Description

If you dig the subcompact SMG designs and like older, more iconic platforms, then you'll love the KTC KG-9 GBB SMG Pistol! This thing is clearly inspired by the real steel TEC-9 SMG from Intratec, a sub-brand of the Swedish firearm manufacturer. The TEC-9 was released in 1984 and was their only successful platform, but boy was it successful! It sold 250,000 units and is well regarded as a commercial success.

On to this inspired Airsoft platform, it has an open bolt gas blow system, which provides satisfying recoil and a thunderous noise when fired. Although it is a relatively simple Airsoft platform, sometimes that is better, simply load the mag, rack the bolt and let off some shots whilst enjoying the feeling of recoil!

Starting at the front of this platform, we are treated to 14mm CCW threading on the tip of the outer barrel. This is perfect for Airsoft, as most suppressors and tracer units come ready to mount straight onto this threading. The KTC KG-9 GBB SMG Pistol looks absolutely ridiculous with a long suppressor on it, and that's why we love it!

The steel barrel shroud has ported holes in it; on this Airsoft platform, it is a design choice, but the real TEC-9 needed this to help cool the barrel down after long periods of shooting. It is connected to the upper receiver of the platform, which is also steel. There are sling loops on the front and rear of this platform, allowing for all manner of sling setups. At the top of the receiver, there is a set of fixed alloy iron sights that help with target acquisition.

Moving onto the controls of this SMG, the charging handle is located on the left side of the platform and needs to be racked after a magazine is loaded into the KTC KG-9 GBB SMG Pistol. The magazine release is located at the rear of the magazine well, similar to an AK. The ambidextrous release can easily be activated by either hand. The trigger has a comfortably curved design, and above it, you can find the fire selector, a switch that allows safe, semi and full auto fire modes. When pulled to the left side, it is full auto, centred is semi, and to the right is safe.

To adjust the HOP-up of this SMG, you must first rack the bolt back and lock it back, then, inside the ejection port, you can see the gear HOP-up adjuster. This can be adjusted so you can fine-tune your SMG for different weight BBs and different playing arenas, looking for the flattest trajectory possible.

The ergonomic polymer pistol grip has textured panels on either flank, so you can get a great grip on this platform, no matter what weather conditions you are shooting in. This platform doesn't have a stock and ends at the rear of the receiver; this isn't a problem on the KTC KG-9 GBB SMG Pistol, as it is so compact that having a stock would take away from the ease of use that this platform has.

Overall, this is definitely a unique platform when it comes to Airsoft, much like how the TEC-9 was received when that first came out. The KTC KG-9 GBB SMG Pistol has an iconic look with a solid gas blowback performance for its size. It is perfect for collectors and those looking for a different backup that will turn heads on the field!

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
