Description

A classic choice for those into the spec-ops style of gameplay, the Airsoft JG M5 Series SMG-5 SD6 is the perfect choice for those who prefer the satisfaction of a good stealth kill. An iconic weapon used by the SAS, SBS, US Navy SEALs and US Army Delta Force to name a few, this SMG is the bread and butter of special operations, with this variant featuring a compact stock to manoeuvre round those tight corridors.

Of course they key feature of the SMG-5 is the integrated suppressor. This is mostly for the killer aesthetics, however the  SD6 makes it hard to pinpoint the location of fire due to the lack of a loud "pop" at the muzzle. It certainly fits the loadout for the more stealthy operator, who know that a more sneaky style of play is extra rewarding and satisfying.

As we move rearwards we come to the rubberized ridged  handguard, with it's ergonomic design it is comfortable to grip and the rubberized surface ensures you don't slip off the handguard when operating in poor weather or intense battle conditions.

Mounted above the handguard we have the fully hooded front sight, which protects the sight from knocks and bumps and provides an outer circle for rapid snap shooting when there isn't time to aim properly. Attached to the front sight block we can find the metal front sling point, compatible with any two point sling.

The cocking handle is located behind the front sight on the left hand side and can be rotated up into the locked position for added realism. Although the cocking handle is metal, though the receiver and cocking tube are polymer, thus we do not recommend the "H&K slap" be performed on this due to the possibility that parts will be damaged.

Next up, we reach the receiver, which has integrated mounting lugs for SMG-5 style receiver mounts, which gives you the option to attach a scope mount, facilitating the attachment of a range of optical or red dot sight, should your fancy augmenting your playstyle and functionality.

Along the top of the receiver is mounted  an SMG-5 style rotary-drum sight, which provides an 4 point adjustable aperture to adjust your aiming on the fly, depending on the range of your targets and what kind of accuracy you find yourself requiring.

The lower receiver features bright and highly visible pictograms indicating the firing modes, with white used to indicate safe, and red bullet symbols indicating semi and fully automatic. The fire selector is ambidextrous as it is present on either side of the replica, making the SMG-5 SD6 equally effective for left or right-handed users.

The magazine release can be found just forward of the trigger and can be accessed from either side. This is a paddle-type release, though it also features a button on the right side of the receiver as a secondary way to release the magazine.

This variant of the SMG-5 is the collapsible stock, meaning when you aren't aiming the length of the rifle can be reduced right down, perfect for those tight spaces and corridors in CQB skirmishes, giving you that extra manoeuvrability that helps keeps you alive in game!

The stock features a rubber butt pad, making the SMG comfortable to shoulder and keeping the stock securely gripped to the shooter's shoulder, when extended, regardless of any tactical gear/backpack straps the user is wearing. On the left side of the stock we can find a classic German-style sling loop, allowing 2 point slings to be used on the SMG-5 SD6.

Internally, the SMG-5 SD6 uses a metal version.2 gearbox and is a 100% clone of the Tokyo Marui SMG-5, meaning should you want to upgrade your SMG-5 SD6 in the future you have the option to. The M5 uses a slider adjustable HOP unit, allowing range and accuracy to be maximised. The adjuster is located on the left side of the rifle, behind the charging handle just peeking out from the handguard. The battery compartment for this AEG is located within the handguard, accessed by .removing the two square tabs on the upper middle sections either side of the handguard, then sliding it off. We recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh 20c LiPo Crane Stock Battery as each cell fits nicely within each side of the handguard.

This AEG is optimised in its external layout for CQB operations but its superb out of the box velocity (330 FPS +/- 10%) means it can still hold its own in a woodland skirmish, particularly if you know how to be sneaky!

For those of you with a stealthy loadout and playstyle in mind, the JG M5 Series SMG-5 SD6 is an affordable AEG, whether you’re new to Airsoft or a veteran player looking to switch it up. With a solid build quality is a brilliant piece of kit, featuring mod-cons such as suppressor and collapsible stock, which is perfect for CQB style engagments. From being used as the focal point of accurate Special Forces impressions, to simply being a reliable back up gun, this SMG-5 replica offers Airsofters an incredibly versatile and practical replica with a wide range of potential uses.
