  • Full metal and real wood construction
  • Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Rifle Replica
  • Absolutely stunning quality - Museum-worthy

Lee Enfield fans, this is another one to add to your collection! The S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I is constructed entirely from metal and luxurious real wood, just like the real thing. It has a phenomenal amount of detail paid in its construction, a near-perfect replica of the early wartime No.4 variant, the Rifle No.4 MK.I, which was supplied to the British, Canadian and other allied troops during the early years of WWII.

Most of the metal parts are durable alloys, granting strength and realistic weight and heft, and the wood finish on the stock is gorgeous, looking slightly nicer than a real No.4 MK.I with its deep woodgrain and consistent finish. Whether you want a Lee Enfield for WWII reenactment, skirmishing, or you simply want a wall hanger as a centrepiece for your man cave, the S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Bolt Action Airsoft Rifle is a must-have for Lee Enfield fans!

Description

The Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Bolt Action Rifle was used at the beginning of WW2, it is slightly different from other more common Lee Enfield rifles. It features a shiny brass butt plate and grooved heatshield/handguard. This became less produced further into the war due to the precious materials being used on more important projects and less time being spent on each individual Lee Enfield so they could become more mass-produced for the front lines.

The S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Bolt Action Airsoft Rifle faithfully replicates this wartime rifle, matching the real wood proportions and brass butt plate. Believe us when we say, that this rifle would look right at home in the Royal Armories Museum, or out on the battlefield with an authentic WW2 skirmish loadout.

Starting at the front we can find an accurate replica of the Lee Enfield No.4 muzzle including the mock mounting lugs for the Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I bayonet, with the front sight and its protective wings just behind. The protective wings have circular cutouts on either side to allow more light to hit the front post to make it easier and faster to acquire whilst charging the enemy trenches.

The front sight is a flat blade which is set into a dovetail and can be adjusted left or right using the screw at the front of the left of the sight. With the screw loosened you can slide the sight to the desired position to adjust for windage, and tighten the screw back up again to secure it.

Following the front sight, we come to the first barrel band, constructed from alloy with a flawless finish applied. This barrel band includes mock rivets and steel pins to keep everything firmly in place. The front barrel band also serves to hold the real wood front handguards in place, they are securely attached as there is no movement in these parts whatsoever.

Moving rearwards from the front we come to the handguard and forestock of the No.4 MK.I which is the perfect shape and design to match the real thing. The barrel bands are all in the right places, and the middle band includes an alloy sling swivel which can be paired with the rear sling swivel on the bottom of the stock to mount a traditional Lee Enfield infantry-style sling or other two-point sling.

The top handguard features grooves indented in it. This perfectly mimics the early war model of the Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I, which was produced mostly before WW2 meaning the design could be more bespoke due to the lack of rush for mass-produced infantry rifles. The grooves provide additional grip when aiming down sights as well as some unique styling, not often seen on WW2 replicas due to the real-world platforms often lacking personality due to the sheer number that was produced.

As we reach the receiver we can see the authentic high-walled No.4 MK.I receiver design, complete with a stripper clip guide, and rear iron sight. Unfortunately, the stripper clip guide is obsolete on this replica as it is loaded with BBs through the magazine, but the inclusion for realism is still a nice touch! The micrometre rear sight is the second option intended for long-range accurate fire, providing a flip-up ladder-style sight with full adjustment via the dial on the top and the screw on the front side of the sight base.

The bolt pull of the  S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Bolt Action Airsoft Rifle is exactly what an authentic replica Lee Enfield should have. The Lee Enfield rifle series, going all the way back to the original Rifle No.1 MK.III was well known for its short and fast bolt throw, allowing British Tommys to carry out what is known as a “mad minute”. The mad minute basically involves several soldiers firing as quickly as possible, synchronising their firing and reloading cycle to suppress the enemy in the same way a machine gun team would.

The S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I is very capable of this and requires only a slight turn of the bolt and a short pull backwards to cock the rifle ready for the next shot, making it awesome for the authentic Lee Enfield experience, but also an asset on the field for when you need a fast follow-up shot. For those who have fired a real Lee Enfield; you will be impressed by the feel of the bolt as it almost has the feel of a “cock on close” bolt action, requiring a slight bit of force to close the bolt while being fast to open and operate. This is the aspect of the Enfield action that takes the credit for the “mad minute” and is what separates it from slow bolt actions like the KAR98K and M1903A3 Springfield rifle.

The magazine release can be found inside the trigger guard and requires an upward press to defeat the magazine locking mechanism. This is regarded as a dangerous feature nowadays, but back then, soldiers could be trusted not to pull the trigger when they meant to reload! The real Lee Enfield rifles were only issued with a single magazine and were generally reloaded using stripper clips or individual cartridges, making this feature perfectly adequate for its use with the benefit that the magazine catch cannot be snagged on anything except your finger, so if you drop the mag, you only have yourself to blame.

The safety catch of the  S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I is located on the left side of the receiver, just ahead of the rear stock socket. The catch requires a rearward pull to lock the trigger, and a forward push to release it. The safety can only be activated when the rifle is cocked, and forcing it could damage the rifle so we advise being cautious, don't force it! The safety is fast to use and can easily be actuated from a firing grip with the thumb, and is still effective in wet weather thanks to its textured surface.

Following the receiver and controls, we reach the rear stock socket, and the stock itself. The stock sports the appropriate Enfield shape dating back to the Lee Metford Rifle which pre-dates the S.M.L.E of WWI. The grip section is at a steeper angle than modern sniper rifles but feels great in the hand and works perfectly with the short and fast Enfield bolt.

The butt plate of the S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Bolt Action Airsoft Rifle is the correct design and colouration for the No.4 rifle and is constructed from brass to reduce the damage the rifle will take if dropped on its stock. The real No.4 MK.I had an aluminium butt plate, so this is one more durable! The butt plate also includes a hinged compartment for a cleaning kit, but we think you could effectively conceal all manner of small things, like snacks or tools. At the toe of the stock, we can find our final sling point which matches the real Enfield flawlessly and allows this hefty and substantial feeling rifle to be carried more easily in-game.

The S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Bolt Action Airsoft Rifle is flawlessly built with impressive attention to detail. A must-have for any skirmisher or collector. Its real wood construction and luxurious brass butt plate create a truly beautiful platform that looks straight from the front lines of WW2. If you're a retro skirmisher or a history fanatic, the S&T Lee Enfield No.4 MK.I Bolt Action Airsoft Rifle belongs in your arsenal or in your man cave!
