If you're new to the sport, seeking the iconic AK-47 look, the CYMA Sport Gen.2 CM.522 AK-47 Classic AEG should be in your sights! A lightweight high-density polymer build with a steel outer barrel for realistic weight distribution, this is CYMA's Gen.2 CM.522, based on proven internals with the CYMA V3 MOSFET added to its reliable metal Version 3 gearbox setup.
Externally, this build is a perfect match for the original Avtomat Kalashnikova, aka, the AK-47 Type 3. Its detailed faux wood handguard, pistol grip and stock give it the classic AK look while being practically immune to damage and maintenance-free compared to real wood parts.
Inside, this Gen.2 build features a quick-change spring system for easy power tuning, a 6.05mm tightbore inner barrel to enhance accuracy and the CYMA V3 MOSFET to prevent trigger lockups and provide a rapid trigger response. This set even comes with two 525-round high-cap mags, getting you off the mark with ample capacity for full day games. A solid beginner build, made even better in its Gen.2 form!

Description
Quick Start Guide
- Charge your Battery: We recommend a 7.4V 1500mAh LiPo battery and a LiPo Balance Charger for this product. Place your battery inside your Battery Safe Charging Bag. Next, plug your charger into a 3-Plug UK wall socket and connect the Balance connector(small white plug) of your battery to the one on your battery. Your charger will cut off when your battery reaches capacity, but you should never leave it on charge unattended. Please note, this package does NOT include a battery or charger.
- Load your magazine: Open the feed hatch on the top of your High-cap magazine. Pour BBs in until full.
- Wind your magazine: Wind the wheel on the bottom of your magazine 5-10 times or until the noise changes and the wheel becomes firm.
- Put on your Eye Protection: Safety when using Airsoft guns should be your number 1 priority. Always wear eye protection before loading your AEG and ensure any spectators are also protected.
- Connect your battery: Remove the butt plate from your stock by pushing the butt plate down, then lifting it free. Inside, you'll find the Deans connector. Position your battery inside the stock, then connect the Deans connectors. With your wiring neatly tucked in, replace the butt plate.
- Insert your magazine: With the fire selector switch set to "SAFE" and the barrel pointed in a safe direction with your finger off the trigger, insert your magazine by indexing the front of the magazine first, then rocking the rear up to lock. See our Video: How to Load an AK if you're struggling.
- You're now ready to shoot! - Never shoot at animals or humans who aren't in an Airsoft skirmish
About the CYMA Sport Gen.2 CM.522 AK-47 Classic AEG
This build is designed for players who love the classic AK aesthetic but like to move fast on the field. At the front, we have a fixed front sight post made from polymer, mounted to the steel outer barrel. Having a steel barrel keeps weight distribution realistic without being overburdening, perfect for those who like to move fast but experience realistic handling.
Below the front sight, we have a mock cleaning rod, an important part of the iconic AK-47 silhouette. Above the cleaning rod, the barrel features realistic ribs, perfectly matching the real AK-47.
Moving back, we can find the mock gas tube and gas block, both perfectly replicating the shape of the real AK-47 Type 3. On the left side of the gas block, we are equipped with a steel sling loop, which can be paired with the sling loop on the stock to mount a two-point sling. Its steel construction ensures the loop will never fail, no matter how rough you are with it!
Next up, we reach the faux wood handguards, perfectly matching the real AK-47 in shape and layout, complete with 2 cooling ports on each side. The faux wood effect looks great, even up close. Its varied wood grain effect completes the iconic AK look, and being made from polymer means it will still look great in the long term.
Behind the upper handguard, we have what is known as the "trunnion block". This is where the rear iron sight mounts, and in the real steel, this is where the barrel connects to the receiver.
The rear sight is known as a "tangent" sight, and can be adjusted to suit different engagement ranges by holding the drum on the left side down, and sliding the drum back and forth to raise and lower the rear notch. This sight style is fantastic for Airsoft, as its open-notch design means you can track moving targets with ease.
The receiver is made from high-density polymer, perfectly matching the shape and design of the original AK-47 Type 3 rifle. The charging handle is on the right side, affixed to a polymer mock bolt carrier. This can be pulled back for a satisfying "clack", but if you pull it back and hold it in place, you can access the Slider adjustable HOP-up.
The adjustable HOP-up lets you vary the amount of backspin applied to your BBs to extend range and allow for heavier ammo to be used. To increase the HOP-up effect, simply move the slider rearwards. Returning the slider to the front will reduce the HOP-up to its lowest setting. We recommend 0.25g BBs, as they are great for both indoor and outdoor gameplay.
On the right side, we can find the fire selector switch, which doubles as a dust cover when in the uppermost "safe" position. The fire mode positions are laid out in the same way as the real steel AK-47: with safe at the top, fully automatic in the middle and semi-automatic at the bottom.
The fire selector is made from steel for added strength on this often-used component. The fire selector markings are moulded into the receiver, with authentic Russian Cyrillic letters denoting each mode.
On the bottom of the receiver, we come to the trigger guard/magazine release assembly, offering a centrally positioned mag catch which is easy to access from either side. This means you can easily reload whether you're left or right-handed, with no special tricks needed.
The magazine insertion method for the AK is the "rock and lock" method, meaning you'll need to index the hook on the front of the mag in the receiver, then rock the rear back to meet the magazine catch and lock into place. If you're struggling, check out our PBTV Video: How to Load an Airsoft AK.
Behind the trigger guard, we can find the pistol grip of the AK-47, made from high-density polymer with the same fantastic imitation wood finish as the handguards and stock. This is a perfect match for the real AK-47 Type 3 build, as this was one of the few AK variants issued with a wood pistol grip.
Above the receiver, we have what is known as the "receiver top cover". This part covers the action of the real AK and prevents dirt and debris ingress, and the smooth design of the top cover is a perfect match for the real AK-47 Type 3.
At the rear, we have a fixed stock made from polymer with a fantastic faux wood effect. On the left side of the stock, we are equipped with a steel sling point, ready for a two-point sling when paired with the front sling point on the left side of the handguard.

FAQ
Q: What Ammo/BBs do I need?
A: You'll need 6mm plastic Airsoft BBs between 0.20g and 0.28g in weight. We recommend using 0.25g BBs, as they are perfect for a mix of indoor and outdoor gameplay. Never attempt to shoot any form of metal ammo or "paint" ammo, as these are not designed for Airsoft AEGs and will cause internal damage.
Q: What battery do I need?
A: You'll need either a 7.4V LiPo battery or a 9.6V NiMh battery with a Deans battery connector. We recommend a 7.4V 1500mAh LiPo in Flat Nunchuck configuration for an easy fit and great performance.
Q: How old do I need to be to buy and use an Airsoft gun?
A: Airsoft guns can be legally purchased by anyone over 18, but can be used by anyone of any age. We recommend adult supervision for users under 14 years old, at the parents' discretion. Most skirmish sites have a minimum age of 14 or over for attendees, some of which require under-18s to attend with an adult.
Q: Can I buy this for someone else?
A: Yes, provided you are over 18 and either have a Specific Defence under the VCRA, or choose a "Two-tone" colour variant.
Q: Do I need a UKARA or a License?
A: Not necessarily. You’ll need a UKARA membership or other valid defence under the VCRA to buy realistic colours (Black, Tan, etc.). Two-tone options can be purchased without UKARA. There’s no license required to own or buy Airsoft guns.
Q: Does it hurt to get shot with this?
A: It can sting, similar to a rubber band snap on bare skin, but less than a paintball. The sensation depends on distance, clothing, and protective gear. Airsoft guns produce muzzle energy around 1/14th of the average Paintball Marker, so hits hurt far less than hits from paintballs.
Q: Is an Airsoft gun dangerous?
A: Only if misused. Airsoft guns must never be brandished in public or in an area visible from public land. When transporting an Airsoft gun, ensure it is unloaded and concealed in a gun bag or case. When shooting, both the shooter and any spectators must use eye protection. It is also important that you don't shoot at targets beyond your property boundary. Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
