Description
If you're looking for a realistic revolver experience in a hefty, aggressive package, the King Arms Python "EVIL" .357 Magnum Airsoft Revolver is exactly that! A full metal build tipping the scales at a dumbbell-worthy 1.4kg, the "EVIL" is a unique King Arms design inspired by real steel competition shooting revolvers but equipped with combat-ready features such as its 20mm Picatinny railed barrel and the included 20mm Picatinny top rail, ready for a red dot sight or scope.
Inside, King Arms has put in the extra effort needed to ensure the "EVIL" is reliable in the long term. This takes the form of a steel trigger, sear, cylinder hand and cylinder lock, seeing to all the common weak points in other Airsoft revolvers with robust MIM steel parts. Also inside is a 6.05mm tightbore inner barrel and a fixed HOP-up, ensuring accuracy is revolver-worthy, and gas efficiency is peak. If you're in the mood for a wheelgun which is unashamedly aggressive, the King Arms Python "EVIL" .357 Magnum Airsoft Revolver has your name on it!
Starting at the front, we cannot help but notice the incredibly aggressive compensated barrel, styled after real steel competition revolvers equipped with muzzle weights to control muzzle rise under rapid fire. The barrel includes mock compensator ports at the front and a 20mm Picatinny rail on the bottom. This rail means you can run the Python "EVIL" as a primary pistol with a tactical flashlight or aiming laser. It doesn't get much cooler than that!
Moving rearwards, we can take note of the mock heat shield running along the top of the barrel, between the adjustable open iron sights. This serves to prevent heat mirage in the real thing, an essential part of the competitive shooting look. Included in the box we are treated to a 20mm Picatinny rail, which can be mounted on the top of the frame. This rail is of ample length, offering 10 slots so you can mount anything from a micro red dot sight to a full-size rifle scope!
The sights themselves are adjustable via the dial on the top of the rear sight, requiring a flathead screwdriver to apply adjustments. The screw controls elevation, allowing you to adjust for different engagement ranges. The front sight post is a squared design, aligning quickly and easily with the fine rear sight notch.
The controls of the Python "EVIL" are located on the left side of the frame, maintaining a standard revolver layout, just like its less evil brethren. The cylinder release is at the rear of the cylinder, requiring a rearward pull to unlock, after which the cylinder can be swung out to the left side for loading and reloading. Inside the cylinder, you'll find the six included revolver shells, which can be ejected by pushing on the cylinder axis pin/ejector rod. Loading the shells is as simple as dropping one into each chamber, but you can also use the included speed loader if timescale is an issue!
The hammer lives at the rear of the frame, a flat "spur" type hammer ideally suited for cocking with the thumb. The Python "EVIL" trigger system works just like the real thing, replicating the "double action/single action" mechanism perfectly. This means you have two choices when it comes to how you shoot: either cock the hammer before each shot for a short and light trigger pull or simply pull the trigger to actuate the hammer, rotate the cylinder and fire the shot in one motion. If you need to hit a distant target, we recommend cocking the hammer in "single action" mode, but if you need to get shots off in a hurry, simply pull the trigger as fast as you need.
Under the hammer, we have a hidden hammer/trigger lock safety, the only feature present in the King Arms Python "EVIL", which is not included in the real deal. With the hammer uncocked, simply push the safety catch forward to lock the hammer and trigger. When the safety is engaged, you can still open the cylinder to load or unload the EVIL.
The Python "EVIL" is offered in two variants, a CO2-powered model and a Green Gas-powered version. Learn more about each below!
CO2 Version
The grip present on the CO2 version is an ergonomic design with finger ridges and a rubberised texture to keep the EVIL firmly in your grasp. The grip also includes diamond checkering for optimal gripping qualities, along with a gold roundel to complete the Colt Python vibe.
At the base of the grip, we can find the CO2 compartment, designed for 12g Unthreaded CO2 bulbs accessible using the included Allen key. Turn counterclockwise to open the compartment, and with your CO2 bulb inserted, turn clockwise to tighten the cap down and pierce the bulb. This design differs from the Dan Wesson revolver series in that the grip doesn't need to be split in half to insert a CO2 bulb, meaning the grip is made of much stronger stuff and feels far firmer in the hand.
Green Gas Version
The grip of the Green Gas version is made from polymer with a detailed faux-wood texture, reminiscent of the original Python wood grip. The grip is shaped to fit the hand, with diamond checkered panels on each side and a gold roundel just above.
At the bottom of the grip, we can find the gas fill valve for the internal gas reservoir. This requires you to invert the revolver and gas can to fill, just like a GBB pistol magazine. Being a Green Gas-powered NBB revolver, gas efficiency is rather impressive, offering many more shots than you'll need from a sidearm and respectable consistency, especially compared to GBB pistols.
Inside, these King Arms revolvers are considerably stronger and more reliable than other options, equipped with an MIM steel trigger, sear, cylinder hand and cylinder lock. Anyone who's ever had an Airsoft revolver die on them will know, it's usually these parts which fail. With all the essential bits made from steel, you can shoot/play around with the Python "EVIL" to your heart's content, without the worry that you'll end up with a paperweight.
Another edge the Python "EVIL" has over its rivals is its 6.05mm tightbore inner barrel and fixed HOP-up, ensuring revolvers have an effective presence on the skirmish field, even for those who demand competitive performance. Only having 6 shots to play with before a complex reload process will make the "EVIL" a challenge to run, but with a realistic experience unlike any other!
If you value a menacing build with maximum realism and are feeling the wheelgun vibe, the King Arms Python "EVIL" .357 Magnum Airsoft Revolver will definitely please you! Hefty in the right way with steel parts inside and a tightbore barrel, the "EVIL" is a sidearm with serious presence!
