If you're interested in rare GBB pistols, the Cybergun Swiss Arms MLE 2022 GBB Pistol will raise an eyebrow! Inspired by the real steel SP2022/Sig Pro, the follow-on from the legendary Sig P226, the MLE 2022 keeps the double-action/single-action trigger design and decocking lever of the 226 series but adds a 20mm railed polymer frame to reduce weight and an ergonomic grip profile to improve shooter comfort.

An interesting hybrid of 1990s pistol design considerations with modern build materials, the real steel SP2022 has been used by the French Police and internal security agencies, the Essex Armed Police and even the US Army, which purchased 5000 units in 2018 to supplement existing service pistols. If you're all about lesser-seen sidearm designs or you collect GBB pistols, the Cybergun Swiss Arms MLE 2022 GBB Pistol is the unique piece you need!

Description

If you're after a sidearm no one else has, the Cybergun Swiss Arms MLE 2022 GBB Pistol should be in your sights! A rare replica inspired by the real steel Sig Pro/SP2022, the MLE 2022 is a solid full metal build with a high-density polymer frame, reducing weight compared to its older sibling, the P226, while allowing modern flashlights and lasers to be fitted.

Inside, the MLE 2022 is a unique design, making use of a TM-compatible HOP-up bucking and inner barrel, ideal for those who love upgrading and tuning. The double-action/single-action trigger mech makes this a radical departure from common Hi-Capas and Glocks, while allowing for 1990s-style pistol handling thanks to its functional decocking lever. Whether you collect GBB pistols or are seeking an uncommon but utterly cool sidearm, the Cybergun Swiss Arms MLE 2022 GBB Pistol is a slick choice!

Starting at the front, we can find 11mm CW female threading inside the alloy outer barrel, allowing you to mount a tracer unit or suppressor using an 11mm CW female to 14mm CCW male thread adapter. If you're planning to run a tracer, we recommend the Eshooter FLARE M, as it includes the correct adapter in the box.

The slide of the MLE 2022 features a bevelled front, allowing it to be more easily reholstered when working under pressure. The sights are on the top, a simple set of fixed combat sights with a white front sight dot and a blacked-out rear notch with a white line for fast indexing. Engraved Swiss Arms trademarks are present on the left side, adding a touch of realism to this means-business sidearm.

At the rear of the slide, we have serrations to enhance handling, a similar design to that of the P226. The serrations allow you to easily rack the slide in wet weather conditions, with or without gloves. On top, we can find the mock extractor, made as a separate piece to improve realism, avoiding the telltale moulded in extractors found on many low-quality replicas. On the left side, the chamber features "9mm Para" markings to complete the realistic aesthetic.

Moving down to the frame, we can find a 20mm Picatinny rail at the front, ready for a tactical flashlight or laser aiming module. Following the rail, we reach the trigger guard, an enlarged design with a recurved front face. Being enlarged, the trigger guard allows plenty of space for full-finger gloves, and its recurved front face provides a useful index point for the support hand so you can control muzzle rise during rapid fire.

The slide lock/release lever is a significantly extended design, bringing the actuation surface right back to sit comfortably beneath the shooter's thumb when held in a firing grip. This is a big improvement over the legacy P226, especially for those with shorter thumbs. Below the slide lock/release, we can find the decocking lever. This allows you to drop the hammer safely and revert the MLE 2022 to "double-action" trigger mode. Please note, the decocker does NOT render the pistol safe, and you'll still need to remove the magazine and clear the HOP-up chamber of BBs before storing it.

The trigger itself is a curved design, similar to the P226, but with comfortable, rounded edges to reduce finger fatigue when shooting rapidly. The trigger action is a little different from common Glock and Hi-Capa builds, working similarly to double-action revolvers, a feature considered essential in 1990s/early 2000s era pistol doctrine and present in all the 1990s old-school-cool pistols, from the P226 to the USP and Beretta M9.

The double-action/single-action trigger design and decocker allow you to carry the MLE 2022 with the hammer down and a BB in the chamber, meaning you can simply pull the trigger straight from the draw and avoid messing around with safety catches. If you need a shorter, lighter trigger pull on the first shot, simply cock the hammer manually before shooting to reduce trigger travel. Following the first shot, the trigger will default to single action, giving you a light trigger ideal for rapid fire.

To set the MLE 2022 up for "condition 2" carry (bb chambered, hammer down), insert the magazine, rack the slide, then push down on the decocking lever. This means you can shoot straight away, without needing to rack the slide or release a safety catch. You can also carry the MLE 2022 in "condition 0" (BB chambered, hammer back), but we recommend caution, as the pistol lacks a manual safety and the trigger is very light and sensitive when the hammer is cocked.

The magazine release is on the left side of the grip, a triangular push button with a textured surface to improve wet-weather handling. The mag release design allows you to either press it or sweep upwards or downwards to drop the mag, handy for those who use multiple different pistols with different mag release designs.

In terms of grip design, the MLE 2022 has a similar angle to the P226, but unlike the 226, this grip features a wrap-around grip design for maximum comfort, avoiding the usual hot spots caused where grip panels meet the frame, which can irritate over time. At the base of the grip, we have a lanyard loop, allowing you to tether your pistol to your belt using a retention lanyard or paracord. This is a great feature for woodland warfare, as there is nothing worse than losing a sidearm in the leaf litter!

The adjustable HOP-up of the MLE 2022 is located on the right side of the outer barrel, accessible with the slide removed. To do this, remove the magazine, then rack the slide. With the hammer cocked, pull the slide back so the axis of the slide lock lever aligns with the squared cutout on the left side of the slide and push it through from the right side. With the slide lock/release removed, you can push the slide forward and off the frame.

The grub key HOP-up adjuster is on the right side of the outer barrel, requiring a small Allen key to apply adjustments. While the HOP-up unit design is unique, the inner barrel and HOP-up bucking are both TM VSR/GBB spec, meaning plenty of aftermarket upgrade options are available.

If a lesser-seen sidearm will be your next buy, the Cybergun Swiss Arms MLE 2022 GBB Pistol is a solid choice. A piece from the transitional era between DA/SA pistols and modern striker-fired designs, the MLE 2022 pairs old-school functionality with modern ergonomic luxury!
