EMG Noveske N4 Gen.4 "Pistol" M4/AR-15 AEG

The All-American Badass Rifle Company is instantly recognisable in the real steel world, and this reputation is rapidly coming to the Airsoft world. The EMG Noveske N4 Gen.4 "Pistol" M4/AR-15 AEG is yet another fully licensed and trademarked Noveske rifle brought to us by EMG (Evike Manufacturing Group).

This time, EMG has teamed up with APS to create this platform. That means it comes with the eSilver Gearbox. This reinforced gearbox has a full steel gear set as well as steel teeth on the piston, as well as a CNC-machined nozzle. Also included is the SDU 2.0 MOSFET, which protects this rifle from electrical faults and provides programmable burst modes, giving you some different ways to play on the skirmishfield.

Starting at the front of this rifle, we find the three-prong flash hider. This has clearly been inspired by the real steel Dead Air Keymo and provides a very aggressive front end. If you prefer something else, underneath the stock flash hider is 14mm CCW threading, allowing you to mount a large variety of suppressors, tracer units or alternative flash hiders.

Behind that, there is a short handguard which is styled after the current Noveske N4 4th Generation handguard, equipped with M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions with a 20mm Picatinny rail along the top. Just under the top rail are cutouts, reducing overall weight and adding to the gripping qualities of the handguard when run slick without rail covers. Being an EMG-licensed replica, the handguard sports the correct Noveske trademarks.

 As we reach the receiver, we can take note of the familiar and well-placed M4/AR-15 controls, though the receiver itself is a little different to the standard AR. The upper receiver is patterned after the Noveske Gen.4 upper receiver, matching the real thing perfectly with all the correct angles and shapes, a prominent "NOVESKE" engraving on the left side, a Noveske logo on the forward assist, and a reprofiled mock forward assist and brass deflector bulge, intended to reduce snagging potential. 

The lower receiver is of a standard M4/AR-15 receiver spec, but with Noveske trimmings and markings on the magazine well, body pins, and just aft of the mock bolt catch. Just below the Noveske trademarks on the magwell, you will find your unique serial number laser-engraved.

The fire selector switch is right where we would expect it: on the left side of the receiver, just above the pistol grip. Offering 3 modes of fire with a 90-degree throw between each, the selector is one of the highlights of the AR platform; secure enough to avoid inadvertent mode changes but fast enough to play "sights off, safety off". The available firemodes are SAFE, SEMI and AUTO, marked with engravings in classic M4/AR-15 style. 

The magazine release catch can be found on the right side of the magazine well, lying well within reach of the trigger finger for super slick and easy fast reloads. The mag release is a push-button design and can be replaced with an aftermarket ambidextrous magazine release if required. On the left side of the receiver, we can find the mock bolt catch, taking the form of the classic M4/AR-15 "ping pong paddle".

At the top rear of the receiver, we can find the ambidextrous charging handle, allowing left or right-handed shooters easy and fast access to the HOP-up unit for quick mid-game adjustments. With the charging handle pulled, the mock bolt carrier will retract, and the dust cover will spring open, revealing the alloy rotary HOP-up unit inside the ejection port.

The HOP-up allows you to tune the N4 Gen.4 "Pistol" for different ammo weights and extend your range, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. Being constructed from alloy means this unit will never break, and being the latest rotary design guarantees a wide range of adjustments and greater ability to hold its setting under the vibrations of full auto fire.

The trigger guard is enlarged to allow for full-fingered glove use and boasts a Noveske logo on the bottom, bringing it into line with the rest of the N4 Shorty. To match the real thing, an ergonomic Noveske grip is fitted with a refined grip angle intended to reduce wrist fatigue when shooting with the stock fully collapsed. The grip has a filled-out back strap and linear texture on the front and rear, giving ample grip for wet-weather operations and a super comfy grip you will never need to change. There is even a Noveske logo on the baseplate, in case you forgot who is behind this gorgeous design! 

Bringing up the rear, we have the good old M4/AR-15 buffer tube, which allows for 6 positions of adjustment, so you can set the stock in the perfect place to suit your body type and loadout. The RS3 stock is styled after the iconic MOE stock. It offers comfort and lightness. Accessing the battery compartment is easy; all you need to do is take the stock off, which will reveal the battery compartment and the Deans/T-plug battery connector within.

The well-regarded eSilver Gearbox has been installed inside, offering a microswitch trigger, a quick-change spring system with a strengthened spring guide design with built-in bearings, 8mm bushings and a bearing-equipped piston head to guarantee smooth cycling and minimal stress transferred to the internal parts. The microswitch trigger works together with the SDU 2.0 MOSFET to provide an impressive trigger response, to the extent that you can hammer the trigger and almost reach full auto-like speeds!

The internal surfaces of the gearbox have been polished and buffed, saving you a job if you ever decide to push the N4 Gen.4 "Pistol" even further with internal upgrades, which is entirely possible thanks to the gearbox's Tokyo Marui compatibility. The SDU 2.0 also allows for programmable fire modes, meaning you can set this AEG up for bursts of varying duration by swapping a "burst" mode for either semi-auto or full-auto.
