Description

If you're after an authentic MP5 replica with a neat trick up its sleeve, the Umarex Heckler & Koch MP5 Sportsline AEG; EyeTrace Version should be in your sights! A full metal build equipped with EyeTrace technology, this MP5 doesn't need an aftermarket tracer to light up the enemy team, as it has one built into the HOP-up unit!

Inside, this licensed MP5 is well equipped, boasting an alloy version 2 gearbox with 18:1 ratio steel gears and a quick-change spring system. All internal parts are standard TM spec, meaning aftermarket upgrade options are practically limitless. The stand-out feature of this MP5 is the integrated EyeTrace HOP-up unit, a slider-style HOP-up unit with a built-in tracer unit, meaning you don't need to mount a tracer to light the enemy up!

At the tip of the barrel, we have a threaded tri-lug muzzle device, allowing you to mount tri-lug compatible QD suppressors, should the mission require it. At the front of the tri-lug, we can find 14mm CCW male threading beneath the knurlled thread protector. On the left side, we also find our first sling point, which is integral to the front sight block and is perfect for hook-style two-point or three-point slings.

To remove the flash hider, all you need to do is press the textured tab on its outer rim, and the flash hider will come straight off. The barrel threading is protected by a knurled thread protector and is threaded to the most common Airsoft standard, 14mm CCW male threads. This means adding a suppressor is no problem if you want a sneaky look or some extra intimidation factor for CQB. Naturally, you won't need a tracer unit, as there is one built in!

Moving rearwards, we come to the front sight, which is a classic MP5 design with a fixed front post protected from drops with a protective ring which surrounds the sight post. This sight aligns well with the rear rotary drum dioptre aperture sight, found on the rear of the receiver. This sight setup is widely known as a fantastic sight system, though with its M-LOK/Picatinny hybrid upper rail, this MP5 would benefit a lot from adding a red dot sight for faster target acquisition.

The rear sight provides four apertures for aiming, intended for different ranges and ambient lighting conditions, which can easily be selected thanks to its knurled outer surface. To adjust the rear sight for windage, you can loosen the screw in the base on the right side and slide the rear sight back and forth in its base.

Following the front sight, we come to the handguard of the MP5, which boasts M-LOK attachment slots at the 3, 6, and 9 o'clock positions, with an MP5K-style vertical grip/hand stop pre-installed at the 6 o'clock position. We're big fans of the pre-installed forgrip, but if you want to swap it out, you can, thanks to the M-LOK attachment interface.

M-LOK can be used to mount tactical flashlights, vertical and angled grips and also 20mm Picatinny rail adapters in case you want to use the older but more common 20mm accessories. The benefit of a negative space system like M-LOK is that it is far lighter than a 20mm railed handguard and much more comfortable when used without accessories.

Above the handguard, we come to the cocking tube of the MP5, which is constructed from robust alloy with a lovely flat black finish applied. Within you will find the cocking handle, which is a modernised design which is optimised for gloved use and profiled such that it is slightly easier to access from the left side.

Pulling the cocking handle rearwards allows it to be locked into its "safety notch", which will open the ejection port on the right side of the receiver and reveal the slider-adjustable HOP-up unit. This allows you to tune the trajectory of your BBs by varying the amount of backspin applied. We recommend adjusting until you get the flattest possible trajectory with your chosen ammo weight.

Running along the top of the cocking tube and receiver, we have a hybrid M-LOK/Picatinny top rail, which allows for M-LOK attachment at the front and provides a 20mm Picatinny rail at the rear. This rail is perfect for adding an M-LOK-mounted tactical flashlight up front and a red dot sight on the 20mm rail.

The receiver follows the familiar MP5 format, but with some choice enhancements to help this 60s-era SMG turn and burn in CQB with the more modern stuff. The magazine release is ambidextrous and is located at the rear of the magazine well with an additional polymer extension added to allow for one-handed mag drops. The MP5 also includes a secondary AR-15-style mag release button on the right side, though the paddle release is far easier to reach for most users.

The fire selector is ambidextrous, located just above the pistol grip for fast access. The super short 45-degree throw between selector modes makes it extremely fast and easy to switch from safe to fire, and the selector is positioned so the opposite side selector does not dig into your hand when set to full auto. Each fire mode is indicated with red and white coloured bullet pictograms, in iconic MP5 style.

The pistol grip follows a familiar profile, comfortably filling the hand and providing support where it is needed. The material used on the polymer parts of the MP5 is a textured fibre-reinforced type, similar to the material used on the real steel, and is rock solid, with no creak, flex or wobble, and a satisfying high-quality feel.

Either side of the receiver features grooves which both serve to reinforce it and to allow for the MP5 sliding stock to travel within. Being licensed by Heckler & Koch, you can find the H&K logo and "MP5" written next to it in bold white text, on the left side, near the rear. On the left side of the magwell, we have 9x19 engraved in and finished in white. On the right side, on the magwell, it reads "Licensed Trademark of Heckler & Koch GmbH".

At the rear of the receiver, we can find the fixed stock, found on "A2" and "A4" variants of the real steel H&K MP5. The stock is made from fantastic quality fibre-reinforced polymer, with a high-quality textured finish. On the right side, we have a sling point suitable for standard strap slings or slings with HK hooks, and at the rear, you'll find a grippy rubber butt plate. Slide the butt plate down, and it will pop free, providing access to the battery compartment.

With the butt plate removed, you'll find a vast battery compartment, suitable for a wide variety of battery configurations and sizes. The pre-installed connector is a Deans/T-Plug, and we recommend a 7.4V 1500mAh LiPo battery for an easy fit and impressive performance. If you already have a 7.4V LiPo with a Deans connector you use for Airsoft AEGs, chances are it will fit inside this ample battery space.

Internally, the MP5 EyeTrace is well equipped, boasting a version 2 gearbox with an alloy shell, 18:1 ratio steel gears and a quick-change spring system to make tuning power easy. Also inside is an FCU in-line MOSFET, which cranks up trigger response, prevents trigger lockups and provides battery protection to prevent overdischarge.

The highlight is obviously the EyeTrace integral tracer unit, letting you send glowing BBs downrange without hindering the agile, compact nature of the MP5 by adding a threaded tracer muzzle device and increasing its overall length. The EyeTrace is also functional with both red and green tracer BBs, ideal for any preference!

If you're a fan of the legendary MP5, the Umarex Heckler & Koch MP5 Sportsline AEG; EyeTrace Version will put a big smile on your face. A fantastic replica of the iconic SMG everyone recognises, complete with H&K's endorsement and a built-in tracer unit, this MP5 has it all!
