Our Patrol Base X Delta Armory DA-C05 Patrol Base Starter Bundle has made a return, a complete Airsoft beginner bundle packaged with everything you need to get stuck into either indoor CQB sessions or full days of outdoor gameplay. This iconic Airsoft shape is known as the "M4 SD", an M4/AR-15 platform equipped with an integral suppressor and an extended inner barrel, making it an ideal build for both close-quarters and long-range engagements outdoors.
The Patrol Base Starter bundle includes the DA-C05 Silent Ops 7 with limited edition Patrol Base markings and the Psionics Berserker upgraded HOP-up bucking, 3 mid-cap magazines, 2 9.6V NiMH batteries, a NiMH battery charger and a 1KG bulk bag of Delta Armory EAGLE 0.25g Biodegradable ammo containing approximately 4000 BBs. If you like your ARs with a side of stealth, this should get your juices flowing! The Delta Armory DA-C05 CHARLIE™ M4/AR-15 Silent Ops 7 AEG, giving you most of the pre-upgraded internals present in the ALPHA™ range, contained inside a high-density polymer shell with an alloy outer barrel, resulting in the same impressive downrange effect with considerable weight savings.
Starting at the front end, we can find a pre-installed suppressor which covers the 330mm 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, mounting to the 5-inch alloy outer barrel. This gives the Silent Ops 7 the look of an integrally suppressed AR with a compact front end, which makes it easy to take corners in CQB. The suppressor mounts to 14mm CCW male threading, but due to the inner barrel length, a barrel extension will be required to mount a tracer unit.
Surrounding the suppressor, we have a polymer 20mm Picatinny Quad Railed handguard with 20mm rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions, ready for any 20mm accessories you choose to add to complete your mission. Styled after the real steel KAC RIS, the handguard has a realistic look and unlike similar integrally suppressed platforms with KeyMod or M-LOK handguards, you will never have trouble mounting mission essentials to the quad rail of the DA-C05, as it doesn't require clearance between the handguard and suppressor.
The receiver follows the familiar M4/AR-15 format but is styled up with some unique Delta Armory flair. Constructed from high-density polymer with angled surfaces and gripping texture on the front of the magazine well, this receiver is rocking the "billet" aesthetic, mimicking real enhanced AR-15 receivers constructed from a single block of aluminium. The finish on the receiver is consistent and strong enough to resist scratches more effectively than most metal receivers, making the Silent Ops 7 ideal for those who skirmish like a bull in a china shop!
In our Patrol Base Starter Bundle, the DA-C05 is rocking the Patrol Base Star logo on the left side of the receiver, where you'll find the manufacturer's roll marks on a real AR-15 rifle. The fire selector/Safety can be found on the left side, positioned just above the pistol grip for fast access from a firing grip.
The selector provides three modes of fire: Safe, Semi-Auto, and Full Auto, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. The modes are all indicated with modern bullet pictograms, with a crossed-out projectile for safe, a single projectile for semi and multiple projectiles for full auto. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is easily reached from a firing grip with the trigger finger, allowing for super swift emergency reloads and the enviable handling the M4/AR-15 platform is known for.
The mock bolt catch is located in the centre of the left side of the receiver, and while this is a dummy control which doesn't provide a function, it is nonetheless a separate part to maintain the realistic appearance and avoid the tell-tale signs of being a replica. The dummy forward assist is present on the right side of the upper receiver, right where it should be. This control does nothing on an AEG, and some real AR shooters argue it does nothing on the real thing, but it is included on the Silent Ops 7 to keep the rifle faithful to real M4/AR-15 rifles.
The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver and doesn't need to be pulled before the first shot. It instead serves to retract the mock bolt carrier and open the dust cover on the right side of the upper receiver, giving us access to the rotary Hop-Up unit inside. The HOP-up allows you to tune the flight path of your BBs and set the DA-C05 up for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest trajectory possible.
The use of the rotary adjuster style is a nice touch and futureproofs the Silent Ops 7 with the most modern HOP-up design for the M4/AR-15 platform, boasting an improved ability to hold its setting under the vibrations of firing and being adjustable in finer increments than the older "gear" adjuster design. An extra bonus present in the DA-C05 Patrol Base Starter Bundle is the pre-installed Psionics Berserker HOP-up bucking, providing superb range and accuracy far exceeding rival platforms, especially when used with 0.28g BBs!
The Pistol Grip boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed, ideal for modern shooting stances. Based on the real steel "Gunfighter mod.3" grip, a modern ergonomic design, each flank of the pistol grip includes fine texturing for perfect wet-weather handling. The trigger guard is built into the receiver, improving strength and allowing gloved fingers easy access to the trigger, even when wearing full-finger gloves. The trigger is known as the CNC Type A Flat trigger, offering a flat serrated front surface with a short finger ledge, ideal for rapid double taps.
At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD-style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction of the sling plate practically guarantees no matter what you choose to mount to the plethora of 20mm rails on the Silent Ops 7, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight.
To the rear of the sling plate, we come to the M4/AR-15 buffer tube, made from the same strong high-density polymer used for the receiver. The buffer tube offers 6 positions of stock adjustment for the pre-installed Delta Armory battery stock, allowing you to set the stock at the perfect length to suit your body type and loadout.
The Sliding Stock is constructed from high-density polymer throughout, with a steel adjustment pin to eliminate wobble and steel QD sling sockets on either side, ready for QD sling swivels to be added. The stock is a "club foot" style design with a low-profile adjustment lever, reducing the possibility of equipment snags slowing you down.
To access the battery compartment, squeeze the two tabs at the toe of the stock together, after which you can lift the butt plate off to find a Deans connector inside the central tube. MORE and make use of the stock's built-in battery compartment to house one of the two included 9.6V 1100mAh NiMH nunchuck/crane-style batteries. If you're using either of the included batteries, you'll need to plug in the Deans to mini-Tamiya adapter included in the set before connecting the battery.
With the included Deans to mini-Tamiya adapter connected to the Deans connector inside the central tube, you can plug your battery in, insert each cell group into the tubes on either side of the stock, tuck your wiring in neatly and reinstall the butt plate. You can also use 7.4V LiPo batteries with the Silent Ops 7, but make sure you only charge LiPo batteries using a LiPo balance charger, as the included NiMH charger is only for NiMH batteries.
