If you're after a high-performance sniper rifle that stands apart from the sea of VSR-10 platforms, the WELL PRO MB01AE is a fantastic option. Modelled after the legendary L96 sniper rifle, this bolt-action platform replicates the rifle used by the British Army and numerous military and law enforcement units around the world.

On the outside, the MB01AE keeps things practical, featuring a 20mm Picatinny rail ready for your choice of optic, front and rear sling attachment points, and the distinctive L96 bipod mounting socket, giving you everything you need to build a capable long-range loadout.

Building on the proven MB01 platform, the AE version arrives with a comprehensive set of factory upgrades. Internally, it features a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel for improved precision, a steel spring guide, a 90-degree piston and trigger sear set, along with reinforced steel components throughout the trigger mechanism for enhanced durability and reliability.

Description

If you've been searching for a British-style sniper rifle that performs as impressively as it looks, the WELL PRO MB01AE Upgraded Version deserves a place on your shortlist. This upgraded model benefits from reinforced steel and aluminium internal components, providing improved durability and consistency over the standard version. Combined with its high-density polymer chassis and CNC-machined aluminium receiver, it offers a realistic appearance backed up by robust construction.

Starting at the muzzle, the MB01AE features an aluminium outer barrel, matching the construction of the real L96 rifle. The barrel is threaded, although the exact thread specification could not be confirmed. A range of aftermarket thread adapters are available, provided they are compatible with the WELL PRO L96 platform.

Moving rearwards, we come to the distinctive L96-style chassis, faithfully replicating the original Accuracy International design. Finger grooves at the forend improve grip, while the thumbhole stock provides a comfortable shooting position. At the rear, both the cheekpiece and butt plate are adjustable, allowing you to tailor the rifle to your preferred shooting stance. The chassis itself is manufactured from high-density reinforced polymer and is secured to the action using three mounting screws, creating a rigid fit with excellent stability and virtually eliminating barrel movement.

At the front of the chassis you'll find the classic L96 bipod spigot, allowing direct installation of Atlas-style bipods or compatible tri-rail adapters for additional accessory options. The WELL Picatinny Bipod makes an ideal companion. Additional sling loops are positioned on either side of the forend, allowing a two-point sling to be fitted using the matching rear sling attachment points.

Just behind is the magazine well. The magazine release is positioned at the front of the well and sits recessed into the chassis, helping to prevent accidental magazine drops while moving through woodland or rough terrain. This area also houses the HOP-up adjustment point. Located just ahead of the magazine release, the HOP can be adjusted with an Allen key, allowing you to fine-tune the rifle for your preferred BB weight.

Further back, the CNC-machined aluminium receiver captures the unmistakable profile of the L96 platform. The integrated 20mm Picatinny rail is machined directly into the receiver, resulting in a stronger and more rigid mounting solution than separate bolt-on rails found on many competing replicas. The CNC manufacturing process also delivers sharper detailing and greater overall strength than cast alloy alternatives.

The safety catch is positioned on the right-hand side of the bolt, just like the real rifle. It takes the form of a textured sliding lever, allowing you to quickly switch between safe and fire. A red indicator beneath the lever provides a clear visual confirmation when the rifle is set to fire.

The MB01AE is styled after the original L96, which means it has a fixed stock instead of the folding stock. This is a direct extension of the chassis/receiver, meaning the entire lower of the sniper is a single piece of moulded high-density polymer. This makes it incredibly hard-wearing and durable, with no folding mechanism that could fail whilst on the battlefield.

The thumbhole stock is one of the standout features of the MB01AE, offering a noticeably more comfortable shooting position than a conventional rifle stock, particularly when firing from the prone. Its ergonomic pistol grip fills the hand naturally, and with a symmetrical design free from awkward mouldings, it is equally comfortable for both left and right-handed shooters.

The adjustable cheekpiece allows you to achieve the perfect eye alignment with your chosen optic, or it can be removed entirely if you prefer to run a full-face mask. Adjustment is quick and straightforward using the pair of locking screws on the right-hand side. Simply loosen them, raise or lower the cheekpiece to your preferred height, then tighten them back down to secure the setting.

The butt plate can also be adjusted to suit your setup. By removing the included spacer, you can shorten the length of pull, making the rifle more comfortable when wearing plate carriers or bulky tactical gear. The L96 stock design has earned a strong reputation among both Airsoft players and real firearm enthusiasts thanks to its excellent ergonomics, and the upgraded rubber butt pad fitted to the MB01AE further improves comfort and shoulder stability.

Internally, the MB01AE receives a substantial upgrade over the original platform. A 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel helps maximise air efficiency while improving consistency and accuracy, especially when paired with quality heavyweight BBs. The trigger assembly has been reinforced with a 90-degree trigger sear and upgraded steel components, making it better suited to higher-powered spring setups. A CNC-machined aluminium piston provides improved strength and an effective air seal, while the stainless steel cylinder delivers a smooth and consistent bolt pull.

Another major advantage is its excellent upgrade compatibility. Most internal components follow the VSR-10 standard, opening the door to a huge range of aftermarket upgrades. The spring uses the APS2 specification with a 9mm diameter, while the HOP-up bucking is compatible with both VSR and GBB rubbers, giving you access to one of the largest selections of aftermarket HOP components available.

Whether you're stepping into the sniper role for the first time or looking for a capable platform with plenty of upgrade potential, the WELL PRO MB01AE is an outstanding option. Its realistic handling, comfortable ergonomics and reinforced internals make it a pleasure to use straight out of the box. Pair it with a quality optic, dial in your HOP, and you'll be ready to dominate long sightlines at your next skirmish.

Special Instructions

The WELL PRO MB01AE Bolt Action Sniper Rifle, Upgraded Version, is not supplied pre-built and will require assembly. This is relatively easy, but is not explained clearly in the included user manual.

  • First, lower the action into the chassis with the barrel slightly raised, indexing the extension at the rear of the trigger guard into the slot inside the stock.
  • With this done, push the action down into the chassis until it touches the barrel at the front, taking care to ensure the magazine release assembly is aligned with the chassis.
  • With the action positioned in the chassis, tighten the screw behind the magazine well. Please take care not to overtighten the screw, as this can cause damage to the internals.
