Description
Introducing the Bushido GI by Saigo Defense, a pre-upgraded M4/AR-15 platform with enviable build quality and supreme performance. The inclusion of a rotary HOP-up unit, paired with a Maple Leaf HOP-up bucking gives this AEG impressive range and accuracy the likes of which are usually reserved for upgraded AEGs. The built-in electronic trigger unit gives the rifle an excellent trigger response, and eliminates the possibility of semi-auto lockup whilst also providing a devastating rate of fire for those moments you need to suppress the enemy! All of these high quality internal features are wrapped up in a strong alloy receiver with a perfectly smooth matt black finish, with a CNC machined aluminium handguard and alloy buffer tube finished with equal perfection.
Starting at the dangerous end, we can find an interestingly designed sound amplifying muzzle device, with an eye catching and unique "heat gradation" finish. This finish is styled after the colour change which occurs in the titanium exhaust pipes of high-performance cars when they heat up and gives the Bushido GI a nice bit of contrast and gives it a customised look. The sound amplifier attaches to the alloy outer barrel via 14mm CCW male threads, allowing you to mount a tracer unit or suppressor should the mission suit it, or an alternative flash hider for a more discrete look.
Surrounding the outer barrel we are treated to a beautifully finished SMR style free floated M-LOK handguard with a streamlined, modern look. This handguard features M-LOK negative space attachment slots at the 3, 6 and 9 o'clock positions, and a 20mm Picatinny rail at the 12 o'clock position which meets the railed upper receiver in a monolithic fashion. This allows optical sights of practically any length to be mounted with room to spare, including red dot sight magnifier combos and short dot style LPVO optics. The M-LOK attachment slots allow any M-LOK accessory to be mounted directly to the handguard, and also allow 20mm Picatinny railed accessories to be added with the use of M-LOK rail sections, 3 of which come pre-installed onto the handguard.
At the top of the handguard and receiver, we can find our flip-up iron sights, which are "Troy" style iron sights with a dual rear aperture and protective wings to protect the sights. The front sight can be adjusted up and down for elevation, using an M4/AR-15 front sight adjustment tool (or small pliers if you are rough and ready) and the rear aperture can be adjusted for windage using the dial on the right side of the sight, without the need for tools. The rear sight provides two apertures, one small one for long-range precision, and a large one for fully automatic fire or use in low light scenarios. To deploy the sights, simply push the button on the left side of each sight, and pull the sight up where it will lock into place.
Next up, we reach the receiver which is a familiar M4/AR-15 pattern with a bombproof anodised finish. The controls follow the usual M4/AR-15 format, with a fire selector on the left side, above the pistol grip, magazine release on the right side of the magazine well, and a mock bolt release catch on the left side, in the centre of the receiver. On the right side of the upper receiver, we also have a dummy shell deflector and a mock forward assist for added realism.
The fire selector provides 3 modes of fire; safe, semi-automatic and fully-automatic, with a 90-degree throw between each fire mode. Each mode is indicated with engraved markings, reading "SAFE-SEMI-AUTO" in classic M4 style. The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver and features an extended latch to allow fast and easy access to your HOP-up unit for in-game adjustments. On either side of the magazine well the Bushido GI boasts laser engraved Saigo Defense markings, which are flawlessly applied. The marking on the left side shows a Saigo logo, reading "SAIGO DEFENSE" below, and the right side features Japanese text in an attractive frame.
The HOP-up unit of the Bushido GI can be found within the mock ejection port and is accessible when the charging handle is pulled back and held to the rear. When this is done, the steel dust cover will pop open and the dummy bolt inside will retract with a satisfying "click-clack" sound. Inside you will find a rotary HOP-up unit, the latest and greatest design for the M4/AR-15 platform, boasting superb resistance to vibration and the ability to hold its setting over a long duration. Adjusting this unit up and down will vary the amount of backspin applied to your BB, allowing you to tune the Bushido GI for different BB weights. The HOP-up bucking installed within this rotary HOP-up unit is manufactured by Maple Leaf, potentially the most credible name in HOP-up buckings at the moment. This gives the Bushido GI pre-upgrade performance, and phenomenal range and accuracy.
The pistol grip of the Bushido GI is an ergonomic "TD" style grip, a much-loved grip design amongst Airsofters and real operators alike. This grip has some added flair thanks to Saigo Defense, featuring another Japanese character marked on the right side, completing the unique look of the Bushido GI. The trigger guard is a standard M4/AR-15 flat type, which can be replaced with aftermarket alternative trigger guards of AEG spec. The trigger of the Bushido GI is a unique design, combining the speed benefits of a flat trigger with a slight curve at the tip to prevent you from slipping off the trigger during rapid strings of semi-auto fire. This trigger also looks fantastic too and contributes to the overall customised look of the Bushido GI.
Following on from the receiver we can find a steel ambidextrous sling plate, which mounts between the alloy buffer tube and receiver, making it perfect for use with a single point bungee sling. The steel construction is a nice touch and guarantees that this sling point is up to the task of supporting a realistically weighted Airsoft AEG without risking failure. The buffer tube of the Bushido GI is constructed from alloy, with the same fantastic finish applied as the receiver. The buffer tube provides 6 positions of adjustment for the sliding M4/AR-15 stock, allowing you to set the Bushido GI up for any body type, or use with body armour or without. This stock is a brilliant design, boasting many modern features such as QD sling sockets on either side, a low profile adjustment lever to minimise snags, a raised cheekpiece to allow for a more comfortable cheek-weld, and an angled butt plate with a rubberised finish for additional grip.
The battery compartment of the Bushido GI can be found within the buffer tube and can be accessed by removing the stock entirely. This is done by pulling the steel cross pin in the centre of the stock out all the way and pulling the stock off the buffer tube to the rear. Inside the buffer tube, you will find a Deans connector to which you mount your battery. The Deans connector is a great choice from Saigo, as it has lower resistance than the standard mini-Tamiya connector which improves the electrical efficiency of the Bushido GI and gives it an impressive rate of fire. We recommend either a 7.4V or 11.1V buffer tube style stick battery with a Deans connector for the Bushido GI.
If you are the type of player who isn't up for messing around with upgrades and wants a high-performance AEG straight out of the box, with all the modularity necessary to mount accessories for various battlefield roles, the Saigo Defense Bushido GI is what you want!

Joule Charts
Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
