- 6.03mm Tightbore inner barrel
- High density polymer build
- Ambidextrous fire controls
If you're looking for a solid starter AEG, the Lancer Tactical LT-12 Gen.2 M4/AR-15 RIS EVO NSR AEG should be on your radar! Made almost entirely from high-density polymer with a threaded alloy outer barrel, the LT-12 is ready to rock with 20mm Picatinny accessories and weighs practically nothing, great for "easy mode" skirmishers and newer players with less physical strength.
Inside, the updated LT-12 keeps the proven Lancer Gen.2 internals, including 18:1 steel gears running on 8mm bushings, a quick-change spring guide and a reinforced version 2 alloy gearbox shell. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore paired with a modern rotary HOP-up unit, providing superb accuracy potential and superb HOP-up setting retention to maximise range.
A 14.5-inch barrelled "Carbine length" build, the LT-12 is an ideal multi-role platform, short enough to handle most CQB environments with the barrel length to get the job done at long range. If you're after simple, proven internals in a lightweight player-friendly build, the Lancer Tactical LT-12 Gen.2 M4/AR-15 RIS EVO NSR AEG is a solid choice!

Description
If you're seeking a beginner-friendly, mission-ready M4 platform, the Lancer Tactical LT-12 Gen.2 M4/AR-15 RIS EVO NSR AEG is one to watch. A revamped version of Lancer's Gen.2 LT-12, this version keeps the proven internal setup of the original and adds in a new receiver style patterned after real steel AR-15 "billet" receivers with ambidextrous controls and the "NSR" grip/stock setup inspired by the best real steel furniture out there.
Inside, the version 2 gearbox features a reinforced alloy shell, 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm bushings, a quick-change spring system for easy power tuning and a polymer piston with a full steel tooth rack. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore paired with a rotary-style HOP-up unit, providing competitive range and excellent accuracy potential when used with high-quality BBs. Ready for 20mm Picatinny accessories, a tracer unit or suppressor and fitted with solid internals which don't overcomplicate things, the LT-12 makes a fantastic starter AEG!
Starting at the tip of the 14.5-inch alloy outer barrel, we can find a three-prong "SF" style flash hider, starting the build off with something a bit more exciting and unique than the usual M4 birdcage flash hider. While the SF flash hider looks great, it can be swapped out for a tracer unit or suppressor thanks to the prolific 14mm CCW male threads at the tip of the barrel.
Following the heavy-profile outer barrel back, we reach the quad-rail handguard, featuring 20mm Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions along the full length of the handguard. The 20mm Picatinny rails allow the most common accessories to be easily mounted wherever you need them, including the KAC-style vertical foregrip supplied with the LT-12. If you prefer a slick setup, add rail covers for improved ergonomics!
The upper rail of the handguard meets the receiver rail seamlessly, providing a massive 15.5 inches of uninterrupted rail space along the top; perfect for optical sights of any length. Pre-installed on the top rail, the LT-12 has a set of polymer flip-up aperture iron sights designed to mount to the top rail, which are fully adjustable and can either serve as primary sights to tide you over until you get a red dot on this bad boy, or left flipped down to act as backup sights to your primary sight. The spring-assisted deployment of these sights makes them especially useful as BUIS, as you can simply press the tab on the rear of each of the sights to have them snap up and into place in an instant, ready to take the shot!
The receiver of the LT-12 is significantly styled up to match real steel "Billet" receivers, providing modern looks to pair with its ambidextrous fire controls. The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip on either side and offers 3 modes of fire: SAFE, SEMI and AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. This makes the selector easy to switch, but not so easy that it can be knocked out of position accidentally. The fire selector is also an enhanced design, and this, paired with its ambidextrous functionality, makes it fantastic for use in all weather, with or without gloves, left or right-handed!
The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is also an extended design with a secondary mag release on the opposite side, accessible for either left or right-handed users with the tip of the trigger finger. The charging handle, located at the top rear of the receiver, is also ambidextrous, allowing it to be pulled from either side with a single finger, in line with modern AR-15 shooting doctrine. Ambidextrous controls are the primary improvement in Lancer's Gen.2 NSR line, providing a more advanced look and ensuring left-handed shooters are at no disadvantage.
Pulling back the charging handle will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt carrier to allow access to the rotary HOP-up adjuster. This is the latest HOP-up unit design for the M4/AR15 and provides finer increments of adjustment and holds its setting more effectively when compared to the older gear-style HOP-up unit.
The trigger is a flat-style trigger, pairing well with the modernised "billet" style receiver. The trigger guard is an enlarged and built into the receiver, which allows easy access to the trigger when wearing gloves and improves the overall strength of the receiver. The pistol grip is a modern ergonomic design with a filled backstrap and a reduced grip angle, allowing for more comfortable shooting in CQB when you are running the stock fully collapsed.
The LT-12 also includes a dummy forward assist button to keep the rifle looking faithful to the real MK18 MOD.1. Present on the right side of the upper receiver, the forward assist is a separate moving part which can be pressed in but does not affect the function of the AEG.
At the rear of the receiver, we are treated to an ambidextrous sling plate, which is constructed from steel, providing ample strength to support the LT-12 on a single-point sling. This sling point can also be paired with a front sling point (available separately) if you prefer a two-point sling setup for better stability when moving with the rifle stowed. The high-density polymer AR buffer tube mounts directly following the sling point, offering 6 positions of adjustment for the Lancer Tactical "NSR" stock, making it suitable for any body type.
The NSR stock can be adjusted by holding the adjustment lever on the bottom of the stock and pulling the stock out to the desired length. A modern, low-profile design with a rolled toe for ease of use with body armour, the NSR is a fantastic stock, taking inspiration from some of the latest and greatest real steel designs. The butt plate is rubber, offering plenty of grip for wet-weather skirmishes, and the adjustment lever has texture on it to ensure you can make effective stock adjustments in the field.
The battery compartment of the LT-12 is inside either the buffer tube or the crane stock, and the choice of which you use depends on your battery. If you are using the buffer tube, a 7.4V 1200mAh LiPo stick battery is ideal, though you may need to leave the stock extended in order to fit it comfortably. To get into the buffer tube, simply pull the stock adjustment lever out, and with it held in place, the stock can be slid off entirely to the rear.
The other option is to make use of the battery compartment inside the stock itself, which can be accessed by pressing the two protruding tabs at the toe of the stock and then pushing them through. With this done, the butt plate can be lifted free, revealing a mini-Tamiya battery connector to which you mount your battery. If you are stowing your battery inside the NSR stock, you can fit a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo in nunchuck configuration. Included in the set, we are also treated to a 9.6V 1600mAh NiMh battery to get you going, though you will need a NiMh charger to charge it.
If you're after a beginner-friendly build ideal for both indoors and outdoors skirmishes, the Lancer Tactical LT-12 Gen.2 M4/AR-15 RIS EVO NSR AEG is a solid choice. With proven internals, ambidextrous controls and plenty of 20mm Picatinny rail space for accessories, the M4 EVO NSR is ready to rock!
