If you're looking for a sizable sidearm with a stylish finish, the Cybergun Magnum Research® Desert Eagle L6 GBB Pistol; Tiger Stripe is the way to go! A seriously hefty full metal build with a flawless finish and licensed Desert Eagle trademarks, this is probably the best built Deagle replica on the market, made even better with this version's eye-catching tiger stripe finish!

Inside, this Deagle is made by Armorer Works/WE, based on the TM Desert Eagle design but reinvented in full-metal form. This means you get the mighty recoil the TM version is known for, paired with the cold, realistic feel of metal in the hands. All internal parts other than the HOP-up unit are TM compatible, though the HOP-up does accept GBB/VSR-type inner barrels and HOP-up buckings. Its fixed outer barrel should give the Desert Eagle the edge in accuracy compared to conventional GBB pistols, very fitting for a pistol originally designed for competition shooting!

Starting at the tip of the barrel, we can find realistic mock rifling grooves moulded into the muzzle, providing an often missed touch of detail on Airsoft GBB pistols. The inner barrel of the Desert Eagle is slightly inset, giving the pistol its intimidatingly large bore, despite being chambered in tiny 6mm BBs! This gives the Desert Eagle the edge in realism and makes it a fantastic prop for movie-making or photo shoots. You really do have to look straight down the barrel to see any hint of an Airsoft inner barrel, and we do not recommend doing that without your eye-pro on!

This Desert Eagle is a split slide design, with only the rear of the slide reciprocating, just like the real thing. This provides an edge in gas efficiency, but given how large the rear slide is, it still provides that ultra-immersive recoil any Desert Eagle fan will love! The added perk to the split side design is that the front sight blade remains stationary, allowing a speedy shooter to already be indexing their front sight on the next target before the slide even returns. This works well with the extremely long sight base of the Desert Eagle and allows this real-world target pistol to provide the impressive accuracy it is known for in its Airsoft iteration.

The top of the outer barrel features a 20mm Picatinny rail, replacing the old-school Desert Eagle's proprietary mounting rail in this modernised "L6" version. While it was originally intended for long eye relief pistol scopes, this rail can be used to add a red dot sight for faster target acquisition. On the bottom of the L6 frame, we have another 20mm Picatinny rail, ideal for a flashlight, laser aiming module, or bipod if you can't handle the heft of this full metal replica!

On the left side of the outer barrel, we are treated to a precisely engraved ".50AE" marking, a realistic reminder that this pistol is a BIG BOI, tying in perfectly with the other licensed markings. Just above, we can take note of the L6-style compensator cuts, added to the real Desert Eagle L6 to help keep its mighty recoil and muzzle flip under control.

Moving rearwards, we arrive at the slide of the Desert Eagle, which features deep linear serrations on either side to ensure you have a good grip on the slide for when you need to cock the pistol. This is essential for a GBB pistol, as while you may not have to cock the slide with every shot, you will still need to pull the slide back if loading the pistol from a closed slide. The serrations are flawlessly machined and deep enough to provide excellent traction, even in wet weather or when wearing gloves.

Either side of the slide features more licensed Magnum Research trademarks, with the left side reading "DESERT EAGLE PISTOL - MAGNUM RESEARCH INC. PILLAGER MN USA" and the right side reading "MAGNUM RESEARCH INC. - MPLS MN USA", adding to the realistic look of this mighty pistol. Like the slide serrations, the machining of these engraved markings is on point, with not a flaw to be seen and a perfect match for the real Desert Eagle L6.

The safety catch of the Desert Eagle can be found on either side of the slide, allowing access for both left and right-handed users to this essential control with ease. When ready to fire, a red enamel dot below the safety catch provides a helpful indication that you are holding a hot pistol. In "safe" mode, the catch will sit at its lowermost position, concealing the red enamel dot beneath. Each safety catch features deep serrations to promote a perfect grip and ensure the safety can be used easily when wearing gloves or in poor weather conditions.

The rear sight lives at the rear of the slide and is a simple flat open sight ideally suited to target shooting. Raising the Desert Eagle and aligning the sights is evidence enough that this pistol is intended for accuracy; the sights align perfectly with absolute ease, and the large front post drops nicely into the rear sight notch with no effort at all and no need to "search" to find your front sight.

The frame of the Desert Eagle is constructed from the same smoothly finished alloy as the slide and outer barrel, and fits perfectly to the slide with minimum wobble, providing a smooth slide-frame interface for flawless cycling. The frame features crackle-textured grip panels that cover the sides of the grip and the backstrap, helping keep the pistol firmly in the hands of the user despite the intense recoil. Each side of the grips features the classic Magnum Research eagle roundel logo moulded in on either side, adding to the distinct Desert Eagle look with its iconic logo. The controls all lie well within reach when the pistol is held in a firing grip, with the slide release featuring aggressive texturing to ensure you can operate it regardless of any poor weather conditions.

The HOP-up adjuster is one area this Desert Eagle replica deviates from the TM design, a necessary change thanks to its full metal build. The adjuster now takes the form of a grub screw just above the chamber, accessible with the slide locked open. The adjustable HOP-up allows you to tune the amount of backspin applied to your BBs to set the Desert Eagle up for different ammo weights, seeking the flattest possible trajectory.

The magazine release takes the form of a small metal button on the left side of the pistol grip and can be reached relatively easily while being less vulnerable to accidental mag drops than pistols with extended magazine releases. The slide lock/release catch is located just above the grip on the left side, an extended design with a deeply serrated surface which is easy to reach, even for those without shovel hands. The controls on the Desert Eagle are finished well with a hard-wearing coating, which should maintain their looks in the long term.

The hammer can be found at the rear of the frame and reciprocates with each shot, and can also be manually actuated for those cool movie standoff moments. At the rearmost point in the frame, we can see an extension, known as a "beaver tail", which helps keep the pistol correctly positioned in the shooter's hand and prevents the hammer from "biting" the web of your hand during firing. With the hammer cocked, you'll see a detailed mock firing pin underneath, yet another stand-out feature which gives this Desert Eagle the realism edge!

This iteration of the Cybergun Desert Eagle is, in our opinion, the best yet! Its classic looks make it instantly recognisable and its modernised L6 exterior makes it a more practical skirmish option than ever before. Its full metal build gives it the edge over more affordable Deagles, giving you the cold, powerful feel a proper Desert Eagle replica deserves to do the real thing justice.

In terms of firing experience, you will struggle to find a GBB pistol which is more fun to shoot than this. The recoil is strong and immersive, with a totally different feel to a comparably puny EU series or Hi-Capa GBB. The Deagle really throws you around and lets you know it's the main character, an experience you simply won't get with other GBB pistols. If you are short of a Desert Eagle, an essential part of any Airsoft collection, you can't do much better than this one!
