  • Pre two-tone smoked transparent
  • Great to teach young'ns the ropes

If you have been looking for an Airsoft gun that is well-suited to teaching younger beginners safe and responsible use before they are ready for a "proper" Airsoft gun, you have found what you need! The Cybergun Mossberg M590 Spring Shotgun is constructed entirely from polymer.

It is injection-moulded from smoked transparent polymer with a black pistol grip and pump, classifying this as a "pre two-tone" Airsoft gun, which is VCRA compliant and ready for immediate dispatch. The lightweight construction of this shotgun, together with its light and short pump throw and single-shot action with a large magazine, makes it ideally suited to younger users who may find an AEG or Tri-shot shotgun difficult to use.

Full description

Description

This Mossberg Spring Shotgun isn’t the type of Airsoft gun Patrol Base would usually recommend for skirmishing, but it serves a far more important role, helping parents safely introduce young people to the fundamentals of Airsoft and shooting sports.

It’s ideal for supervised target shooting in the back garden and for teaching those who are a little too young for a “proper” skirmish-ready Airsoft gun how to handle one safely and responsibly. For parents looking to nurture an interest in Airsoft or shooting sports, this is an excellent stepping stone, helping to instil safe habits and respect for equipment from an early age, skills which will last a lifetime.

Powered by a simple internal spring, this shotgun is cocked using the pump-action grip at the front. The action is simple and easy to operate, making it suitable for younger or less physically strong users under adult supervision. This ease of use makes it far more approachable than many other spring-powered or tri-shot shotguns, allowing new shooters to focus on safety and technique rather than struggling with the mechanism.

Styled after the iconic sawn-off M870 shotgun often seen in modern films and games, this Airsoft shotgun features a classic wood-style semi-pistol grip and pump handle. While the furniture is made from durable polymer rather than real wood, it still delivers an authentic look that helps younger users feel engaged and excited while learning.

The controls strike a great balance between realism and safety. The trigger-lock style safety physically prevents the trigger from being pulled and is located at the rear of the receiver, easily operated by the thumb. Its large, highly visible design allows parents to quickly check whether the shotgun is safe at a glance, making it especially suitable for teaching correct safety procedures and reinforcing good habits during use.

The Mossberg M590 uses a spring-loaded magazine with a generous 180-round capacity, reducing the need for constant reloading and keeping sessions enjoyable and uninterrupted. BBs are loaded via a concealed fill port at the rear of the magazine, while the follower can be pulled down to feed BBs smoothly into place. The magazine release is positioned just ahead of the trigger guard and allows for quick, simple removal when it’s time to reload.

An adjustable BAX system (HOP-up) is also included, allowing parents or more experienced users to fine-tune BB backspin for improved accuracy and consistency. The adjustment lever is located on the mock ejection port on the right side of the shotgun. For best performance and reliability, we recommend using high-quality 0.2g BBs, as the low-quality BBs included in the box should not be used and may cause jams or damage.

If your child is moving on from toy blasters and showing an interest in Airsoft or shooting sports, a single-shot Airsoft shotgun like the Cyber Gun Mossberg is a fantastic way to introduce them to proper safety, responsibility, and handling techniques. With close supervision and the right guidance, it helps build confidence and good habits early on, setting the foundation for a safe and enjoyable future in Airsoft skirmishing or other shooting sports.
