  • B&T's latest Sniper Rifle
  • Integral suppressor - Sneaky!
  • Compatible with VSR-10 mags

If you have been running a VSR-10 platform for years and it's getting a bit worn out, the B&T AIR SPR300 PRO Bolt Action Sniper Rifle is the perfect platform to move over to. This officially licenced replica is based on B&T's latest real steel sniper rifle, chambered in .300 Blackout and designed for engagements at intermediate range with discretion as a priority. The SPR300 PRO boasts full metal construction, with a CNC machined aluminium upper receiver, barrel and stock assembly with a lightweight yet sturdy high density polymer chassis.

Like the VSR-10 platform, this rifle is very light, nice and short and easy to move with. Unlike the VSR-10, the SPR300 PRO puts realism and performance on equal footing, ensuring this high-performance platform keeps the realistic looks we all expect from a B&T AIR officially licenced product.

Not content with unique looks, the SPR300 PRO has some interesting tricks up its sleeve, including an externally adjustable TDC HOP-up unit, compatibility with its own proprietary magazines or VSR-10 magazines and a line of upcoming accessories, including barrel extensions, a 1913 stock interface adapter and barrel spacers. If you want something a bit more "gucci" than a VSR, this would be the perfect stand in!

Full description

Description

The B&T SPR300 PRO is credited with being one of the quietest sniper rifles ever conceived in the real world, reportedly being capable of producing less than 130dB muzzle report when using subsonic ammunition. The B&T AIR version carries this over to Airsoft form, with a lengthy integral suppressor providing one of the quietest sniper rifle setups possible at its power level.

The chassis design of the SPR300 PRO boasts all the modern perks, including a lengthened 20mm Picatinny top rail with loads of space, capable of mounting a riflescope and RunCam with plenty of room to spare. We are also treated to 20mm Picatinny rails on each side for other mission essentials and M-LOK slots on each side and the bottom, offering even more accessory options and far more than rival platforms. If you are looking for VSR-10 G-Spec performance and stealth with the modularity of the M4/AR-15 platform, the SPR300 PRO is the one to go for!

Starting at the front we cannot help but find the monstrous integral suppressor which runs all the way back to the receiver. While primarily designed in to mimic the real thing, the suppressor is actually very effective, muffling the muzzle report to the point that it is barely audible from a few meters away. This is the thing which made us think of the VSR-10 G-Spec, while this isn't quite as quiet as a stock G-Spec it is shooting considerably hotter, boasting 485 FPS approximately on a 0.2g BB while the G-Spec only hits out at 300.

As the suppressor meets the receiver, we can find the first of our licenced Brügger & Thomet trademarks in the form of a B&T logo, serial number and year of manufacture. These trademarks are precisely engraved and look absolutely top-notch, matching the real thing perfectly and proudly displaying its brand pedigree for all to see. The trademarks continue on the left side of the receiver, with the same markings as the suppressor and "SPR .300BLK" in larger text following to the rear. If you put this down alongside the real thing, the only aspect that would give it away is the external TDC HOP-up adjuster!

Speaking of which, the TDC HOP-up adjuster is located on the top of the suppressor/outer barrel and is accessible from either side, protruding slightly through the extended 20mm Picatinny receiver rail. The TDC HOP-up design is widely accepted as the most effective HOP-up unit design available, applying direct pressure to the HOP-up bucking to minimise side to side shot deviation for improved accuracy and a stronger HOP-up effect. An external tool-less adjuster allows you to quickly tune the HOP-up to cope with changing conditions without bringing an Allen key into the skirmish.

The extended upper rail connects to the chassis on either side and is keyed into the receiver rail to prevent any hint of movement, giving you a long top rail to mount your optical sight with plenty of room left over for other mission essentials. Also present on either side is a shorter 20mm Picatinny side rail, perfect for PEQ or DBAL lasers or a two-piece side mounted bipod. M-LOK accessories can also be mounted on either of the two slots on the side of the chassis, and an M-LOK bipod or 20mm Picatinny adapter can be mounted on the front 6 o'clock M-LOK slot for those who prefer a single piece bipod.

The front of the chassis features steel QD sling sockets on either side, allowing for a quick detachable sling setup to be used when equipped with a QD sling swivel (not included). There are also two more QD sockets at the rear of the chassis, allowing a two-point sling setup to be used for more even weight distribution and improved stability when the rifle is slung.

On the bottom of the chassis, we can find our two (yes, two!) magazine wells. This is where things get interesting or complicated, depending on your perspective! The SPR300 PRO provides the choice of two different magazine styles; either its own proprietary 300 blackout style magazines or VSR-10 magazines. The button on the bottom of the chassis is your VSR-10 magazine release and is pre-installed with a feed ramp module which allows the more realistic 300 BLK magazine to feed through and into the HOP-up chamber.

To release the 300BLK mag you have an ambidextrous mag release on either side of the chassis, similarly positioned to that of an M4/AR-15 rifle. The alternative configuration is to remove the feed ramp module and insert a VSR-10 magazine. Please be aware, if you are using the feed ramp insert you will need to fill the 300BLK mag, insert it and then remove it and refill it to apply tension, and when you finish firing, BBs will remain inside the feed ramp. The catch on the inside of the 300BLK magazine allows you to release any retained BBs, so make sure you remember to do this when leaving the skirmish area.

The receiver of the SPR300 is constructed from CNC machined aluminium with a gorgeous matt black anodised finish applied. The bolt handle and cylinder are similarly finished, providing a discrete and stealthy look which shouldn't stand out too much in the woods. The bolt handle is enlarged similarly to an L96, providing plenty of purchase to pull back the internal spring. The trigger guard is also enlarged to allow gloved users easy access to the trigger.

The pistol grip is a B&T design with a recessed logo roundel on either side. On the front and rear of the grip, we are treated to linear texture to improve grip while maintaining comfort whether you wear gloves or use naked fingers in game. At the base of the grip there is a storage compartment which can be accessed from the rear using the recess on the bottom. This is a handy place to store a tactical snack, but could also be used for more practical purposes like storing accessory batteries. At a cursory glance, it appears that this grip may be compatible with M4/AR-15 GBBR pistol grips but we are unable to confirm that currently.

At the rear of the chassis, we come to the folding stock assembly which is primarily constructed from aluminium with steel bolts, a polymer cheek riser and rubberised butt plate. The cheek riser can be set at the perfect position to suit almost any optical sight setup by loosening the Allen bolts on either side and raising or lowering the riser. At the rear we have a rubberised butt plate which is curved to fit your shoulder perfectly, offering maximum stability and superb gripping qualities. The stock can also be folded to the side by pressing the button on the right side of the stock base, on the bottom. With the stock folded, this rifle is remarkably compact and should fit into far smaller gun bags and cases than equivalent sniper rifles.

On the inside, the SPR300 PRO is a unique design but that is not without its perks! The bolt handle is constructed from steel, as is the cylinder and the 90-degree trigger sear. The piston is constructed from CNC-machined aluminium and the spring guide is made from CNC-machined stainless steel, giving you all the most robust internal components and immunising the SPR300 PRO from the common failure points of upgraded sniper rifles. Archwick, the manufacturer, states that the SPR300 PRO can handle up to M170 springs, and seeing this internal spec, we aren't surprised!

The good stuff doesn't end here, naturally, we have a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel and TDC HOP-up unit to deliver BBs onto target with superb accuracy. While little of the internals of the SPR300 PRO are compatible with aftermarket upgrades, this rifle is at a point where it isn't really worth upgrading as it already has the best of the best straight out of the box!

So, whether you are a fan of the real steel SPR300 PRO or you are looking for a more interesting alternative to your trusty VSR-10, the B&T AIR SPR300 PRO would be a fine companion in the woods, boasting a near-silent muzzle report, high FPS, and all the upgrades necessary to keep it running in the long term!
