Description
If you need a menacing DMR base platform at the cutting-edge of real steel rifle design, the EMG Daniel Defense DD5® AEG DMR Rifle is a superb option! A full metal build licensed by Daniel Defense via EMG, the DD5® is DD's 7.62x51 DMR rifle in real steel form, making it a fantastic base platform for a realistic, modern Airsoft DMR build!
Like other DD licensed rifles from EMG, the DD5® also comes equipped with a full complement of licensed Daniel Defense parts, including the "Grip-N-Rip" charging handle, "Tornado" pistol grip and DD collapsible buttstock. The meaty, upscaled 7.63x51mm-style receiver is also adorned with a mix of crisply engraved trademarks and white laser-engraved calibre and model markings, completing the authentic Daniel Defense external build.
Inside, we're treated to CYMA's Platinum Gen.2 internals, including a new reinforced gearbox shell with a CNC aluminium nozzle added to the already stunning CYMA Platinum E-Edition internals. The high-speed Neodymium magnet motor, CNC steel gearset, CNC aluminium compression group parts and the Kestrel Basic programmable ETU of the previous generation are still present; the overall result is a serious contender on the field, no matter which role you use it for. If you're after something with more presence on the field than the typical M4, the EMG Daniel Defense DD5® AEG DMR Rifle is exactly that!
Starting at the front, we can find either a realistic replica of the DD Superior Suppression Device muzzle brake on the 15" V3 model or the menacing Daniel Defence Linear Compensator on the 10.5" SBR configuration. Each device suits its build perfectly, with a sleek brake design for the longer version and a compact, aggressive device on the SBR. Beneath the muzzle device, we are treated to 14mm CCW male barrel threads, allowing a muzzle device of your choice to be fitted easily, from tracer units to suppressors and more!
Following the muzzle device, we come to the handguard, a flawless replica of the real steel DD5 handguard, a variation on the DD MFR XL rail redesigned for the larger DD5 rifle. Made from CNC-machined aluminium with M-LOK slots at 3, 6 and 9 o'clock, the DD5 rail is far slimmer than other military-style DD builds, making it ideal for modern shooting stances and those who prefer a slim-profile handguard. On top of the handguard, we are treated to a full-length 20mm Picatinny rail, which mates seamlessly with the receiver rail to allow for optical sight setups of practically any length to be mounted with ease.
At the front of the receiver, you'll notice a slight extension to the upper, providing a rock-solid DD-style 4-bolt mounting system for the handguard, ensuring it can never loosen up and rotate. The receiver itself is made from alloy, with a flawless matte black finish and Daniel Defense trademarks exactly where we would expect. On the left side of the lower receiver, we have precisely engraved DD markings which match the real thing perfectly, with additional laser etched markings on the left side of the upper, including the 7.62 calibre marking and DD model number.
The charging handle is located at the top rear of the receiver, and as we might expect, is a licensed Daniel Defense design. Known as the "Grip-N-Rip", the charging handle is ambidextrous, with enlarged latches on either side allowing for flawless functionality for both left and right-handed shooters, whether you wear gloves or not.
Pulling the charging handle back will pop open the polymer DD-marked dust cover and reveal the mock bolt carrier. The mock bolt carrier will also lock to the rear, allowing access to the rotary HOP-up unit. This unit is constructed from alloy for increased strength, allowing you to tune the DD5 for your chosen ammo weight, seeking the flattest possible trajectory. Once your adjustment is complete, slap the ambidextrous bolt catch on either side to send the mock bolt home with a satisfying "clank".
The fire selector switch is located on either side of the receiver, just above the pistol grip, an ambidextrous design for ease of use for left or right-handed shooters. The selector provides 3 modes of fire: safe, semi-automatic and fully automatic, with a 90-degree throw between each mode; however, 3-round burst and binary trigger options are programmable using the pre-installed Kestrel Basic ETU.
The magazine release is in the conventional location, on the right side of the magazine well, easily within reach of the trigger finger when the DD5 is held in a firing grip. While the real DD5 has an ambidextrous magazine release, this simply isn't possible when an Airsoft gearbox is involved. As such, the mag release on the left side is a dummy and cannot be pressed, including merely to complete the authentic aesthetic.
The trigger guard of the DD5 is an enlarged design to allow easy trigger access for gloved shooters, built into the receiver to improve overall strength. The pistol grip is a near-flawless replica of the real steel Daniel Defense Tornado pistol grip, a slim, ergonomic design with a rubber overmould for optimal traction.
The stock replicates the real steel Daniel Defense Buttstock, a precisely manufactured stock designed to eliminate lateral wobble and add ergonomic enhancements for a more comfortable shooting experience. The sides of the stock are sloped, similar to a crane stock, but feature rubberised pads on the surface for a positively luxurious cheek weld.
A QD sling socket is present on either side, ready for QD sling swivels, and the stock also includes conventional "footman loops", aka sling slots for standard rifle slings. The butt plate is also serrated for extra grip and shaped to allow for a high hold and a more intuitive head position when shooting.
The battery compartment is hidden within the stock, which is accessible with the butt plate removed. To do so, simply press the rectangular EMG marked section in the centre of the butt plate, and it will pop straight off. Inside, you will see a Deans battery connector to which you mount your chosen battery. You can make use of either the buffer tube itself for your battery if you use stick batteries, or the hollowed "cheeks" of the stock if you prefer a crane/nunchuck battery. We recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo battery in Crane/nun-chuck configuration.
On the inside, we're treated to CYMA Platinum Gen.2 internals, one of the first platforms to hit the market with this generation of internals. The V2 long gearbox features a reinforced shell to provide a longer lifespan and improved reliability with DMR-strength springs.
Inside, you will find a CNC-machined steel gearset, a CNC-machined aluminium silent piston head and cylinder head set, a polycarbonate piston with a full rack of steel teeth and a ball bearing quick-change spring guide. Newly added to the Gen.2 Platinum internals, we also now have a CNC aluminium nozzle, ensuring this high-wear part has the strength to go the distance.
The highlight of the DD5 is its Kestrel Basic ETU/MOSFET, which offers 6 levels of adjustable pre-cocking, options for 3-round burst and binary trigger fire modes, along with low battery warning, cycle completion, active braking and low/high voltage cutoff. This means you can crank up the trigger response for super-fast double taps or run the DD5 with SAFE-SEMI-3RND BURST fire controls, preserving ammo while improving hit probability. The inner barrel is also a 6.03mm tightbore example paired with an alloy rotary HOP-up, getting you off to a good start with solid parts if you're planning a high-FPS DMR build!
If you're committed to modern platforms and need a DMR-style build to handle long-range threats, the you're in good hands with the EMG Daniel Defense DD5® AEG DMR Rifle! A flawless external build with CYMA's best pre-upgraded internals yet and EMG's flawless licensed Daniel Defense trademarks, this beast ticks all the boxes!

Special Instructions
These table can be used as a reference to see if the BB weight you are using will be over acceptable Joulage limits at some Airsoft Sites in the UK. To check if the weight can be used chrono your weapon using the BB you intend to use, and then compare it to the chart.
FPS, Power and Joule Limits can vary from site to site, so please get in touch with where you're going to play with in advance to avoid disappointment.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, with a 350fps limit for Automatic Replicas, 400fps for Semi-Automatic Replicas, and 500fps for Bolt Action Replicas.
Tap the tabs below to open the relevant chart for your replica.
This table should be used for reference, and cannot be used to check one weight against another, as the weight of the BB affects the power.
In order to check if the BB can be used with your replica chronograph using the weight you wish to use and then compare it against the table.
Every time you change weights you will need to re-chrono and check against the table. This is not a conversion chart between weights.
Suggested limits are based on Joulage Limit rules used Halo Mill: Proving Grounds, and is the equivalent of 350fps, using 0.20g BB resulting in an upper limit of 1.14j.
