Delta Armory DA-A10-ETU ALPHA™ Silent Ops DMR M4/AR-15 AEG

If you prioritise stealth and tangle with targets at long range, the Delta Armory DA-A10-ETU ALPHA™ Silent Ops DMR should be your next platform. A full-length integrally suppressed M4/AR-15 platform, the DA-A10-ETU is ideally suited to long-range but short enough to handle a mixed environment. The combination of a 10-inch outer barrel with a 5-inch suppressor makes this beast the same length as the standard M4A1 carbine, meaning it can go anywhere and do anything, though we think it would make a fantastic DMR base gun, especially this, the ETU version!

Being an AEG of the Delta Armory ALPHA™ line, the DA-A10-ETU Silent Ops DMR is considerably pre-upgraded straight out of the box. Inside the reinforced version 2 gearbox you will find a plethora of CNC machined aluminium parts, including the nozzle, piston head and cylinder head, along with CNC machined steel 16:1 gears, cylinder and spring guide. 

With Delta's strongest parts present, an electronic trigger unit/MOSFET was added to the formula, providing pre-cocking and the ability to program the selector for burst mode and binary trigger, backed up by a high torque neodymium magnet motor. The MOSFET provides 3 or 5 round burst, binary trigger and pre-cocking, all of which can be programmed in using the fire controls of the AEG itself. 

Equipped with a KeyMod handguard and modernised receiver, the Silent Ops DMR hones the M4/AR-15 platform with ultra-modern externals inspired by high-end real steel ARs. Whether you are going all the way and building a semi-locked DMR or simply adding an optic and getting to work in any environment, the DA-A10 Silent Ops DMR will be an asset to your game. 

Starting at the front end we can find a pre-installed aluminium suppressor which covers the 360mm 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, mounting to the 10-inch alloy outer barrel. This gives the Silent Ops DMR a stealthy aesthetic, similar to the much-lauded "Honey Badger" configuration but with the extra length to handle long range encounters. The suppressor mounts to 14mm CCW male threading but due to the inner barrel length, a barrel extension will be required to mount a tracer unit.

Moving rearwards, we come to the handguard of the Silent Ops DMR which is constructed from aluminium using CNC machining, guaranteeing in-spec attachment slots and rails and a flawless form. The handguard is equipped with a 20mm Picatinny rail along its entire upper surface, allowing for a wide range of 20mm Picatinny accessories to be added without hindering your ability to also mount a massive scope. 

At the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, we are treated to KeyMod negative space attachment slots, allowing you to mount the latest vertical and angled foregrip designs directly or make use of 20mm Picatinny rail adapters for KeyMod if you prefer 20mm Picatinny accessories. The front end of the handguard is also swept back, adding to the dynamic, modern styling of the Silent Ops DMR. 

The benefit of KeyMod is that in its slick configuration, the handguard is incredibly light and surprisingly ergonomic, meaning you don't need to add rail covers to avoid the cheese grater effect as you might with a 20mm quad rail. In this integrally suppressed configuration, the front 3 KeyMod slots are non-functional due to the lack of space between the inner handguard wall and suppressor, though the other KeyMod slots can all be used with the suppressor in place. 

The receiver of Delta Armory's Silent Ops DMR is a modernised design, complete with machined in gripping texture on the front of the magazine well, ideal for shooting from unconventional positions and angular surfaces across the receiver, giving the old '60s AR design a 21st-century facelift. Running along the top we have a 20mm Picatinny rail, ready for your optical sight of choice. The Delta Armory 1-6x24IR LPVO looks great on this platform, trust us! 

The fire selector is positioned just above the pistol grip and offers 3 modes of fire; SAFE, SEMI and AUTO, with a 90-degree throw between each mode. This makes the selector easy to switch, but not so easy that it can be knocked out of position accidentally. Being the ETU-equipped version of the Silent Ops DMR, this beast can also be programmed for 3 or 5-round burst, binary trigger and precocking using only the fire controls of the AEG itself. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well and is accessible for a right-handed user with the tip of the trigger finger, being the standard AR push-through button. 

Pulling back the charging handle, located at the top rear of the receiver will open the dust cover and retract the mock bolt carrier to allow access to the rotary HOP-up adjuster. This is the latest HOP-up unit design for the M4/AR-15 and provides finer increments of adjustment and holds its setting more effectively when compared to the older gear style HOP-up unit. The charging handle has an extended latch for easier access, allowing even those with thick gloves to access the HOP-up unit, though you may need to take off a glove to turn the adjuster!

The mock bolt catch is located in the centre of the left side of the receiver, and while this is a dummy control which doesn't provide a function it is nonetheless a separate part to maintain the realistic appearance and avoid the tell-tale signs of being a replica. The dummy forward assist is present on the right side of the upper receiver, right where it should be. This control does nothing on an AEG, and some real AR shooters argue it does nothing on the real thing, but it is included on the Silent Ops DMR to keep the rifle faithful to real M4/AR-15 rifles.

The pistol grip of the Silent Ops DMR boasts a refined grip angle for greater comfort when shooting with the stock fully collapsed and in more modern shooting stances. Based on the real steel "Gunfighter mod.3" grip, a modern ergonomic design, each flank of the pistol grip includes fine texturing for perfect wet weather handling. The trigger is known by Delta Armory as the CNC Type A Flat trigger, offering a flat serrated front surface with a short finger ledge, ideal for rapid double taps. The trigger guard is also enlarged and built into the receiver, improving strength considerably and following trends in the latest high-end real steel AR-15 rifles.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction of the sling plate practically guarantees even if you mount a massive rifle scope, PEQ box and RunCam on the Silent Ops DMR, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight.

To the rear of the sling plate, we come to the M4/AR-15 buffer tube, which is constructed from alloy. The buffer tube offers 6 positions of stock adjustment for the pre-installed Delta Armory battery stock. To access the battery compartment, squeeze the two tabs at the toe of the stock together, after which you can lift the butt plate off, remove the battery plug, and make use of the stock's built-in battery compartment to house a nunchuck/crane-style battery. For the DA-A10-ETU ALPHA™ Silent Ops DMR, we recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo stick battery for the best combination of an easy fit and great performance. 

Being an ALPHA™ ETU series AEG, the DA-A10-ETU Silent Ops DMR is fitted with more than its fair share of pre-upgraded parts, making it fantastic value and ideal for the skirmisher who doesn't want to faff around with upgrades, preferring to get out there and play!

Inside the version 2 gearbox, we are treated to CNC 16:1 ratio steel gears running on 7mm ball bearing bushings, an SHS piston with a full rack of steel teeth, an SHS tappet plate for reliable feeding, and a CNC aluminium piston head, cylinder head and nozzle for maximum long term durability. The cylinder is also CNC machined from steel, as is the spring guide.

These ultra-strong CNC parts are powered by a high-torque motor with Neodymium magnets, kept in check by the ETU/MOSFET system. The result is an incredible trigger response and rate of fire, with more than enough range to compete with the big boys out in the woods. The party trick of the ETU/MOSFET is the ability to program the fire controls for burst mode, binary trigger and pre-cocking, giving this incredibly cost-effective setup some functions usually reserved for platforms twice this price!
