Airsoft Brands: Who is Umarex?

About Umarex

Umarex is one of the world's premier suppliers of air rifles and rimfire firearms and has been a prominent name in the industry since its founding in 1972. More recently Umarex has entered the Airsoft market, offering licenced replicas of some of the most well known firearms in existence manufactured by all the biggest names, including Heckler and Koch, Beretta and Glock.

Umarex partners with existing Airsoft manufacturers such as VFC, KWA and S&T to bring the Airsoft world a range of licenced replicas with flawless built quality and an emphasis on real world accuracy. Umarex replicas are amongst the most realistic Airsoft guns available today and have been well received by collectors and skirmishers alike.

Country of Origin

Umarex is based in Germany, and the majority of its Airsoft replicas are built by high-end manufacturers such as VFC and KWA in Taiwan and S&T in China.

Speciality

Umarex specialises in licenced replicas of real firearms, complete with realistic markings. Umarex currently holds the licences for Heckler & Koch, Beretta and Glock amongst others, and offers the most real world accurate replicas of these real firearms currently available.

Umarex Airsoft guns range in quality from the collector and skirmish grade AEG and GBB replicas you will find on Patrol Base, to spring-powered replicas more suitable for backyard shooting, and air pistols which are unsuitable for skirmishing due to their higher power level.

Most Umarex replicas are suitable for skirmishers of any experience level, though their gas blowback rifle line is definitely aimed at experienced skirmishers who like a challenge, and collectors who want something museum-grade to adorn the walls of their man cave.

You will only find Umarex replicas that are suitable for skirmishing here, but if you are shopping elsewhere make sure you pay attention to what you are purchasing as Umarex caters to a wide market, and offer very similar looking replicas with totally different purposes in mind. There is nothing worse than buying a replica intending to skirmish it but being told later that it is too powerful for that purpose!

Range of Products

Umarex's product range covers a wide variety of licensed replicas of iconic real steel firearms, and a Umarex replica would be a great choice if you are the type of skirmisher who appreciates realistic looks, high-quality builds and perfect realism in their Airsoft arsenal. Let's check out their big 3!

Heckler & Koch

Heckler & Koch replicas make up the biggest licenced line of Umarex Airsoft guns, with a range of GBB pistols, GBB Rifles and AEGs available with full trademarks replicating the iconic designs of H&K. From the legendary MP5 which equipped the SAS during Operation Nimrod, aka the Iranian Embassy Seige, to the ultra-modern HK416 A5 which is used by US Delta Force in real steel form, Umarex have everything an H&K fan could ask for with superb build quality and competitive performance.

Umarex's Heckler & Koch replicas are available in several different forms, from affordable AEP replicas which make great sidearms or replicas for target shooting to fully fledged GBBR and AEG rifles, designed for skirmishing but equally capable of looking fantastic on display or making the perfect film prop. If you have seen a Heckler & Koch rifle, pistol or submachine gun you like the look of in a film or on TV, Umarex has probably replicated it perfectly so you can enjoy the H&K aesthetic in 3D form!

Beretta

The Umarex Beretta line covers multiple variants of the Berretta M9 pistol which was once issued as the standard sidearm of the US Army and was also famously carried by John Maclaine in Die Hard. Umarex produces several Berretta pistols based on the M9 design, including the M92, M9 Elite, M9A1 and the latest and greatest Berretta offering in the real steel world, the M9A3.

All Umarex GBB Berretta pistols sport full metal construction for a hefty weight and realistic feel in the hand and precisely engraved real steel accurate trademarks. Umarex also produces a range of electric-powered Berrettas that are well suited to back garden target shooting and display but aren't really competitive on the Airsoft field. If you are looking for a Umarex Berretta we recommend getting one of their GBB offerings, they shoot well and look even better!

Glock

Umarex also holds the licence for Glock Ges.m.b.H and produces a range of highly detailed replicas of the various Glock variants, from the pocket-sized Glock 26 to the Glock 34, a long-slide Glock intended for competition shooting. Umarex Glocks are manufactured either by VFC, GHK or KWA and are available in both Green Gas and CO2-powered versions.

The Umarex Glock series boasts metal slides and high-strength polymer frames and features full trademarks which are precisely engraved and absolutely faithful to the real Glock pistols. Umarex Glocks make fantastic skirmish sidearms but are also very useful as movie props or display items for collectors due to their perfect realism and high-quality build.
