Description
If you like a hard-recoiling classic with spicy race gun-style looks, the Cybergun Tanfoglio Limited Custom CO2 GBB Cybergun/KWC is the mighty sidearm you seek! A full metal build with licensed trademarks from real steel race gun experts, Tanfoglio, the Limited Custom is the base pistol for a specifically designed real steel variant used by 5-time IPSC World Champion Eric Graufell, which included this pistol with a 4-port compensator, 20mm Weaver optics rail, extended charging handle and flared magazine well. Otherwise known as the Tanfoglio Gold Custom!
Being a CO2-powered GBB pistol, the Limited Custom is a real beast in the recoil and muzzle noise department, emitting a loud crack with each trigger pull, with a smooth but fast cycle. This also means it will still do its job in cold weather and won't suffer as much from the "cooldown" effect when fired rapidly. If you need a winter-ready sidearm with a hotrod-style look or an affordable way to get into Airsoft competition shooting, the Cybergun Tanfoglio Limited Custom CO2 GBB Cybergun/KWC is a fine choice!
Starting at the front, we find an unthreaded outer barrel. Behind that, we come to the slide, which boasts front and rear serrations for optimal handling qualities. The slide itself is far smaller and lighter than the average thanks to the Tanfoglio's CZ75-derived design, a great feature for a pistol designed to go fast!
On the left side of the pistol, on the frame, we can find the Tanfoglio logo discreetly engraved between the optic mount screw holes and slide lock/release. Realistic trademarks add a lot to the external build, an elite touch which marks the Limited Custom out as a top-notch replica, as useful for display as it is on game day!
The right side of the slide is where we can find the mock ejection port and chamber, complete with a mock extractor moulded into the slide, behind the chamber. On the barrel/chamber itself, we have an engraved "6mm cal" marking, intended to distinguish this Airsoft Tanfoglio from its 4.5mm air pistol relatives. Behind the chamber, we can see the cylindrical charging handle protruding to the right side, complete with texture around its circumference for optimal gripping qualities.
At the rear of the frame, we can find the skeletonised hammer, a weight-reduced design which looks fantastic with the other race gun-inspired features of the Limited Custom. The hammer includes linear serrations on its surface to allow manual cocking when necessary, whether it needs to be reset due to a "light strike" or for a movie-style standoff moment!
Moving down to the frame, we can take note of the squared trigger guard profile, designed to allow a finger to be wrapped around the front to keep the muzzle under control during rapid strings of fire. This technique is known as the "European grip", a common method used by competition shooters, especially during the heyday of the Limited Custom.
The trigger itself is a single-action design, just like the 1911 and Hi-Capa pistols, offering a short and light trigger pull with practically no take-up. The single-action trigger is one of the changes made to the original CZ75 design by Tanfoglio to optimise the build for competitive shooting. The manual safety catch is ambidextrous, located on either side, ideal for left or right-handed shooters. Each safety catch is enlarged and functions as a thumb rest for improved recoil control and to encourage a consistent grip, which translates to accuracy downrange.
On the left side of the frame, we can find the slide lock/release catch, complete with machined-in serrations so you never slip off this essential control during wet weather. Unlike some other Tanfoglio variants, the Limited Custom still has a functional slide lock, which locks the slide to the rear when your magazine runs dry. Below the slide release, on the left side of the trigger guard, we arrive at the extended magazine release.
The grip itself is designed for pure comfort and speed, equipped with diamond checkering machined into the frame at the front and rear, along with CNC aluminium grip panels with crackle textured inserts to enhance handling. At the base of the grip, we are treated to a flared magazine well extension, designed to help guide your magazines in during a mid-firefight or mid-stage reload. Flared magwells are a staple of pistols designed for competitive shooting, but are equally useful on combat pistols, helping you keep your eyes up during the reload process to stay aware of the ever-changing tactical environment.
The adjustable HOP-up of the Tanfoglio Limited Custom is located on the underside of the outer barrel, accessible when the pistol is field stripped. To field strip the pistol, first, remove the magazine. Next, rack the slide so the hammer is cocked. With this done, pull the slide back slightly until the two recessed dots on the left side of the slide and frame are aligned. With the slide held in this position, push the slide lock/release catch through the frame from the right side, after which the slide assembly can be pushed forward and off the pistol.
The HOP-up dial is located on the bottom of the barrel, allowing you to tune the amount of backspin applied to your BBs and set the Limited Custom up for different ammo weights, seeking the flattest possible trajectory. This HOP-up type is KWC/Cybergun's BAX system, so it is unfortunately not compatible with TM-spec aftermarket upgrade parts.
If you love a classic design and appreciate aggressive race gun aesthetics, the Cybergun Tanfoglio Limited Custom CO2 GBB Cybergun/KWC should be on your shopping list. With looks to turn heads and a violent recoil with an epic firing report and cyclic rate, the Tanfoglio Limited Custom will definitely get you noticed on the field!
