  • Powerful CO2 gas blowback with open bolt operation
  • Iconic folding stock and authentic stamped construction

The Cybergun MP40 CO2 GBB Submachine Gun brings one of the most recognisable firearms of the Second World War to the Airsoft battlefield. Often incorrectly referred to as the Schmeisser, the MP40 is a symbol of the German soldier of WW2 and remains one of the most distinctive submachine guns ever produced. Whether you are building a Wehrmacht reenactment kit, a resistance fighter loadout or a modern OPFOR impression, the MP40 fits the role perfectly.

Used historically by German forces and later adopted by resistance movements, allied units and modern irregular fighters, the MP40 has earned a reputation as a battlefield pickup platform that transcends eras. If you are looking for something different from the usual M4s and AKs, the MP40 offers vintage styling, immersive handling and serious presence on the field.

Full description

Description

The real MP40 was developed from the earlier MP38 as a cost-effective and simplified design, utilising stamped steel construction to allow rapid mass production. By the end of the Second World War, over one million MP40s had been produced, cementing its place in firearms history. Cybergun’s CO2-powered Gas Blowback replica faithfully recreates this iconic platform, both visually and mechanically.

Constructed from a combination of steel, aluminium and polymer, the MP40 delivers a realistically heavy and solid feel in the hands. The receiver accurately replicates the real stamped steel construction, including the separate magazine well wrapped over the top of the receiver and the distinctive grooves along the upper body. Steel is used extensively throughout the replica, including the magazine housing, upper barrel components and stock base, enhancing both realism and durability.

The lower receiver and pistol grip are constructed from polymer to replicate the bakelite furniture found on original MP40s. The grip features linear texturing on the sides and front, providing a comfortable and secure hold even in wet or muddy conditions. For those seeking maximum authenticity, the bakelite-style colouration captures the early war appearance of the MP40 perfectly.

At the front, the MP40 features its iconic square front sight protected by a steel hood to prevent damage during drops or rough handling. This pairs with the rear notch sight, which offers two selectable apertures for different engagement distances. Positioned midway along the receiver, the rear sight provides a long sight radius, aiding accuracy despite the platform’s compact size.

The under-folding stock is constructed from alloy and pivots beneath the receiver when folded, significantly reducing the overall length for CQB or transport. When deployed, it provides a stable shoulder point or an additional gripping surface, staying true to the original MP40 design.

Internally, this MP40 operates using a powerful CO2 gas blowback system powered by two CO2 capsules housed within the magazine. The open bolt firing system delivers a strong and satisfying recoil impulse, with the bolt cycling visibly during firing for maximum realism. The magazine itself is constructed from stamped steel, features deep-engraved historical markings and holds 30 BBs for realistic capacity.

Two independent safety systems are present. One safety is integrated into the cocking handle, preventing the replica from being cocked or fired accidentally, while a secondary mechanical safety is located beneath the receiver near the trigger guard. The replica fires in full automatic only, just like the real MP40.

An adjustable hop-up system allows you to fine-tune BB flight for improved range and consistency, making the MP40 practical for skirmishing as well as reenactment and display. Sling mounting points are present at the front and rear of the receiver, allowing the use of traditional MP40 slings.

With its authentic markings, realistic recoil and unmistakable silhouette, the Cybergun MP40 CO2 GBB is not just an Airsoft gun but a living piece of history. Whether you are a reenactor, history enthusiast or simply want a unique and immersive primary platform, this MP40 delivers old school firepower in a way few replicas can.
