If you're after a milsim-friendly platform with a full metal build and pre-upgraded internals, you've found what you need with the ARCTURUS Saber® FE™ URGI MK16 M4/AR-15 AEG! Inspired by the real steel MK16 URGI (Upper Receiver Group - Improved) issued by USASOC (US Army Special Operations Command) as an alternative upper for M4A1 and MK18 rifles, making it ideal for modern US Army Ranger loadouts!

Inside, the Saber® FE™ is a considerable improvement over the previous ARCTURUS Saber, offering revamped internals with the latest and greatest goodies. The inner barrel is a 6.02mm tightbore made from stainless steel, offering an FPS boost and enhanced accuracy, keeping the edge over brass tightbores thanks to improved rigidity.

The gearbox is designed with strength and low-friction in mind, equipped with 18:1 ratio CNC steel gears running on 8mm ball bearing bushings, a quick change spring guide, a CNC POM air nozzle and an MIM steel pinion gear. This slick setup is driven by a high torque 25K Neodymium magnet motor and enhanced by the FE™ programmable MOSFET, offering programmable fire modes and a plethora of customisation options built right in! If you want to hit the field with a MK16 URGI which doesn't need upgrading, the ARCTURUS Saber® FE™ URGI MK16 M4/AR-15 AEG is ideal!

Starting at the tip of the alloy outer barrel, we can find an SF-style tri-prong flash hider which attaches to the barrel's 14mm CCW male threaded tip. The SF-style flash hider is a nice touch and gives the Saber a dynamic look, offering a welcome change from the usual birdcage flash hider, especially paired with the MK16 M-LOK handguard. The 14mm CCW male threaded barrel means that if you want to add a suppressor or tracer unit, you can, without the need for any additional adapters.

The handguard of the Saber® FE™ is a perfect match for the real steel SMR rail used on the MK16 URGI, offering a 20mm Picatinny rail at the 12 o'clock position as well as M-LOK slots at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, with additional slots at offset angles. The upper rail mates seamlessly with the receiver rail, allowing for optical sight setups of any length to be mounted, including red dot sight and magnifier combinations. The use of M-LOK negative space attachment slots makes the front end super light and agile, and despite its length, the Saber® FE™ can be swiftly manipulated easily, just like a...Sabre!

Close to the receiver, the handguard has what appears to be QD sling sockets on either side. In our tests, we found these sockets to be non-functional, at least with the QD swivels we had handy. If you plan to use a QD two-point sling setup with the Saber® FE™ we recommend adding an M-LOK QD socket to the handguard at a position of your choosing and using this instead of the handguard sockets.

As we come to the receiver of the Saber® FE™ we can take note of its familiar M4/AR-15 style layout, making it an easy transition in terms of training if you're already accustomed to running an AR platform in game. The charging handle is a low-profile "milspec" example, positioned at the top rear of the receiver, which can be pulled back to lock the mock bolt carrier back. To release the mock bolt carrier, hit the "ping pong paddle" style bolt release on the centre left of the receiver and enjoy the satisfying metal-on-metal clank of it closing!

When the charging handle is pulled rearwards, the dust cover on the right side will open and the mock bolt will retract and lock back, revealing the rotary HOP-up unit within. The rotary HOP-up unit is the latest design for the M4/AR-15 AEG and is known for allowing finer increments of adjustment for more precise HOP-up application, and holding its setting for longer under the vibrations of full-auto fire. This HOP-up unit is paired with a steel 6.02mm tightbore inner barrel, giving the Saber® FE™ spot-on accuracy right out of the box, with little left to improve!

The fire selector is of the standard M4/AR-15 layout, with a 3-position selector switch located above the pistol grip on the left side, offering safe, semi-auto and full auto. The selector has a 90-degree throw between each fire mode, allowing the control to be used swiftly while minimising the chances of accidentally knocking the selector out of place. Being equipped with the ARCTURUS FE MOSGET, these fire modes can be programmed with a wide variety of alternatives, from burst mode to binary trigger and more!

The pistol grip is a unique ARCTURUS design, boasting a grippy external surface, a low-profile palm rest and a more vertical angle than most grips, reducing wrist fatigue when shooting with modern techniques. The edges of this grip are bevelled to reduce hot spots, which can cause irritation over long-duration operations and the backstrap is filled out to support the web of the shooter's hand. While it is a great design, the grip can be swapped out for any M4/AR-15 AEG pistol grip, an ideal feature for the customisation addicts!

The magazine release is located on the magazine well on the right side and is well within reach of the trigger finger for right-handed users. This mag catch is right-hand optimised but can be used by lefties as well with a bit of practice. The right side of the upper receiver has the usual M4/AR-15 features, including a mock forward assist button, mock brass deflector and the dust cover which conceals the mock bolt and HOP-up adjuster.

At the rear of the receiver, we are treated to an ambidextrous sling plate which offers two sling points on the left side and one on the right. The sling plate is ideal for single-point slings, but can also be paired with a front sling mount if you prefer a two-point sling setup. Being constructed from steel allows the sling plate to take the weight of the Saber® FE™ easily, and provides confidence that the plate will never fail and dump your gorgeous rifle into the dirt.

Following the sling plate, we come to the 6-position M4/AR-15 buffer tube, which is constructed from aluminium for a great balance of strength, realism and low weight. The stock of the Saber is mounted over the buffer tube and features an rubberised cheekpiece for greater comfort, a thick rubber butt plate with aggressive gripping texture, a low profile adjustment lever to reduce snags and a QD sling socket on either side, both of which are fully functional. The stock has 6 positions of adjustment, making it suitable for any body type or loadout and includes an quick detach butt plate for easy access to the battery compartment.

The battery compartment is located inside the buffer tube, but with ARCTURUS' unique A-frame stock on board, this is easier to access than in previous versions. To get to the battery connector, simply squeeze the tabs on each side of the butt plate togther and the butt plate should come off, revealing a Deans battery connector. We recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo battery in stick configuration for an easy fit and superb performance.

On the inside, this Saber® FE™ URGI MK16 M4/AR-15 AEG has many of the premium parts from previous ARCTURUS Limited Edition releases with an 18:1 gear set at the heart of its Version 2 gearbox. The steel gears run on 8mm ball bearing bushings for reduced friction and reduced stress on the gearbox shell, and the quick change spring guide is also constructed from steel and mounted on ball bearings to prolong the life of the spring.

The pre-installed neodymium 25K High Torque motor combines perfectly with the optical MOSFET and CNC steel gearset to give you a performance that will make you smile, whilst bringing the adversaries to tears! The optical MOSFET is the star of the show, offering a wide variety of programmable options, including multiple alternative fire modes, a two-stage "progressive" trigger and trigger sensitivity adjustment, to name a few. This is an advanced MOSFET to find pre-installed in an AEG, and we love ARCTURUS for giving us such amazing internals straight out of the box.
