If long guns are your thing, you'll love this one! The Golden Eagle E6902M M-417 DMR Long AEG is based on the "Marksman" configuration of a well-known rifle we all recognise, boasting full metal construction, a pre-installed MOSFET and a tightbore inner barrel. The "Marksman" configuration has a 16-inch outer barrel and 13-inch handguard, giving you plenty of barrel length for maximum accuracy and extra rail space for a bipod along with your usual mission essential equipment.

On the inside, the E6902M is based around a version 2.5/version 2 long gearbox with enlarged cylinder group parts to provide greater air volume for improved performance with long inner barrels. The cylinder group parts are all version 2.5 spec, but the 18:1 steel gears are TM V2/3 compatible, meaning aftermarket high torque or high speed gears are well within reach for the upgrade fiends. If you have too many short platforms and need a reminder that size matters, the E6902M should do it!

Description

If you are keeping your eye out for a DMR base gun, the Golden Eagle E6902M M-417 DMR Long AEG definitely has the looks! Based on the real steel "Marksman" configuration of the real thing, the E6902M is large and in charge with its 7.62x51/.308 style magazines, enlarged receiver and lengthy 16-inch outer barrel, making it ideal for a DMR setup, especially if you are a milsim player rocking a UKSF loadout.

On the outside, the E6902M boasts full metal construction with high density polymer furniture, matching the real rifle perfectly and providing a hefty and realistic feel. The finish of the metallic parts is fantastic, with a hard-wearing matt anodisation which should resist wear and tear well. You will never be short of 20mm Picatinny rails on this platform; the handguard boasts rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions and the receiver rail mates with the handguard seamlessly, allowing for truly massive optics, laser aiming modules and all manner of other mission essentials to be fitted with ease.

Starting at the front, we can find the 417 style birdcage flash hider, a larger version of the device commonly seen on M4/AR-15s but upscaled to the 7.62x51 calibre appropriate size. The flash hider is constructed from alloy and looks great as it is, but thanks to the common 14mm CCW male threading at the tip of the outer barrel, mounting a tracer unit or suppressor for the authentic DMR look is as easy as unthreading the flash hider and screwing on your preferred muzzle device.

The outer barrel is 16 inches in overall length, making this a great platform for a DMR conversion and matching perfectly with the "Marksman" configuration of the real rifle. The handguard measures 13 inches and is equipped with 20mm Picatinny rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions, ready for a bipod, PEQ laser, tactical flashlight, vertical or angled foregrips and optical sights to be added wherever they are required. The handguard also features vent ports punctuating the 20mm Picatinny rails, giving the E6902M the appropriate realistic look and also helping to reduce the overall weight for a more pointable front end.

The dummy gas block is beneath the handguard and includes a sling mounting loop which is accessible through the port at the bottom of the handguard, around 2/3 the way along. This can be coupled with the sling slots on the stock to mount a two-point sling setup without the need for additional parts. We recommend using a loop of paracord or a keyring if you find that your sling hook is too large to fit through the gas block sling loop to give a bit more flexibility and compatibility with a wider range of sling hook types.

The receiver follows the M4/AR-15 format but is much larger than a normal M4, keeping things authentic to the real-world platform. The magazine release is located on the right side of the mag well and is a push-through design, sitting well within reach of the trigger finger when the rifle is held in a firing grip. The texture on the surface of the mag release helps improve wet weather functionality, enhancing grip so you never slip off the mag release.

The fire selector of the E6902M is ambidextrous, making it a great platform for left-handed shooters who refuse to change or right-handed shooters who like to shoulder-to-shoulder transition to make the best use of surrounding cover. The fire selector switch is on either side, just above the pistol grip, sporting the standard 90-degree throw between fire modes and SAFE-SEMI-AUTO fire mode options. Each position is denoted with a red high-vis pictogram, with safe being indicated with a white crossed-out projectile.

The mock bolt catch is positioned on the left side of the receiver, with the standard "ping pong paddle" release in the centre, completing the realistic external look. The charging handle has an extended latch on the left side, meaning it can be pulled with a single finger with ease, even if you are wearing thick full-finger gloves. Pulling the charging handle back will retract the mock bolt and lock it to the rear to expose the HOP-up adjuster inside the ejection port.

The HOP-up unit is the older "gear" style unit, meaning it is easier to adjust quickly than the more modern rotary, though has fewer increments of adjustment. The HOP-up allows you to vary the amount of backspin applied to your BBs and tune the E6902M for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. The HOP-up unit, bucking and nub are all Tokyo Marui compatible, so if you are maxing out your build you can drop in a rotary unit, Pro-Win, Gate EON or Maxx HOP-up unit without any fitting worries.

The pistol grip is an ergonomic design with a low profile finger ledge to assist in supporting the weight of the E6902M and to provide improved comfort and functionality with the stock fully collapsed. The trigger guard is the standard flat M4/AR-15 design, keeping the trigger well protected from snags or negligent discharges.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to a familiar sight; the good old M4/AR-15 buffer tube. This isn't 100% accurate to the real deal which uses a bigger buffer tube due to its bigger bolt carrier, but offers full compatibility with aftermarket M4/AR-15 stocks which we think is a worthy tradeoff. The buffer tube is constructed from alloy, providing 6 positions of adjustment allowing for various body types and loadouts with bulky body armour vests.

The stock itself is patterned after the large profile stock option of the real deal, boasting a sloped cheekpiece for improved comfort and a sizeable battery compartment like a Crane stock. The adjustment lever is located on the bottom and is well concealed inside the design, allowing the stock to be lengthened and shortened to suit the environment and play style.

The battery compartment is inside the stock and is accessible with the butt plate removed. To achieve this, you will need to push the well-concealed button on the top of the butt plate down, after which the butt plate can be lifted slightly, then pulled free. Inside you will find a mini-Tamiya battery connector to which you mount your choice of battery. We recommend a 7.4V 2000mAh LiPo battery in crane/nunchuck configuration as the battery compartment is nice and large, and shaped well to fit larger squared LiPo cells.

The internals of the E6902M are based around a version 2.5/version 2 long gearbox with an in-line MOSFET to provide a snappy trigger response and improve electrical efficiency. The spring guide is quick change capable, meaning if you need to tune the power of the E6902M, you don't need to open the gearbox. The cylinder group is all version 2.5 spec, but the gearset is Tokyo Marui compatible meaning aftermarket high speed or high torque gearsets are a go. The polymer piston is reinforced with a full rack of steel teeth, and the inner barrel is a 6.04mm tightbore, meaning if accuracy is your goal, you have a decent head start!

If you are looking for a 7.62x51 style replica for outdoor play, whether you are going the DMR route or not, the Golden Eagle E6902M M-417 DMR Long AEG would be a fine choice, even moreso if you are running a GWOT-era Delta Force or UKSF loadout. With hefty full metal construction, a pre-installed MOSFET and a tightbore inner barrel, the E6902M is a fantastic woodland primary as it is, but is begging for some DMR love!
