Platform Details
Starting at the tip of the 13" outer barrel, we can find a lovely replica of the real steel "SF" muzzle brake, designed to reduce muzzle climb under rapid fire. The brake looks fantastic and suits the speedy competition styling of the Skeletonised FREYA™ perfectly. If you prefer a more tactical look or want to mount a tracer unit or suppressors, it's easy thanks to the common 14mm CCW male barrel threading.
Surrounding the barrel, we are treated to a uniquely lightweight skeletonised handguard boasting M-LOK slots on the bottom and a 20mm Picatinny rail running along the top. The sides boast triangular weight-reducing ports, with 2.5 M-LOK slots at the front for extra accessories. The skeletonised handguard makes the front end easy and fast to point, pairing perfectly with the skeletonised receiver.
On the top of the handguard, we can find our front flip-up iron sight, which is spring-loaded and requires pressing the textured surface at the rear to deploy. The rear sight is mounted to the receiver rail and functions the same way; simply press the button and up it pops.
Elevation adjustments are applied to the front sight using an AR-15 front sight adjustment tool, and windage on the rear sight via the dial on the right side. The rear sight also features two apertures, a fine one for bright conditions and accurate semi-auto fire and a wider one for low light scenarios and full auto. The sights are rail-mounted and removable, just in case you're a "spray and pray" kinda skirmisher!
Following the handguard, we come to the receiver, which is constructed from alloy with a unique skeletonised design based on the real steel GrandPower R15 FREYA™ receiver. Like the original FREYA™, weight-reduction recesses are found throughout, shaving off precious grams so you can keep your pace high on the field.
This, the "Skeletonised" FREYA, also features ports on the magazine well and rear of the upper receiver, removing excess material for even more weight savings while adding the lightning-fast race rifle look inspired by real-world rifles used in 3-Gun competitions. This goes hand-in-hand with the metallic accents on the controls, tying together for a uniquely speedy look.
The forward assist button, usually found on the right side of the upper, has been deleted, just like the best of real steel AR platforms. The mock brass deflector is considerably smaller than mil-spec M4s, further reducing weight. As we would expect for a modern AR, the receiver boasts a 20mm Picatinny rail, meaning you can mount a red dot sight or scope straight away with no extra adapters needed.
The layout of the controls matches other M4/AR-15 platforms, meaning no need to retrain if you are used to a standard AR despite the unique receiver design. The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip and offers 3 modes of fire: SAFE, SEMI and AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each. With the EAGLE™ ETU on board, you also have the option to program the selector for burst modes, binary trigger, semi-auto only and more.
This makes the selector easy to switch, but not so easy that it can be knocked out of position accidentally. Each mode is denoted with laser-engraved "SAFE-FIRE-AUTO" markings. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is accessible for a right-handed user with the tip of the trigger finger.
Pulling back the charging handle, located at the top rear of the receiver, will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt carrier to allow access to the rotary HOP-up adjuster. The charging handle has an extended latch for easier access, allowing even those with thick gloves to access the HOP-up unit, though you may need to take off a glove to turn the adjuster!
The pistol grip boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and in more modern shooting stances. Each flank includes fine crackle texturing, with additional linear texture on the front and back for perfect wet-weather handling. The trigger is a "flat" trigger with a short finger ledge and textured front, making it ideal for pumping out rapid semi-automatic shots in CQB.
The stock itself is a minimalist PDW-style stock which can be compressed to an ultra-short length for CQB use or for transportation in smaller gun cases. The butt plate includes linear texture moulded into its design to ensure the stock stays solidly in your shoulder, with textured panels on the top and at either side to provide a comfortable cheek weld.
The buffer tube of the PDW stock sits beneath the butt plate when the stock is collapsed and doubles as the battery compartment. To access it, you will need to hold down the stock removal catch on the left side, then slide the butt plate and stock bars off to the rear.
With the butt plate removed, you can unscrew the buffer tube, revealing a Deans/T-Plug battery connector inside. We recommend a 7.4V 1450mAh LiPo in stick configuration for the R15 FREYA™ Gen.2 Skeletonised for an easy fit and superb performance.
Internals
Inside the Skeletonised FREYA™, we're treated to Delta Armory's unique GOLEM™ reinforced version 2 gearbox, featuring a reinforced front end, cylinder window radius cuts and an AOE-correction window to improve long-term reliability and allow for easy tuning, maintenance and upgrade installation. The GOLEM™ also boasts a stylish metallic finish, visible through the receiver's skeletonisation cuts.
The gearset is a robust CNC 16:1 ratio example, running on 8mm ball bearing bushings for a smooth gearbox report and a boost in rate of fire. The usual Delta Armory pre-upgrades are present, including an SHS piston with a full steel tooth rack, an SHS tappet plate, and a CNC aluminium piston head, cylinder head and nozzle for maximum long-term durability. The cylinder is also CNC machined from steel, as is the spring guide.
These ultra-strong CNC parts are powered by a high-torque motor with Neodymium magnets, kept in check by the EAGLE™ ETU/MOSFET system. The ability to choose 3 or 5-round burst, binary trigger, sniper delay, semi-automatic only, AUG mode, trigger sensitivity settings and active braking levels gives the FREYA™ the edge over practically any other platform in this price range.

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
