If you're after a winter-proof sidearm with a unique look, the Tokyo Marui Model 93R Raffica AEP should be in your sights! An Automatic Electric Pistol (AEP) made from ABS polymer with alloy controls and trim parts, this menacing pistol design is inspired by the iconic Raffica, a 3-round burst-capable derivative of the M92, famed for its presence in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Battlefield 3, and for forming the basis for Robocop's large-and-in-charge "Auto 9".

An ideal lightweight sidearm for a sniper, the 93R boasts both semi-automatic and fully automatic fire modes, with an impressive mag capacity of 40 BBs. On a 7.4V AEP LiPo, the trigger responds quickly, and the rate of fire is plenty to keep heads down while you relocate to the next sniper's hide. If you're more of a CQB player, you'll be happy to learn you can add a railed slide and thread adapter (available separately) to mount a tracer and red dot sight, should the mission require it.

The main advantage of an AEP is its immunity to winter "cool-down", which makes GBB pistols perform poorly in colder weather, especially when fired rapidly. AEPs are also easier to maintain and more reliable in the long term, not to mention cheaper to run because they don't use gas. If you need a sidearm that doesn't quit when the ground gets hard, the Tokyo Marui Model 93R Raffica AEP is ideal!

Description

Starting at the front, we can find a brutal-looking compensated outer barrel protruding from the front of the detailed mock slide. The comp is a big part of the realistic Raffica look, but if you're willing to give it up, you can swap out the slide for the TM 20mm Picatinny Railed Slide / Silencer Adapter for 93R AEP to add a 14mm CCW male-compatible tracer unit or suppressor.

Moving rearwards, we come to the slide itself, made from ABS polymer with a high-quality finish. On each side, we have markings which pay tribute to those of the real thing, but steer clear of any potential licensing issues. The rear of the slide features mock serrations,  a moulded-in mock extractor and a movable mock hammer to complete the look.

On the top of the slide, the 93R features fixed open iron sights with red dots for indexing, great sights for fast target acquisition. If you prefer an optic, you can mount one using the previously mentioned 20mm Picatinny railed slide/silencer adapter combo, which is available separately.

Moving down to the frame, we can take note of the folding foregrip, a massive part of the iconic Raffica aesthetic, used to control recoil and muzzle rise in the real steel. The grip can be deployed by simply pulling it down, and the correct technique is to run your thumb through the trigger guard for a secure grip. If you need a tactical flashlight for dark CQB sites, you can swap the grip out for the TM 20mm Picatinny Frame Rail to allow for it.

Following the foregrip, we come to the enlarged trigger guard, providing plenty of space for full-finger gloves and easy access to the trigger. The trigger is a curved design, just like the real thing, keeping the visuals authentic across the piece. The magazine release is on the left side, just behind the trigger, a simple push-through button which is easy to use and fast to reach from a firing grip.

On the left side of the frame, we have a mix of dummy and functional controls. At the front, we have the slide release catch, which allows the slide to be removed to access the battery compartment. To remove the slide, hold the button on the right side down, and rotate the catch clockwise by approximately 20 degrees. With this done, lift the slide off, and you're inside.

The battery cradle is below the barrel, and your battery needs to be inserted from the right side. Align the AEP connector with the battery mount and slide it in diagonally until firm. We recommend a 7.4V 680mAh LiPo in AEP configuration for a spritely trigger and a satisfying rate of fire. To remove your battery, press the flag on the left side to push the battery out of its mount.

Behind the battery removal assist flag, you'll find the HOP-up adjustment dial, allowing you to tune the amount of backspin applied to your BBs for a flat trajectory with your chosen ammo weight. The AEP HOP-up design is known to be extremely effective, and while this is a relatively low FPS platform, you'll be surprised with how far your BBs fly when the HOP-up is perfectly tuned.

Following the disassembly catch, you'll find a dummy slide lock lever which matches the real thing perfectly. Like the other functional and dummy controls, the slide lock is made from alloy with a contrasting gunmetal grey finish, which makes the details pop and avoids the telltale signs of a replica.

Behind the dummy slide lock, we have the fire selector switch, a two-position switch which provides full auto in the horizontal position and semi-auto when pushed upwards. Each fire mode is indicated with recessed dots finished with white enamel, just like the real Raffica. Behind the fire selector, we have the safety catch, a textured lever which locks the trigger when pushed down to cover the red enamel dot.

Special Instructions

These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.

FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.

Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.

Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
