Description
If you love a stylish Hi-Capa build, the Golden Eagle 3353 Hi-Capa 5.1 Islander GBB Pistol; Optics Ready should be in your sights! A full metal 'Capa with the custom aesthetic thanks to its unique "Island" ported barrel, the 5.1 Islander is equipped with a 20mm Picatinny frame rail, RMR-cut optics-ready slide and a combat-style flared magazine well, ideal for those seeking a kitted-out sidearm.
The slide is CNC machined from aluminium, giving it flawless details, a super-smooth feel, and keeping weight to a minimum for an edge in cyclic rate. Inside, we're even treated to a robust steel hammer, steel trigger and a 6.02mm tightbore inner barrel for an accuracy edge with high-quality BBs. If you love premium looks without spending premium bucks, the Golden Eagle 3353 Hi-Capa 5.1 Islander GBB Pistol; Optics Ready is ideal!
Starting at the front, we can find 11mm CW female threading at the tip of the 5.1-inch aluminium outer barrel, allowing a tracer unit or suppressor to be fitted using an 11mm CW female to 14mm CCW male thread adapter. If you're planning on rocking a tracer with the 5.1 Islander, we recommend the Eshooter Flare-M, as it is supplied with the correct adapter in the box.
The outer barrel is styled after real steel compensated "Island" barrels, equipped with a line of ports along the top, with the front sight mounted to the barrel itself. The Island barrel conversion is a hallmark of real steel custom 2011/Hi-Capa builds designed for competitive shooting, functioning similarly to a compensator muzzle device to help keep the muzzle flat during rapid fire and control muzzle rise.
Being finished in matte gold, the outer barrel really stands out through the recess at the front of the slide, a look few other Hi-Capas can imitate. The gold barrel is also visible at the chamber, adding an instantly recognisable "custom" look. Like real steel pistols with the Island barrel conversion, the slide of the Hi-Capa Islander is reprofiled around the barrel, reducing slide weight for an edge in cyclic rate.
The slide itself is equipped with front slide serrations, set at a dynamic, swept-back angle for aggressive looks and to match the angle of the rear slide serrations. The slide serrations allow for easy racking from the front or rear, with or without gloves, in practically any weather conditions.
The sights of the Hi-Capa 5.1 Islander can be found on the top of the slide. The front sight is a fixed white dot sight paired with a fixed white dot open sight at the rear, providing a simple, intuitive sight setup which will always work, no matter how clumsy you are in-game. These sights are a tad simpler than other Golden Eagle Hi-Capas, though they are designed to work as secondary sights to a slide-mounted red dot sight.
In front of the rear sight, we can take note of the pre-installed optics plate, designed for RMR footprint red dot sights. Having a red dot optic on board significantly improves target acquisition speed and is a serious edge in dark conditions for those who like to get the first shot off when breaching a room. If you want to save yourself the hassle of choosing the right red dot, we recommend the Theta Optics Rugged Miniature Red Dot Sight.
At the rear of the slide, we can find stylish angled serrations to provide positive control over the slide of the pistol, meaning no matter the weather conditions, you will still be able to cock the slide, with or without gloves. The styling of the serrations matches perfectly with the front serrations, providing the professional aesthetic of a completed piece.
Moving down to the frame, we can find the standard Hi-Capa layout of an alloy frame with a modular, polymer pistol grip. The frame features a 20mm Picatinny rail at the front, which allows for a tactical flashlight or aiming laser to be added for low-light environments or CQB.
The slide release catch can be found on the left side of the pistol, just above the trigger, and is a slightly enlarged design to enable those with smaller hands to use the control effectively whilst remaining tight to the frame to prevent snags. The magazine release can be found on the left side of the grip and is an extended design to allow for easy and fast access when time is of the essence.
The grip itself is constructed from high-density polymer and features dot texturing on all sides to provide the gripping qualities necessary for use in all weather conditions, with or without gloves. As a part of the Hi-Capa design, the trigger guard is integrated into the pistol grip module and includes undercuts for both the strong hand and support hand, encouraging a high grip on the pistol for better recoil control.
At the base of the grip, we can find a magazine well extension with a bevelled inner wall, also known as a magazine well flare. This part is intended to help speed up reloads by providing a widened route to the magazine well, allowing for "eyes up" reloads and easier reloads on the move. The magwell flare included on the 5.1 Islander is a combat-optimised style, complete with cutouts on either side, which allow for retention reloads or the extraction of stuck or fouled magazines.
The manual safety catch can be found at the rear of the pistol, and is mirrored on either side to allow for left or right-handed use. This manual safety can be activated whether the pistol is cocked or not and will lock both the trigger and slide when pushed upwards. When not in use, the safety does double duty as a "gas pedal" style thumb rest to encourage a consistent grip and assist with controlling muzzle rise during rapid fire.
At the rear of the frame, we can find our secondary safety device: the "beavertail" grip safety. This safety prevents the pistol from being fired unless it is pressed in, ensuring the pistol will not fire when dropped and allowing you to safely carry the Hi-Capa, "cocked and locked", with its legendary light trigger. The beavertail present on the Hi-Capa 5.1 Islander is an extended design, featuring texture on the rear surface for additional grip and an extension to ensure the safety is disabled as soon as the pistol is gripped.
Just above the grip safety, we can see the hammer, which is a low-profile skeletonised design intended to reduce the chances of "hammer bite" and prevent the hammer from snagging on your gear as you draw. The angular design of the hammer sits right in line with the visual language expressed by the rest of the pistol, and also includes linear texture on the upper surface to allow for greater control if you need to de-cock the Hi-Capa.
If you need a combat-optimised Hi-Capa sidearm with a side of stylish, race-gun-inspired aesthetics, the Golden Eagle 3353 Hi-Capa 5.1 Islander GBB Pistol; Optics Ready belongs on your belt. A solid full metal build with a generous complement of pre-ugraded steel parts, an optics-ready slide, and the unique Island barrel to make it stand out, the Hi-Capa Islander is a very impressive piece of kit!
