Description

If you love realism and recoil in equal measure, the EMG Strike Industries Oppressor M4/AR-15 GBBR should be a part of your arsenal! A stunning full metal build bristling with licensed Strike Industries-style parts and flawless engraved receiver markings, this beast of a build ticks all the boxes on the outside, and internally, things get even better!

Internally, the Oppressor is based around Tokyo Marui's much-lauded ZET system, widely regarded as the best GBBR internal system around. The CGS (CYMA Gas System) has made it even better, throwing in a generous complement of robust steel parts, including the bolt carrier, trigger group and bolt catch. This means a longer lifespan than rival GBBRs and seriously intense recoil, with the added bonus that you won't ever have to buy steel parts on the aftermarket to keep this beast doing what it does best!

Starting at the front, we can find an EMG replica of the Strike Industries Oppressor Blast Shield, designed in real steel to reduce concussion while providing muzzle-brake-like recoil reduction. This aluminium muzzle device gives the front end an extremely aggressive style, typical of a Strike build, while providing a booming muzzle report with each shot.

The Oppressor device mounts to 14mm CCW male threads at the tip of the "Strike Fighter" fluted outer barrel, which itself boasts reduced weight and Strike Industries trademarks on either side. The barrel threading means you can mount a tracer unit or suppressor instead of the Oppressor. Just make sure your alternative device has a diameter of less than 38mm to ensure it fits inside the handguard.

For those who want to really light the enemy up, our recommended tracer unit for this beast is the EMG Strike Industries Linear Compensator w/Flare Mono, maintaining the elite Strike aesthetic while providing an edge in instinct aiming and a realistic muzzle flash effect.

Next up, we reach the handguard, a detailed replica of the Strike Industries "Strike Rail", made from CNC-machined aluminium. The Strike Rail features M-LOK slots at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions, a 20mm Picatinny rail running along the top and stylish weight reduction ports between, pairing perfectly with the aggressive overall styling of the build.

The Strike Rail handguard includes QD sling points on both sides, along with officially licensed Strike Industries trademarks. These markings are laser-engraved, ensuring they won’t wear away through regular use and remain far more visible than standard printed trades. One of the biggest advantages of the Strike Rail over other designs is its extended rear profile, which overlaps the upper receiver on either side. This keeps the handguard firmly mounted and aligned with the receiver rail, ensuring no amount of force applied will cause the handguard to loosen up and rotate.

The receiver itself matches the intuitive layout of the original M4/AR-15 platform, but with extended controls for easy access and Strike Industries' considerate approach to ergonomics. The magazine release is the standard push-through-style button, but with a reprofiled surface for improved shooter comfort and weight reduction cuts, which only add to the ultra-modern styling.

At the top rear of the receiver, we can find the charging handle, a fantastic replica of the real steel Strike Charging Handle with an extended latch. The extended latch promotes single-side operation and provides easier access when wearing gloves. Pulling the charging handle back will retract the steel bolt carrier and load the first BB, after which this GBBR will recock itself until the mag runs dry.

On the left side of the receiver, dead centre, we can find the Strike Industries Enhanced Bolt Catch, made from steel to ensure this high-wear part has the strength to go the distance. This control allows you to lock the bolt open by pressing the lower section when the charging handle is pulled and held back. When you shoot until your magazine runs dry, the bolt will lock to the rear, showing you an open, empty chamber on the right side. That's your cue to swap mags and hit the upper section of the bolt catch, sending the hefty steel bolt carrier home with a satisfying metal-on-metal "clank"!

The adjustable HOP-up of this CYMA CGS build is located inside the upper receiver, accessible with the magazine removed and the bolt locked back, using the process described above. With your bolt back and mag out, you can see the flathead screw adjuster through the magazine well.

Turning this with a flathead screwdriver allows you to tune the amount of backspin applied to your BBs to tune for different ammo weights, seeking the flattest possible trajectory. While the CGS adjuster style is unique, the inner barrel and HOP-up bucking are both TM ZET System/GBB/VSR pattern parts, making aftermarket upgrade opportunities practically limitless!

Above the pistol grip on the left side, we can find the fire selector switch, another enhanced Strike Industries-style part known as the "Flip Switch". This is a considerably reduced profile selector, minimising snag potential and reducing chances of accidental actuation while adding extended surfaces with aggressive serrations for optimal traction, whatever the weather.

Below the fire selector, we can find the trigger, a flat-faced example with a serrated surface to keep your finger firmly planted as you pump out semi-auto fire. The trigger guard replicates the real steel Strike Industries Cobra Trigger Guard, made from CNC-machined aluminium with Strike trademarks on the bottom and a ported design to reduce weight. The Cobra features a finger ledge on either side to provide a safe place for your finger to rest off the trigger, and an extension on the front, designed to help guide your magazine in during a reload, functioning similarly to a flared magazine well.

The pistol grip mimics the real steel Strike Industries Enhanced Pistol Grip, boasting an ergonomic design with a filled-out backstrap to support the web of the hand more effectively. The flanks feature stipple-textured panels, and on the front and rear, we are equipped with linear serrations, providing ample gripping qualities, whether you wear gloves or not.

On the bottom of the grip, we have a rubber plug which conceals a storage compartment inside, ideal for accessory batteries, tactical sweeties for a mid-game energy boost or tools like small Allen Keys and Screwdrivers. This would be a great place to stash a flathead screwdriver for HOP-up adjustment if you ask us!

Depending on the length variant you choose, the Oppressor offers two stock options: an 8-position buffer tube with a Strike Viper CQB stock on the 14.5" model and a Strike Industries PDW Stock with spring-loaded functionality on the 7" and 4" PDW variants. Learn more about each stock option below:

14.5" Carbine Variant

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the castle nut, end plate and buffer tube, all of which are Strike Industries-style enhanced parts which closely replicate the real steel. The end plate and castle nut combo is known as the "TRIBUS Enhanced Castle Nut & Extended End Plate V2", featuring 3 QD sling sockets, Strike trademarks and a weight-reduced castle nut with aggressive styling.

The QD sling sockets are positioned to allow two-point sling use from either of the side sockets or single-point sling use from the central socket. If you're after a compatible QD sling which works as a single-point or two-point for a great price, check out the HASTA Adaptive Mission Sling Gen.4!

The buffer tube replicates the Strike Industries 8-Position buffer tube, a weight-reduced design which squeezes an extra 2 positions in compared to the standard 6-position tube, offering more length of pull adjustment options so you can adjust to suit your needs.

Running over the top of the buffer tube, we can find a detailed Strike Industries Viper CQB stock replica, made from robust high-density polymer with a low-profile adjustment lever and body armour-friendly angled butt plate. QD sling sockets are present on either side, with a conventional footman loop sling slot at the toe of the stock. Plenty of built-in sling options on this build!

7" & 4" PDW Variants

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the Strike Industries PDW stock, another replica of a real Strike Industries part. This spring-loaded PDW stock represents the pinnacle of ultra-compact systems. It can be compressed to make the platform extremely short for storage, transportation and tight quarters, then with a press of the button on the bottom, the stock will deploy and lock out. The buffer tube features a rubber overmould, which makes a comfortable cheek rest for those who take their chances without lower face protection!

The Strike PDW Stock is made from a mix of CNC-machined aluminium, alloy, high-density polymer, rubber and steel. The stock bars are steel for optimal strength, and the underside of the stock base features a QD sling socket in the ideal spot for a single-point QD sling. The stock offers 2 positions, both of which are well-suited to CQB shooting stances and cramped conditions. If you need a Strike GBBR for kissing-distance engagements, this is it!

On the inside, the Oppressor is based on the Tokyo Marui ZET System used in its MWS M4A1. This is already a flex, as the TM system is known to be far superior to other GBBR systems and has the widest aftermarket for upgrades. In terms of upgrades, CYMA/CGS has sorted many of the known weak points in the TM design by using steel trigger parts, giving you a longer-lasting GBBR platform and saving you a wad of cash when it comes to upgrading down the line.

To provide super-strong recoil and an immersive firing experience, CGS added a steel bolt carrier to the ZET System formula, providing heightened immersion thanks to its extra mass. This also means you will need to use a stronger gas than you might in a Tokyo Marui to get the same rapid-fire performance. Also present in the build is a 6.03mm tightbore, giving an edge in accuracy potential and gas efficiency, letting this GBBR reach out and touch the enemy team at long range.

If you're into the stylish yet unashamedly aggressive Strike aesthetic and are ready to turn realism up to maximum, the EMG Strike Industries Oppressor M4/AR-15 GBBR is ready for you! A solid build with licensed trademarks and robust, reliable steel internals, this GBBR will definitely please the recoil fiends!

Special Instructions

This is a Gas Blowback Rifle. GBBRs require maintenance and careful handling, and we do not recommend them for new skirmishers. Things to watch out for if this is your first GBBR:

  • The rifle cannot be put into "Safe" mode without first being cocked. Generally, the best way to store a GBBR is with the magazine removed, the rifle uncocked, and the fire selector set to "semi". Do not force the selector into "Safe" when the rifle isn't cocked; this will damage the trigger group parts.
  • The HOP-up adjuster for this TM ZET system GBBR is inside the upper receiver and is accessible through the magazine well using a flathead screwdriver when the bolt is locked open.
  • GBBRs need to be cocked before the first shot, just like a GBB pistol. It is important that you do not double-load a GBBR, as this can break the nozzle. We recommend clearing the chamber of BBs with a cleaning rod in the event that you finish firing mid-magazine and the bolt does not lock back and show an empty chamber.
  • GBBRs generally use higher-pressure gas than GBB pistols due to the extra weight of the bolt. We recommend Green Gas (NUPROL 2.0, VORSK V6, ASG Ultraair) for general use and Red Gas (NUPROL 3.0, VORSK V8) for cold weather use.
  • The faster you shoot a GBBR, the less accurate it will be. This is due to pressure variance as the gas reservoir cools down. Full auto is basically for fun, and these rifles run far better when used in semi-auto mode.
  • Like a GBB pistol, GBBR magazines require maintenance. We recommend leaving a small amount of gas inside the magazine when stored, and not storing the magazines in a cold or damp environment. Magazine seals and valves will need lubrication and to be kept clear of dust and debris.
