If you're a skilled tech looking for the smoothest-sounding gearbox around, the King Arms 100:300 HQA Steel High Torque Helical Gear Set is the way to go. Made from high-strength steel with a super-high torque 100:300 ratio, this gearset is ideal for high-power springs and DMR builds.

Helical gearsets differ from standard gears in the angle at which the teeth are cut. Helicals have teeth cut at the helix angle to the axis of rotation, ensuring constant meshing of the teeth to reduce strain and noise during cycling. This makes for a super smooth-sounding build, but requires flawless shimming and expertise to properly install.

We recommend using solid bushings and not ball-bearing bushings for this gearset due to the increased axial thrust generated by the helical design. Compatibility-wise, this gearset is for Version 2 and Version 3 gearboxes, but should also fit other gearbox designs with V2/3-compatible gears.

Please note: this set does not include a Pinion Gear for your motor, and you will need a helical pinion gear, as standard pinions won't mesh correctly.

Installation Advice

  • This helical gearbox does not include a pinion gear. A helical pinion gear is required for helical gears.
  • Helical gears require perfect shimming to prevent lateral wobble. Failure to properly shim helical gears can cause damage in a far shorter timeframe than standard straight-cut gears.
  • We recommend using solid bushings and avoiding ball-bearing bushings when working with helical gears. This type of gearset generates more axial thrust (side-to-side force) than standard gears, which can result in premature failure of ball-bearing bushings.
