  • HAL¹ ETU/MOSFET - Programmable fire modes

If you're looking for a compact and lightweight AR platform with stealthy styling, the Specna Arms SA-FH06 FLEX™ HAL¹ ETU™ M4/AR-15 AEG is a great choice. This AEG follows Specna's "FLEX" build standard, with full polymer externals, plus an alloy flash hider and outer barrel. It's ideal for skirmishers who like to move fast and keep their energy high all day.

The latest SA-FH06 is rocking Specna's HAL¹ ETU, boasting programmable fire controls and several quality-of-life functions built in, all for barely more money than the original. The HAL¹ allows you to program different fire modes and adjust trigger sensitivity and pre-cocking. Like the original, the HAL¹ equipped version also has a 6.03mm tightbore inner barrel, giving it above-average accuracy potential and a slight rise in FPS from the same strength spring. Impressive considering its low price point!

Specna's FLEX™ Gen.2 pushes the feature set of affordable AEGs up a notch or two, equipped with the Aether™ enhanced gearbox shell and Magnus™ TDC Rotary HOP-up unit from the PRIME™ series. Also on board is the Aether™ CNC aluminium nozzle and Helium™ HOP-up bucking, boosting accuracy and range considerably. If you need a lightweight but advanced rifle, the Specna Arms SA-FH06 FLEX™ Gen.2 has both boxes ticked!

Description

This is perfect if you have been looking for an affordable and lightweight 416-style rifle. It is incredibly advanced considering how much it costs, with upgraded internals that can rival platforms that cost twice as much as this! The Aether gearbox and HAL¹ ETU™ give this AEG a whole new level of performance and functionality!

Starting at the tip of the outer barrel, we find an M4/AR-15 birdcage flash hider mounted to 14mm CCW male threading. The outer barrel is constructed from alloy to provide a strong backbone and keep the tightbore inner barrel nice and straight for perfect accuracy. If you want to mount a tracer unit, suppressor or alternative muzzle device, all you need to do is unscrew the flash hider and mount your preferred device, thanks to the common 14mm CCW threading at the tip of the barrel.

The front iron sight is a fixed front post with "wings" on either side of it to keep it protected from accidental bumps. The sight is constructed from alloy and is not adjustable, as it is welded onto the wings. At the front of the handguard, we also have alloy sling points on either side of this platform.

Surrounding the barrel, we have a polymer 20mm Picatinny quad-railed handguard with 20mm rails at the 3, 6, 9 and 12 o'clock positions, ready for any 20mm accessories you choose to add to complete your mission. All this rail space is excellent for people trying out new load-outs. The freedom of being able to mount common 20mm Picatinny attachments on any side of your handguard allows you to find the perfect setup.

The receiver should be a familiar sight to anyone who has handled an M4/AR-15 platform before, constructed from polymer and matching the common receiver style perfectly. This includes the reinforced front pinhole, mil-spec flat trigger guard, magazine release fence and low-profile charging handle latch. The magazine release is on the right side of the magazine well, with a push-through design just like a standard M4/AR-15 AEG with a textured surface for optimal traction.

The fire selector switch is just above the pistol grip on the right side, offering 3 modes of fire with a 90-degree throw between each. The default fire modes are safe, semi-auto and full auto, but with the pre-installed HAL¹ ETU, you have the option of using binary trigger instead of semi and 3-round burst instead of full auto. This makes the SA-FH06 very versatile and ready for any situation you may find yourself in.

The charging handle can be found at the top rear of the receiver and, as mentioned, features the mil-spec low-profile charging handle latch to reduce snagging potential. Pulling the charging handle back will pop the dust cover open and retract the mock bolt, revealing the rotary HOP-up unit on the right side. The HOP-up allows you to adjust the amount of backspin applied to your projectiles and tune the SA-FH06 for different ammo weights, looking for the flattest possible trajectory. When you've completed your adjustments, you can slap the "ping pong paddle" style bolt release catch on the left side of the receiver to drop the mock bolt with a satisfying metal-on-metal "clank".

Up top, we have a 20mm Picatinny receiver rail with a preinstalled rear iron sight. The rear sight is adjustable for elevation by rotating the dial with the sight hole in it. If you prefer to run an optical sight, you can loosen the screws with an Allen key on the left side of the iron sights and remove them to access the full length of your receiver rail.

At the rear of the receiver, we come to the steel CQD-style sling plate, which offers ambidextrous functionality with single-point slings; perfect for left or right-handed shooters. The steel construction practically guarantees that no matter what you choose to mount to the plethora of 20mm rails on the SA-FH06, the sling plate will be strong enough to support the weight.

To the rear of the sling plate, we come to the M4/AR-15 buffer tube, which is constructed from the same strong high-density polymer used for the receiver. The buffer tube offers 6 positions of stock adjustment and boasts a low-snag design to keep mobility high. The adjustment lever is located on the bottom and is well concealed inside the design, allowing the stock to be lengthened and shortened to suit the environment and play style. We don't recommend using the visible loop sling points on the stock, as they are made from polymer; we would recommend using the slit in the middle of the stock instead.

The battery compartment is inside the buffer tube, as with many M4/AR-15 platforms and can comfortably fit a 7.4v 1300mAh 30C LiPo Stick Battery inside. To access the battery compartment, you can either remove the stock entirely by pulling the adjustment lever out and sliding it off to the rear or remove the butt plate by rotating it counter-clockwise and pulling it off. Inside, you will find a Dean's battery connector to which you mount your chosen battery. The Deans connector has the advantage of being smaller and offering lower electrical resistance when compared to the mini-Tamiya, and we are always happy to see more Deans connectors appearing on out-of-the-box AEGs.

Inside the Gen.2 SA-FH06, we are treated to the Aether-enhanced gearbox shell, the same reinforced V2 shell used in Specna's top-tier PRIME series. The Aether features a reinforced spine and ports throughout the design to allow for easy tuning, ideal for the techy types. Also inside are 18:1 ratio steel gears running on 8mm bushings. The spring guide is an ESA quick-change example, making power tuning a breeze for those who want to get as close to site limits as possible.

The inner barrel is a 6.03mm tightbore paired with the Magnus TDC rotary HOP-up unit, giving you superb accuracy potential and the most up-to-date HOP-up unit style for M4/AR-15 AEGs. All internal parts are Tokyo Marui AEG spec, meaning aftermarket upgrades are a go for the performance seekers!

The HAL¹ ETU adds a whole lot of functionality into the mix, with programmable fire controls, 6 levels of pre-cocking adjustment and 5 levels of trigger sensitivity adjustment. Available fire modes include 3 or 5-round burst, binary trigger, AUG mode aka two-stage trigger, semi-auto only and sniper delay, giving you loads of options for how you use your SA-FH06. Features like these are usually only present in high-end replicas; we simply cannot believe the wealth of functionality inside the HAL¹-equipped SA-FH06 Gen.2, especially considering the price!

If you want a German-style rifle that is much better than its price tag suggests, the Specna Arms SA-FH06 FLEX™ Gen.2 HAL¹ ETU™ M4/AR-15 AEG is one to watch! This 416 lookalike is punching way above its budget in terms of internal performance. The polymer construction helps keep the weight and the price down!
