As you would probably expect, the Piston Head sits at the front of the Piston and is the part that actually compresses the air inside the Cylinder. It requires a good seal between the Cylinder and edge of the Piston Head as you would expect but still needs to be able to move freely. Some Piston Heads allow air in the front of them to 'inflate' the O-Ring as it travels forward which help improve compression/air seal, without constantly pressing on the side of the Cylinder. Some are mounted on bearings to assist with free movement and prevent snagging inside the Cylinder.
