A replica of the real steel KS-1/L403A1, which now serves with the British Armed Forces, this lightweight polymer rifle has all the details a realism fan would appreciate and is equipped with impressive pre-upgraded internals that are unheard of at this price point.

Starting at the front, we can find a polymer three-prong eHUB-compatible flash hider for use with EMG KAC accessories. It's mounted to a 14mm CCW male barrel threading. This flash hider is the perfect starting point for an authentic build, but can easily be replaced with a tracer unit, suppressor or alternative flash hider thanks to the common 14mm CCW barrel threads.

Moving rearwards slightly, we come to the Knight's Armament licensed 12.75" URX6 M-LOK handguard, featuring M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions. This allows M-LOK accessories to be placed all around the platform, meaning you can create a neat and functional setup.

Unlike a real AR, you don't need to work the charging handle to load the first round: instead, it opens the dust cover on the right side and retracts the mock bolt carrier, revealing the rotary HOP-up adjuster.

The HOP-up allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your projectiles and tune the KS-1 for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. As this is based on the WELL PRO internally, the HOP unit features a numerical dial so you can track your HOP-up setting for different ammo weights and save time on game day.

Once your adjustment is complete, you can hit either of the ambidextrous "ping pong paddle" bolt release catches present on each side to release the mock bolt with a satisfying "clank".

Above the pistol grip, we can find the 3-position fire selector, offering a default configuration of SAFE-SEMI-AUTO with a 90-degree throw between each mode. Like the other fire controls, the selector is present on both sides, ideal for all shooters, especially those who like to use "shoulder-to-shoulder transitions" to make the best use of surrounding cover.

This selector design is modern and enhanced, with grippy serrations on the surface for fast manipulation in wet weather and a scalloped right-side selector to reduce finger fatigue over long durations of use. With an integrated ETU on board, you can also program the fire modes for alternative functions, including burst modes and binary trigger.

The magazine release is also ambidextrous, present on either side of the magazine well, complete with a protective mag release fence surrounding each button to prevent accidental presses. This means you can crank out an emergency reload from either shoulder with absolute ease, perfect for left or right-handed shooters with a tacti-cool playstyle!

Moving down, we come to the pistol grip and trigger guard assembly, featuring a replica "MIAD" style pistol grip and an enlarged KS-1 style trigger guard. The "MIAD" style grip features interchangeable front and back straps, with the choice of a finger-ridged front to help support the weight of your rifle while held in a "high ready" position. This matches the real KS-1 build perfectly!

The KS-1-style trigger guard allows plenty of space for full finger gloves, including a textured finger ledge as a helpful index point. The receiver has also been redesigned to facilitate this new trigger guard design, improving strength but preventing the standard M4/AR-15 trigger guard from being fitted.

At the rear, we can find the Knight's Armament M4/AR-15 buffer tube, with an ambidextrous QD sling plate fitted between it and the receiver. The sling plate allows QD sling swivels to be mounted on either side, ideally placed for a single-point sling setup.

In our tests, we found that G&G QD swivels don't fit the sockets, but the HASTA Adaptive Mission Sling Gen.4 is a perfect fit. Whichever QD swivel you choose, we recommend testing whether it fits and locks before applying any weight, just in case.

The stock on this KS-1 platform is an EMG SIGMA design. This is based on the real steel "CTR" stock used on the real steel KS-1. It features comfortable sloped cheek pieces and a rubber butt plate for optimal traction in any weather conditions. Also built into the SIGMA design are a pair of QD points and slots for "strap" slings or Paracord.

The battery compartment is inside the SIGMA stock, accessible by pulling the lever down at the top of the butt plate. After which, you can open the butt plate and use the stock's built-in battery compartment to house a nunchuck/crane-style battery. We recommend an 11.1V 1300mAh LiPo battery in crane/nunchuck configuration for an easy fit and that enemy-shredding 11.1V performance!

Internally, this KS-1 Airsoft gun is seriously impressive for the price. Its version 2 gearbox is a high-speed design, powered by WELL PRO. It can do up to 30 rounds per second on 11.1V batteries, and with its 330mm brass 6.03mm inner barrel, accuracy and range are not something you need to worry about!

The icing on the cake of the build is its ETU/MOSFET, which enhances trigger response and adds advanced functionality. The ETU offers options for a 3-round burst instead of full auto and a binary trigger as an alternative to semi-auto, along with low-battery warning, cycle completion and low/high-voltage cutoff. Pre-cocking adjustment is also an option, with 5 levels to choose from, so you can crank trigger response up for CQB.
