  • High Capacity M4 Magazine Adaptor

An Airsoft 6mm Airsoft AEG replica designed to look like the infamous P90, seen in many video games, TV series and Movies we all love (for the P90, of course!). This P90 is a bit of a special case, as it comes with a whopping 1500rnd box magazine/M4 high-cap adapter, allowing it to be fed using M4 AEG high-caps but with the added benefit of drum magazine-like capacity. If you are looking for a super small and mobile AEG with the ability to run all day long on a single magazine, or absolutely saturate the enemy team with 1500 BBs per fill, this is the AEG you need!

Full description

Description

The JG P98-1 is in essence a standard P90, but with a mould-breaking, purist heart-breaking box magazine driven by an M4/AR15 high-capacity magazine. This box magazine gives you an extremely large ammo capacity of 1500 BBs, which is more than most will use in an entire game day! This P90 gives you the option to run the AEG and box magazine with no need for a rig or additional magazines and slay all day, or give the enemy team the full brunt of 1500 fast moving white balls every round, just make sure you stock up on plenty of BBs, you will need them!

The P98-1 is constructed from high density polymer with aluminium rails and trim parts, which helps keep the AEG lightweight and mobile as it was designed. At the tip of the outer barrel, we can find the classic P90 style slant muzzle break which mounts to 14mm CCW male threads. This means if you grow tired of the iconic P90 flash hider you can add a suppressor or tracer unit without the need for any adapters, and we all know how awesome a P90 platform looks when suppressed!

The charging handles of the P90 are located on either side of what is known as the "optics bridge", which is an appropriate nod to the real steel design, though on the Airsoft P90 the charging handles do not affect function they can still be racked for that oh so satisfying "click-clack".  The fire selector of the P98-1 matches that of the real P90 perfectly and is positioned just below the trigger providing 3 modes of fire. The first mode is safe, which will lock the trigger, the second mode is semi-auto which fires a single shot, and the third mode is dual stage full auto, which provides a single shot when the trigger is pulled halfway, and fully auto when the trigger is pulled all the way back. This is great for dealing with a sudden moving target, as you can quickly send a burst down range to improve your hit probability without having to play with the selector.

The lower body of the P98-1 has a rather unconventional grip setup which gives this P90 AEG its recognisable form. The front grip is ergonomically curved and has a built-in hand stop to prevent you from shooting your fingers when operating at pace. This grip can be used either in a "thumb break" style or by wrapping your thumb through the grip as you would with a traditional vertical grip hold. The front grip is also combined with the trigger guard of the P90, and has plenty of room inside to allow use with thicker full fingered gloves.

The P98-1's pistol grip is more of a traditional "semi pistol grip" angle, and feels like an M14 or M1 Garand grip but with a more comfortable and refined shape. This grip has a very low profile, just like "semi pistol grip's" of old, which allows you to get extremely low in the prone position with the P90, something M4 users have trouble with. This also allows the P90 to maintain a small silhouette making it a breeze to throw this AEG in a backpack or a small gun bag with space to spare.

The HOP-up unit of the P98-1 is well hidden, as it is in the original Tokyo Marui design. Inside the thumbhole of the stock you will find a port, the door of which can be pulled rearwards using your fingernail or a flat head screwdriver. Inside you will see the rotary HOP-up adjuster which can be turned by hand through the port itself. This device allows you to tune the P98-1 for different ammo weights and extend your range for outdoors skirmishes. The rotary unit design is known to be one of the most stable designs for AEGs, and gives the P98-1 superb accuracy potential when upgraded, though it does the job well as it is!

The upper receiver of the P98-1 is also known as the "optics bridge" as this is where the original P90 would house its integral red dot sight. The P98-1 is a replica of the railed version of the P90, so instead of a built-in red dot sight, you get a 20mm Picatinny rail across the top, and two short 20mm rail sections, one on either side. This makes this version of the P90 a great choice if you like your primary bristling with accessories. The top rail has plenty of space for a red dot sight and magnifier, and the side rails allow a PEQ laser and a flashlight to be mounted at the same time!

The magazine release of the P98-1 is positioned at the top of the stock, and needs to be pulled back in order to release the magazine. The magazine provided with the P98-1 is a large box magazine which offers a significant capacity boost to the P90 platform, but maintains a low profile and keeps the AEG easy to handle. This magazine has its own magazine release which is used to release the M4/AR15 magazine. This release is located on the left side and is easily accessible for a right-handed user, though given the capacity of this box mag setup if you are a southpaw it probably isn't worth worrying about reloading this near infinite capacity mag!

This box magazine is driven by the wheel wound spring tensioner of the included M4/AR15 high cap, and feeds from both the M4 magazine reservoir and its own built-in reservoir which can be filled through the fill port on the top rear of the box mag body. When the reservoir of the box mag runs dry you can continue to feed the P98-1 using M4/AR15 high-caps without having to refill the box mag itself, though if you find yourself in this situation you probably need yourself a support weapon to do your heavy trigger finger justice!

The P98-1 is equipped with two sling slots, both of which can be set up for either a left or right handed sling. The front sling point is located on the upper receiver, and the rear point is at the toe of the stock. These sling points are designed for a P90-specific sling, but can be used with standard hook-type slings with the addition of a paracord loop. This will also help prevent the sling from rattling as you move, and is our recommendation if you want to use the P90 as a backup to a sniper rifle as stealth is key to this role.

The battery compartment of the P98-1 is located inside the stock, and is accessible when the butt plate is removed. To remove the butt plate, press the button on the bottom, after which the butt plate can be slid down and removed. Inside you will see the rear of the gearbox, and just above is the battery compartment. The P98-1 uses the mini-Tamiya battery connector, meaning if you have been skirmishing for a while you probably already have a battery that fits. For the P98-1 we recommend a 7.4V 1300mAh LiPo battery which fits in perfectly with space to spare, avoiding any potential damage to the battery's cells from squeezing it in.

Internally the P98-1 makes use of the version 6 gearbox, which is a direct copy of the Tokyo Marui design. This means aftermarket upgrades are a go for this P90, and it can accept standard AEG gearsets, pistons and short shaft motors, and version 6 cylinder group parts. As it comes, the P98-1 has a high torque motor pre-installed, a reinforced piston with 7 steel teeth, and a ball bearing piston head which reduces stress on the piston during cycling. A respectable set of internals for such an affordable P90 which only benefits from this AEGs Bullpup design giving it a very long inner barrel for its overall length.

If you are looking for a pocket sized AEG with a pint sized magazine, you have found your poison! As far as size to capacity is concerned the P98-1 is practically impossible to beat, and its TM spec internals mean the sky is the limit when it comes to upgrading this little beast. As a bonus, if you ever want to blend in with the Milsim crowd and switch back to P90 magazines you can, and its as easy as a mag change!
