WELL PRO MB08AE Sniper Rifle; Upgraded Version

If you've been looking for a British sniper rifle that shoots as good as it looks, the WELL PRO MB08AE; Upgraded Version is a great shout! This rifle has had its internal parts upgraded with steel and aluminium parts to make it more reliable and consistent. Plus, its ABS polymer chassis and CNC aluminium receiver give it that authentic and high-quality look.

Starting at the front, we can take note of the straight-fluted aluminium outer barrel, which is in line with the latest versions of the real L96. The outer barrel is threaded; however, we could not confirm the threading. There are aftermarket thread adapters available; just make sure it is compatible with this specific WELL PRO platform.

Following the barrel back brings us to the chassis, which is a perfect match for the real Accuracy International L96 chassis, complete with finger grooves at the front for improved handling and a thumbhole stock with an adjustable cheekpiece and butt plate at the rear. The chassis is constructed from super-strong high-density polymer and attaches to the action via 3 screws, promising a tight fit and perfect accuracy, with no chance of barrel wobble.

At the front of the chassis, we have an L96 bipod spigot/socket which allows Atlas-style bipods to be directly mounted, or tri-rail mounts to be fitted for more accessory options. The WELL Bipod for Picatinny rail is a great option. On the bottom front, we have yet another bipod mounting option in the form of a Harris bipod/sling stud. This allows you to fit a Harris-style bipod directly or a sling loop. Speaking of sling loops, we are treated to one on either side of the chassis front, allowing you to add a two-point sling using the rear points on either side.

To the rear of the Harris lug, we come to the magazine well. The magazine catch is located at the front of the mag well and is recessed inside, ensuring any snags don't dump your precious magazine onto the woodland floor. This is also where you access the HOP adjuster. It is inside the magwell, in front of the magazine release. Using an allen key, you can fine-tune the HOP for your desired BB weight.

Next up, we reach the receiver, which follows the typical and iconic L96 shape. The receiver is constructed from CNC-machined aluminium with an integrally machined 20mm Picatinny rail up top. The CNC construction means a flawlessly crisp shape and improved strength when compared to other L96 replicas with cast alloy receivers. An integrally machined 20mm Picatinny rail will not loosen over time like similar rifles with screwed-in rails.

The safety catch can be found on the right side of the bolt, as it is on a standard L96, taking the form of a textured lever which can be slid back and forth to select between safe and fire. Beneath the safety, there is a red enamel dot which indicates the rifle is on "fire".

As we arrive at the rear of the rifle, we can find one of the most recognisable aspects of the L96 external design, its multi-adjustable side folding thumbhole stock. This stock is based on the real steel "AWF" stock for the L96 and can be folded to the left side for transportation and storage. Another feature of this stock is its monopod, found at the rear. It can be pulled out to 6 different lengths, then a single press of the button returns it to the stock.

The thumbhole stock design is remarkably comfortable and a massive step up from conventional rifle stocks when shooting in the prone position. The grip is an ergonomic shape and supports the hand well, with no odd protrusions on either side, making it usable for both left and right-handed shooters.

The cheekpiece can be raised and lowered to provide the perfect view through your optical sight or removed entirely if you use a full face mask. The thumb screws on either side, just below the cheekpiece, provide the adjustments. Cheekpiece adjustments can now be applied via a pair of thumb screws on the right side; simply loosen them up, lift the cheekpiece to where you need it and then tighten the thumb screws to lock the cheekpiece in place.

The butt plate can also be shortened to suit those who wear body armour by removing the spacer between it and the chassis. This stock has been widely praised both in Airsoft and the real world, and with Novritsch's enhanced rubber butt plate installed, the handling qualities have got even better!

Inside, the MB08AE has been tricked out by WELL PRO, making it a massive step up from the previously released standard version. The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore, giving a slight FPS boost and super accuracy when used with high-quality, heavy-weight BBs. The trigger group has also been enhanced with a 90° trigger sear and reinforced steel parts, ensuring this beast can go the distance with high FPS. The piston is CNC machined from aluminium and sealed to the piston head to reduce air leaks, and the cylinder is made from stainless steel to ensure the bolt pull is nice and smooth.

Almost all internal parts are VSR-10 spec, meaning plenty of upgrade options if you want even more! The spring is APS2 spec (9mm diameter), and the HOP-up bucking is VSR/GBB spec, giving you access to all the best options from the almost unlimited HOP-up bucking aftermarket!

This is an excellent choice for anyone interested in picking up the sniper role at their next skirmish. It feels incredible in the hands, and with its upgraded internal parts, it's a treat to shoot. All it needs is a big old scope, and you will be all set for camping in the bushes!

Special Instructions

The WELL PRO MB08AE Bolt Action Sniper Rifle, Upgraded Version, is not supplied pre-built and will require assembly. This is relatively easy, but is not explained clearly in the included user manual.

• First, lower the action into the chassis with the barrel slightly raised, indexing the extension at the rear of the trigger guard into the slot inside the stock.
• With this done, push the action down into the chassis until it touches the barrel at the front, taking care to ensure the magazine release assembly is aligned with the button on the outside of the chassis.
• With the action positioned in the chassis, tighten the screw behind the magazine well. Please take care not to overtighten the screw, as this can cause damage to the internals.
