CYMA CM.009A1 M16A1 AEG Assault Rifle

If you're on a tight budget seeking the unashamedly bad *beep* full-length M16 look, the CYMA CM.009A1 M16A1 AEG Assault Rifle is a fantastic option. This full metal build is somewhat of a hybrid of M16A1 and M16A2 features, combining the A2 heavy profile barrel with the iconic A1 triangular handguard and fixed carry handle/rear sight.

While it may be getting long in the tooth, the lightweight, utilitarian design of the M16A1 makes it a fantastic platform for anyone looking for a long-range primary which is still easy to move with and doesn't become burdensome to carry over long-duration ops. As with other old-school military-style builds, the M16A1 has plenty of built-in perks that more modern platforms usually leave out, including built-in sling points and a bayonet lug for your dummy rubber bayonet!

Starting at the front, we have an alloy birdcage flash hider mounted to 14mm CCW male barrel threads. The birdcage is ideal for the military standard issue look, though if you want to add a tracer unit or suppressor, you can, thanks to the common 14mm CCW male barrel threading.

Following the 20-inch heavy profile outer barrel rearwards, we come to the front sight/gas block assembly, which includes the front sight post, bayonet lug and front sling point. The front sling point can be paired with the rear sling point on the bottom of the stock to mount a two-point sling, making carrying the rifle easier, especially when used with a sidearm. 

The front sight post itself is adjustable for elevation for a perfect zero, with windage adjustments being applied on the rear sight. The bayonet lug is compatible with rubber dummy bayonets, so if you want a proper Airsoft melee experience, this is the gun for the job!

Behind the front sight, we come to the handguard, which is the iconic triangular M16A1 handguard, completing the old-school look. These handguards are remarkably comfortable, with a gentle taper from the front to the rear, giving you plenty of options when it comes to where and how you hold the rifle. Visible through the ports on the top of the handguard, we can see a realistic dummy gas tube which runs from the front sight all the way back to the receiver, just like the real thing.

Following the handguards, we arrive at the receiver, made from alloy with engraved "BAMF" markings. The finish is a gun metal grey paint, matching the real rifle perfectly. The lower receiver is an A2 type with a reinforced front receiver pinhole and a full magazine release fence machined in, avoiding accidental mag drops as the M16A1 

The fire selector is on the left side and lies comfortably beneath the thumb when taking a firing grip. The markings "SAFE- SEMI-AUTO" appear on both sides of the receiver and are machined in, pairing well with the period-accurate nature of the CM.009A1. The magazine release can be found on the right side of the receiver, protected from accidental magazine drops by the "magazine catch fence", which is machined as part of the lower receiver, preventing your mag from falling out if your rifle rubs against your gear as you move.

The upper receiver is an A1 type, featuring a fixed A1 carry handle with A1 aperture sights on the top and a "teardrop" forward assist but no brass deflector on the right side, as should be expected for a realistic M16A1 replica. The charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver, and when pulled, locks the mock bolt to the rear, giving you access to the gear adjustable HOP-up inside the ejection port. The HOP-up unit allows you to tune the CM.009A1 for your choice of ammo weight, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. When you have completed your adjustment, the mock bolt can then be released using the "ping pong paddle" bolt release, found on the left side of the receiver. A nice touch adding to the realism of this already super-realistic AEG!

The pistol grip of the CM.009A1 is an A1 type, with checkering on both sides to provide a grippy surface without the finger groove found on A2 grips, which some find less comfortable. The grip has a heat sink motor base plate, allowing the AEG's motor to cool between extended strings of fire.

Bringing up the rear, we have an M16A1 fixed stock with a sling point mounted on the bottom, ideally paired with the front sling point and a two-point rifle sling. The stock is constructed from high-density polymer and features a quick-access battery compartment and a textured butt plate for enhanced grip. 

To access the battery compartment, simply pull the sliding catch at the top of the hatch downwards, after which the hatch can be opened, revealing a mini-Tamiya battery connector inside. We recommend a 7.4V 2800mAh LiPo battery to take full advantage of the impressive battery compartment space.
