King Arms AS VAL

King Arms are known for their attention to detail and rock-solid external build qualities, coupled with internals that are up the task - and the AS VAL is no exception! The replica features an entirely realistic external build with an entirely Aluminium 6061 one-piece Suppressor, which helps keep this rifle straight and rigid, feels great to the touch and conceals the 420mm inner barrel. The Polymer aspects of the real thing are replicated here, with the 'handguard/heatshield' and pistol grip being made of Polymer to suit. The folding stock, top dust cover and trim components (sling loops/safety lever etc) are made from Steel which looks and feels great, and makes this replica feel so close to the genuine article.

The King Arms AS VAL is a front wired Version 3 gearbox with a Mini-Tamiya connector, which can be accessed from the front via the integrated suppressor. On the underside of the handguard you will see a spring loaded button - press this firmly and pull on the suppressor to remove the shroud and access the battery connector. You will be pleased to know that this replica is rated to run an 11.1v battery, which will give you a fearsome rate of fire just like the original weapon which has a cyclic rate of 900RPM.

The folding stock has two positions and locks at the rear via a Steel-made locking lug, and is easy to fold down, sitting in place (but not locking) alongside the receiver. The receiver is entirely Alloy which is really well colour-matched with the stock so that you cannot tell the materials change. It also has an AK/SVD style dovetail side rail mount which will let you attach mounts for optics, or other scopes which attach to this system (such as the PSO-4). The ironsights on top of the suppressor are adjustable for elevation, allowing you to shoot out at further ranges provided you know how to use it. The HOP adjustment can be found behind the mock bolt, and is a slider adjust which is very easy to make corrections on.

Included in the box is a 380rnd high capacity magazine which feeds BBs by winding a clockwork wheel on the base of the mag, and a battery organiser clip which makes mounting a tri-cell battery in the suppressor much easier. Also included is a certificate from the supplier with an inspection checklist and a ten-shot average FPS check.

If you're in the market for something completely different which can run an 11.1v battery out of the box, and has the internal build quality to support that kind of rate of fire then this is an absolutely solid choice. The AS VALs are still a rare sight on the field, but maybe that's something to do with the 'Special Forces' aesthetic and play-style that comes with owning something so steeped in 'black bag' history.
