without having to think about it, and is as forgiving of a less than perfect grip as most would feel comfortable with, without risking a negligent discharge. The precise steel construction of this part ensures that the safety functions reliably at all times, and eliminates the possibility of the part wearing down over time. This part is finished in gold, complimenting the other gold components of the Bolster Armouries Quartz.
Puzzle Trigger - Black/Gold - CNC Aluminium

The Airsoft Masterpiece puzzle trigger is constructed from Aluminium and consists of two parts; the base, and the trigger itself. The base includes a grub screw which provides adjustment of the trigger overtravel, allowing the Quartz to have a crisp and reliable trigger pull with little over travel. The trigger has been set-up to provide optimum performance by the Bolster Armouries team, if you require your trigger to be adjusted please get in touch as this should only be done by a Bolster Armouries technician.

The Airsoft Masterpiece Trigger ring is constructed from Stainless Steel and is intended to reduce the flex in this trigger linkage part to practically nothing, contributing to the clean, sharp trigger pull of the Quartz Hi-capa. The engagement surfaces of this part are precisely machined, representing a significant step up from alternative Hi-capa trigger parts. Having a beautiful external trigger is only half the battle fought, and having internal engagement surfaces with a high degree of precision is essential for a responsive and dependable trigger which will not let you down when it matters.

The Airsoft Masterpiece Steel Disconnector and Valve knocker serve to improve the gas efficiency of the Quartz and contribute to its smooth mechanical operation. These parts are CNC machined from Steel, providing ample strength for repeated performance over a long life span and practically no chance of the parts wearing and causing a drop in efficiency. This is particularly important when it comes to the valve knocker; a part known to wear over time following repeated impacts with the valve in the magazine. With the Airsoft Masterpiece Valve Knocker installed you are guaranteed reliable and consistent performance for a lifetime of repeated, regular use.

Airsoft Masterpiece are well known for providing the best parts for the Hi-capa GBB platform and are particularly focused on providing precisely machined metallic components such as slides, controls and internal components. Their brass HOP-up base is widely regarded as the best option for a replacement HOP unit for a Hi-capa, and is considered an essential upgrade for any Hi-capa that will be facing off against other upgraded pieces in the context of a competition or skirmish.
The unit is made entirely from brass and is precisely machined to provide a perfect air seal, with a polished loading ramp to ensure the Quartz consistently and smoothly chambers a BB with each cycle. This unit is particularly valuable when used in a short stroke setup, such as the Quartz, where the HOP unit is under much greater stress from the incredibly swift cyclic rate. One of the only scenarios that will break a stock alloy Hi-capa HOP base is putting it through the constant, repeated impacts of a sprightly open class competition pistol like the Quartz, as such, when the specs were being decided for the Bolster Armouries Hi-capas the Airsoft Masterpiece Brass HOP base was top of the list to ensure these pistols are as durable as they are beautiful.
Optical Sight and Mount
Vector Optics Frenzy-X 1x20x28 RD 3MOA IP6 rated with JL Progression Amphibious Red Dot Sight Mount
The QUARTZ Hi-capa comes from Bolster Armouries with a Vector Optics Frenzy-X with an enlarged window size of 20x28mm pre-installed. This sight provides an extremely wide field of view for a slide mounted optic, allowing maximum situational awareness with minimal obstruction.
The Frenzy-X is mounted to the Quartz via a JLP Amphibious mount, one of the most well regarded red dot sight mounts for the Hi-capa platform. The mount is made from Aircraft grade aluminium and is an ultra light design with an extremely low height over bore, reducing your workload whilst you ring steel at close range by all but removing the need to compensate for height overbore. The JLP mount attaches directly to the frame of the Quartz, providing the absolute most stable mounting platform possible, and eliminating the need for Picatinny rails which only provide unnecessary excess weight on a competition pistol.
The Frenzy series of red dot sights have quickly become known as the best option available to Airsofters as far as a slide mounted optic is concerned, sporting precise construction, together with fog, shock and waterproofing (rated IPX6 waterproof up to 1m depth for 30 minutes). The Frenzy-X provides a 3MOA dot which is ideal for pistol use and can be set to any of 8 brightness levels for the visible spectrum, and two levels for the infrared mode (for use with night vision). This sight is rated to withstand the recoil of real firearms, and can reportedly handle the recoil from a .338 Lapua Magnum cartridge, so there is absolutely no danger that the sight will lose its zero under rapid strings of fire from your speedy Hi-capa Quartz!
The Frenzy is powered by a single CR2032 button cell, meaning batteries are common and affordable. The manufacturer quotes that the sight can provide up to 20,000 hours of battery life on its lowest brightness setting, and 40,000 hours on the infrared mode. The sight has a built in auto shut-down, meaning if the sight detects that it is idle the dot will turn itself off before it burns through your batteries. As we all know there is an endless list of chores before and after an Airsoft skirmish, at least with the Frenzy-X you can rest assured that forgetting your sight is turned on will not make for any unpleasant surprises in the future!

CowCow Technology Enhanced Internal components
Trident Sear Spring - Hammer Power Regulator - Competition Recoil Buffer
CowCow Technology was founded in 2018, with the intention of providing high quality, innovative parts for Airsoft RIFs intended for both skirmishing and Action Air competitions. CowCow's focus is primarily on GBB pistols, and they are rapidly gaining the reputation as the go-to source for high end Hi-capa, AAP-01 and G series pistol parts for builds requiring higher performance than the standard skirmish sidearm, as well as exceptional durability for long term use within high performance builds. This lies directly in line with the stated objectives of the Bolster Armouries Hi-capa series, and as such many of the components considered the "beating heart" of a premium GBB build have been entrusted to CowCow components.
The internal springs of the Bolster Armouries Quartz have been replaced with CowCow alternatives to raise its cyclic rate, improve its gas efficiency and guarantee the durability expected from a high end custom piece. The Trident sear spring has been installed, providing a smooth, crisp and light trigger pull and guaranteeing consistent hammer-knocker engagement.
To further improve the trigger feel of the Quartz, the CowCow hammer power regulator has been installed, and finely tuned to provide improved reliability with green gas, and a consistent and powerful hammer stroke. The power regulator is CNC machined from stainless steel and its spring is constructed from high strength spring steel to maintain the impressive performance and reliability of the Quartz for its entire lifespan.
The CowCow Competition recoil buffer has been installed in order to reduce the wear on the front of the slide, and to increase the cyclic rate by "short stroking" the slide. A "short stroked" slide travels slightly less than its full length of travel and is intended to provide a split-second advantage on the clock, enabling rapid follow up shots. This adds to the Quartz's extra snappy performance and furthers its plethora of advantages, whether it is for a competition shoot or an Airsoft skirmish.
Maple Leaf Crazy Jet Inner Barrel 113mm - Brass and Steel

Installing a Maple Leaf Crazy Jet into any Airsoft gun is one of the most effective upgrades possible, especially when coupled with an aftermarket HOP-up rubber. The principle behind this barrel's design is to provide an ultra-stable air cushion surrounding the BB for the entire duration of its journey down the barrel, to prevent the BB from impacting the sides of the barrel which can cause fliers and accuracy issues, even in tightbore barrel setups. This is known as the "wide bore" principle, which is intended to provide similar performance to tight bore inner barrels whilst minimising the chances of jams, and reducing the frequency of necessary barrel cleaning.
The Maple Leaf Crazy Jet takes this principle, and runs with it, adding their own innovation to the idea of a "wide bore" barrel with the "jet stream" system, which ensures that the BB also exits the barrel without making contact; correcting one of the downfalls of the wide bore barrel and providing performance that is widely recognised as a vast improvement over tightbore barrels, especially in gas-powered RIFs. Coupled with the right HOP-up rubber, as in the Quartz Hi-capa, this barrel provides range and accuracy once thought impossible with spherical ammunition of relatively low weight.
Laylax/Nineball VSR-10 HOP rubber - Soft rubber

Laylax/Nineball are well known for manufacturing some of the best aftermarket components for Airsoft RIFs, and their internal parts have been finding their way into high end builds for decades. Their VSR-10 HOP rubber is widely used in sniper rifle builds and provides a widened contact surface to apply additional HOP effect over a greater area than a standard rubber. This ensures the BB is stabilised across its entire upper surface and practically eliminates side to side shot deviation. The internal walls of the Nineball HOP rubber are moulded to ensure the BB is chambered consistently with each shot, as well as to enhance air seal and reduce power loss, thereby improving gas efficiency. This HOP rubber is also designed with durability in mind and is known to be one of the most robust "soft" HOP rubbers available which both suit UK legal velocities and last a lifetime.
CL Project Design Super Hard Loading Nozzle - Reinforced Polymer

The CL Project Design super hard loading nozzle is almost definitely the strongest loading nozzle currently on the market. The part is designed by Clarence Lai, also known as the "Airsoft Surgeon", a big name, if not the biggest name in Hong Kong for competition-oriented Airsoft GBB pistols. If you have not seen Mr Lai in action, we suggest you pop his name into your favourite search engine!
This nozzle was designed based on the experience of the Airsoft Surgeon, and weaknesses he identified when customising and shooting high performance Hi-capa GBB pistols in competitions. The nozzle is constructed from a reinforced polymer which has been specifically formulated for increased hardness which is essential to reduce wear over time, prevent the nozzle from breaking in the event of a jam and provide consistent reliable loading for a long life of high performance.

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.

This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
