The real steel Beryl entered service in 1999, replacing the FB Tantal in Polish Land Forces service and also serving with the Lithuanian and Nigerian militaries, both at home and in peacekeeping ops around the globe. Inside, this unique build is built around a proprietary gearbox design with 18:1 steel gears running on 8mm bushings, a quick-change spring system for easy power tuning, and an EFCS MOSFET to crank up trigger response and provide authentic SEMI - 3RND BURST - AUTO fire modes. Whether you're into Polish Land Forces kit or you need a flawless Beryl replica to finish off your AK collection, the Specna Arms FB Radom wz.96C Beryl AEG Replica is the best option out there!

Description

If you love a rare piece and appreciate authentic details, the Specna Arms FB Radom wz.96C Beryl AEG Replica should be part of your collection. A stunning full metal build with plenty of steel, authentic FB Radom trademarks and a real steel stock and handguard, this beast of a Beryl build ticks all the boxes when it comes to realism, and its real steel furniture puts it at the pinnacle of authenticity!

The Beryl is a Polish-designed enhanced AK rifle, currently the standard issue rifle of the Polish Land Forces. Serial production started in 1999, based on the previous FB Tantal, an enhanced AK variant chambered in the Soviet 5.45x39mm cartridge used in the AK-74.

The Beryl builds on the Tantal for NATO service, rechambered in the NATO-standard 5.56x45mm, with modern attachment interfaces, an extended magazine release, a monolithic 20mm Picatinny top rail, and a redesigned fire selector/safety system added to the proven AK formula. The result is a platform which perfectly hybridises the indestructible AK with western modularity.

Inside, the Specna Arms Beryl replica makes use of a proprietary gearbox design equipped with 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm bushings, a quick-change spring system and an EFCS MOSFET to provide an authentic 3-round burst fire mode. If you collect modern firearms replicas and don't yet have a Beryl, here is your opportunity!

Starting at the front, we can find a realistic replica of the real Beryl muzzle device, with recesses around its circumference, designed for compatibility with rifle grenades. The muzzle device mounts to 14mm CW male barrel threads, meaning you'll need a 14mm CW to 14mm CCW adapter to fit the most common tracers and suppressors.

The barrel itself is slightly longer than a standard AK at approximately 18 inches, providing a unique front-end look which is bound to get the Beryl noticed by the right people in the field. The alloy front sight of the Beryl mounts directly to its outer barrel and provides an adjustable front post with protective wings to ensure an accidental bump or scrape does not render your sights useless.

Moving further down the outer barrel, we come to the dummy gas block, which is constructed from alloy with a convincing gun metal finish applied. This connects to the gas tube, which is the correct design for the Beryl and is stamped from sheet steel for extra realism.

The handguards are real steel examples, made in the FB Radom factory with the same materials and processes as the real deal, providing unparalleled realism for this already very realistic build. With 20mm Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions, punctuated by weight-reducing vent ports which encourage barrel cooling in the real deal, this handguard adds a healthy dose of modularity to the Beryl build, making it ready to rock with aiming lasers, tactical flashlights and more.

Next up, we reach the trunnion block, which provides the mounting point for the classic AK tangent rear iron sight, one of the few original AK features retained in the modernised Beryl. The rear sight is an open design which provides multiple graduations for adjustment and a fine rear sight notch to align with the front sight post.

The tangent sight can be adjusted by pressing the buttons on either side of the sight drum and moving the drum back and forth on its base. The trunnion design of the Beryl differs slightly from the OG AK in its deletion of the usual handguard/gas tube dissassembly lever and the addition of linear grooves on either side to allow the POPC monolithic scope rail to be fitted. These alterations are, of course, authentically replicated in this detailed Beryl replica.

As we reach the receiver, we can take note of its stamped steel construction, giving the Beryl a substantial and realistic feel in the hands, just like the real deal. The receiver has a standard AK-style safety catch on the right side, which doubles as a dust cover, though unlike the original AK, this doesn't provide mode selection. The fire mode selector is on the right side, a 3-position rotary switch offering SEMI-3RND BURST-AUTO fire modes.

The receiver also features several rivets in all the right places, as well as the receiver strengthening dimples present on all Russian stamped AK receivers, a feature which carries through to the Polish Tantal and Beryl. The top cover is also stamped from steel and has all the correct reinforcement ribs to appropriately mimic the real Beryl rifle.

The included "POPC IV" monolithic 20mm Picatinny optics rail mounts over the top of the top cover, solving the issue of loose-fitting AK top covers being unable to hold zero with mounted optics without tightening tolerances and messing with the legendary reliability of the system.

This allows you to fit a wide variety of Western-designed red dot sights and scopes for 20mm Picatinny rails, the most common attachment interface out there. We recommend a 552-style red dot sight, as this design is commonly paired with real Polish-issued Beryls. The POPC IV is made from steel and can be quickly mounted and removed using a locking lever at the rear, just like the real steel.

Pulling back on the charging handle will reveal the rotary HOP-up unit. The HOP-up allows you to tune the Beryl for your chosen ammo weight, looking for the flattest trajectory possible. Once your adjustment is complete, release the charging handle, and the spring will send the mock bolt back to its closed position with a satisfying "clank".

Being a top-wired design, the battery compartment of the Beryl is beneath the top cover. To access the battery compartment, you'll first need to remove your POPC IV optics rail if you have it fitted. Next, push down on the button at the rear of the top cover, then push it through, and the top should come straight off. This top cover lock design is another refinement added to the Beryl by its Polish designers, intended to prevent the top cover from being inadvertently released.

Inside, you'll find a Deans battery connector to which you mount your battery. We recommend a 7.4V 1000mAh LiPo battery in AK slim stick configuration for the Beryl, as space is rather limited inside due to the unique gearbox shell design.

The pistol grip is a standard AKM/AK-74 type pistol grip, with diamond checkering on either side to ensure the Beryl stays firmly in your grasp in any weather conditions. The trigger guard and magazine release can be found just ahead of the pistol grip, and are constructed from steel to provide solid magazine locking and ample rigidity.

The magazine release is placed in the centre of the receiver, accessible from either side of the AEG and appropriately. The magazine retention system of the AK platform is a "rock and lock" motion, requiring you to first index the front "hook" on the magazine inside the receiver, then rock the magazine to engage the catch. The magazine for the Beryl is unfortunately a unique design, and not compatible with standard AK mags. Realism fans will appreciate this, however, as the included magazine features realistic 5.56 calibre markings, and the real Beryl doesn't take AK mags.

The stock mounts to the reinforced Beryl-style stock tangs, a 3-position sliding stock with a rubber butt plate for optimal traction in wet conditions. Adjusting the stock is similar to an M4 stock; simply hold the lever on the bottom down to adjust the length of pull to suit your body type and loadout. A sling slot is present on the top, designed for standard strap-style slings or slings with HK hook hardware. Reinforced stock tangs enhance strength at a key weak point in the AK design, ensuring you'll never experience a failure through normal use.

The stock and its mounting hardware were made in the same factory which makes the real Beryl furniture. Other than modifications to suit Airsoft compatibility, this is an original real steel stock, made from the same materials with the exact same process as the stocks on Polish Army-issue wz.96C Beryl rifles. Skirmishers who value the most authentic build and realistic experience in-game will love this!

Inside, the Beryl makes use of a proprietary gearbox shell design, equipped with an EFCS MOSFET to facilitate its 3-round burst fire mode and enhance trigger response, 18:1 steel gears running on 8mm bushings and a quick-change spring guide to make power tuning a breeze. While it is a unique setup which will take specialist knowledge and skills to upgrade, the Beryl shoots well out of the box, with a satisfyingly quick trigger response and competitive groupings at long range.

If realism is your poison or you're a fan of rare AK-derived designs, the Specna Arms FB Radom wz.96C Beryl AEG Replica should be on your shopping list. A solid, realistic build which absolutely does justice to the real thing and simply cannot be beaten from an authenticity standpoint, the Beryl AEG belongs on every collector's wall!
